In this video I ride all of the lines on the Boston T system including the heavy rail, light rail, and the Silver Line "BRT".

I noticed after uploading that the color correction is a bit off so sorry about that. This will be fixed in future videos.
The Blue Line changes at Airport station from 3rd rail power to overhead power. You’ll notice the train stop there longer than normal, power off and then back on as it switches power source.
8:48 Airport station is actually the point where Blue line trains switch from the overhead catenary to the third rail, and vice versa
Tip for travelers --- a lot of stations are super close together.. - just get a charlie card. like the local do, load on a value like $40 for your trip (just dont lose your card or get the receipt so you can have the staff at the charlie card store downtown reload it for you ) (they can only do this with a receipt). - Second tip: A lot of the lines are walking distance from each other . so if you are at State street and trying to get to South station. You dont have to go one stop on the orange line to change to the red line , its actually only a short walk from Government Center/State to South Station along the parks/greenway about 20 minutes max....depending on how fast you walk...on a nice dayt its worth it. its only a few minutes walk from State down to Downtown Crossing where you can get on the red line as well. Many of the stops are close by. Like Ruggles to Mass ave is only a 10 minute walk through the Northeastern campus. And you can walk between all branches of the green line as long as you pay a second fare. Chesnut HIll (B) line - , Cleveland Circle (C) - end of the C line, and (D) reservoir (with a BC shuttle bus connection during the school year) - are all within a 10 minute walk of each other - 5 minute walk between the D and C line Reservoir/to Cleveland circle as its just down the street. Many of the Silver line stops in the seaport are a short walk away and its about a 10 minute- 20 minute walk from the Childrens museum down the pathway by the Gillette Razor HQ - to Broadway Station in South Boston where you can pick up busses out to Southie or get the red line. it is also a short walk between chinatown (Orange) and Boylston (green) and Chinatown (orange) and South Station (red) or Amtrak/Commuter rail.
The unused track at Government Center does seldomly get used(or used to). After an event at the Garden, I boarded an inbound GL train and the actually used that track. We all had to get off at Government Center, because that train went back to Lechmere. About 6-7 months ago, I was at Government Center and there was an empty GL train sitting on that track.

At the time when you filmed this, the reason why the trains are so slow is that they are inspecting the tracks on each line, and that isn’t the only reason. The tracks are very old so they have to slow down to not further wear down the tracks for a better inspection and and decrease in risk of an accident, such as a derailment so they can in the future replace these tracks and the trains (except for the blue line 700s trains as they were delivered to the Mbta more recently, I assume in the 2000’s when they were brand new so they will be replaced a bit further in the future than the redline’s