I flew on two separate A220s last evening. The larger windows made the cabin feel less claustrophobic and the pressurization system is top-notch. Very minimal clogged ear feeling from take-off to landing.
It sucks that when CP Air and PWA merged, they didn't use the "Empress" callsign. And it was a shame all over again when Air Canada brought Canadian, they didn't utilize the opportunity to relaunch the "Empress" callsign. It's WAAAAY cooler
The Bombardier C Series (aka Airbus 220) was always destined to be another successful regional airliner thanks to the great engineering at Bombardier. While, too many political decisions (and USA protectionism) led to the selloff to Airbus, it's great to see the assembly of non-US aircraft still being carried out in Canada. Thanks for the report.
Bombardier if anything has always been a reliable planemaker and even with Airbus assuming its ownership it's clear that it really has delivered for airlines time and time again except in hot regions like Egypt which operate under the most extreme conditions on earth and are tough on all planes including the pride of the Canadian aviation sector...
It's poetic, seeing Airbus prosper thanks to Canadian effort, considering how much effort Boeing made to put Bombardier & therefore Canada out of business in aviation.
Well it‘s raising their A350-1000 backlog by 50%… that‘s not that small… if it was 5 A320s it wouldn’t be worth noting but one A350 order is worth about 3 A220 or A320 orders
Ah now with AC with more A220 orders & the future A321 XLRs see the reasoning behind transferring the 737 Max to Rouge..flew on the AC 220 from Montreal to Halifax great plane super flight flew back on 737 max just no comparision the A220 wins overall.
With Emirates probably not getting their 777Xs until about 2028, I wouldn't bet that Lufthansa get theirs before these A350-1000 arrive. That's why they've ordered them, to operate their timetable without the 777Xs.....
Air Canada had originally ordered 75 C-Series (45 firm, 30 options). In 2020, reduced firm orders to 33. In 2022, added 15 (so 48 firm) in 2024 added 5. I may have missed some additions because I don't know where the 65 numer somes from, they should be at 53 with current options for 5. initially, AC had no intention of buying them, but the government found AC a way out of a court problem by buying them and having Bombardier maintain then in MB, an obligation AC had violated when it got rid of all its aircraft maintenance and hence was facing stiff court punishement). The addition of the 15 in 2022 a good sign, but basically restoring its original order needed to replace the Embraer fleet already on their way out. The addition of the 5 now does show some confidence in the plane
In fact, the A350-1000 will become the replacement for the 777-300ER for many airlines starting from the late 2020's on. Expect both China Airlines and EVA Airways of Taiwan to replace their 777-300ER fleet with the A350-1000 fleet by the early 2030's.
DJ, you didn’t report on the big news of the week. Santa ordered a new sleigh from Airbus. It’s a real fuel saver, it only uses 7 reindeer to fly. Merry Christmas.
A340's and 747's INFAMOUS in which world, they are the most beautiful planes ever made, and while true the A350's are a more economical they will never become the beauties A340's, 80's and 747 are, NEVER. That's not even mentioning the horrible nightmareliners 787's or the killer 737 maxes, please.
Yeah, I liked the classic 747 and sleek looking A340, and the A380 which I think could have been amazing but never got to have that huge impact. Obviously if the new generation can do the same or better in terms of range and/or efficiency, for airlines that is the decision-maker.
A350 is such an ugly and weak airplane . It has its purpose but being the new 777, 747, and a380 is none of them . Airlines need to hold onto thier perfectly good 300ers for longer until the 777X is done instead of buying this French low quality plastic plane that is meant to compete with the 787-10! Not the 777-300!
I flew on two separate A220s last evening. The larger windows made the cabin feel less claustrophobic and the pressurization system is top-notch. Very minimal clogged ear feeling from take-off to landing.
A350-1000 is huge. Yet, so beautiful and elegant.
Very needle-like with those proportions!
Ugly plane . Not even that big with a cabin width similar to that of a 787 😂😂😂😂😂
@@liambengif7663the -1000 is way bigger than the 787. The A350 size wise is closer to the 777 anyways
Huge, what huge? LMAO
@stingerbean1848 you know nothing
Air Canada is making big moves in the airline industries , GO AIR CANADA GO!

Giving Air max to Rouge
This Canadian is immensely pleased to see Air Canada supporting a Canadian company, Bombardier, the designers and manufacturers of the C5 / A-220.

There is really only one long range wide body aircraft available to long haul airlines on the market today.
DJ is missing the big aviation news of the week 😮
Yes, this is last week's news........
4:13 Why are the 744 and A346 "infamous" among aviation enthusiasts?
I don't think you're using the word correctly, DJ?
Because he knows nothing

Congratulations, Airbus.
congratulations Boeing
Why congratulations for Boeing?
Why congratulations to Airbus
I love the a220 but I hate how it sped up the retirement for the 717
That was the E-series already. The A-220 only finalized it.
Those 717’s were getting replaced anyways. Could blame Boeing for not manufacturing that plane for longer and absorbing McDonnell Douglas.
I don't! Boeing have been terrible for years!
It's poetic, seeing Airbus prosper thanks to Canadian effort, considering how much effort Boeing made to put Bombardier & therefore Canada out of business in aviation.

Austrian Airlines is also supposed to get the A330-800 and a few of the A350-1000's mentioned.
Good move by Lufthansa Group and its acquisition of ITA is a very calculated strategy. Air Canada has also made a good decision with the A 220s.
C-100 to Airbus 220 after being banned by Boeing in the US as I recall.
Thanks for the update Dj!!
Seems like a great price. Does this inlcude bolts for the doors ?
New verb in business sectors: How to "Boeing" your company . . .
LH purchasing five aircraft is hardly a "big" order.
Right a tiny little order, probably only 2.5 billion dollars. So are you a zillionaire, where that much $$$ is pocket change?
Well it‘s raising their A350-1000 backlog by 50%… that‘s not that small… if it was 5 A320s it wouldn’t be worth noting but one A350 order is worth about 3 A220 or A320 orders
But Swiss have also announced 5 A350-900 orders, and Lufthansa 5 -1000s. That's 10 orders from the group.........
What do you learn from Airlines? Buy Airbus means fullfillment of the promisses in operation. Buy Boeing means problems in operation.
Buying Boing does not mean problems in operation. Airbus has problems in operation too
@@nickolliver3021. Just not nearly as many. Same goes for actually getting aircraft out the door.
@@simondahl5437 Airbus does want to get many out the door. The problems will increase the more things get done more quicker and faster. Time will tell

Isn't the a220 built in Canada?
That was mentioned in the video
USA and Canada
@@George-to8ewCanada and the US. The larger number is in Canada.
I believe A220s bound for US carriers are built in Mobile, Alabama, US. And A220s for everyone else are built in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada.
from 2028?
so 777x will be earlier!
We will see😂
It’s still a wish from Boeing
The first A35Ks are supposed to enter service in 2026
The A35K has been in service since 2015...

Late to the party China airlines split the order 10 x A350-1000 + 10 x Boeing 7779x
Also the 787-10s also replace 777-300ers for example United and a couple more
The A 350 is no replacement for the 777....it may be used to replace till the King arrives..but its not the same product
Competition Is Great But Quality Control Is Essential 😊
Congratulations…
Wish they would go ahead with a 220 stretch be in line with the MD 80 with 5 abreast seating
not going to be here anytime soon

Boeing offers Zero variety of product offering in the short to medium haul category. How do they survive selling a solitary entrant?

It blows my mind that the Airline Industry started listening to activists instead of scientists and engineers. Narrow Bodies are trash
go tell the industry that. Its not the airlines fault

Porter? The airline that most recently ordered and now flies EMB 195-E2s? 🤷🏼♂️
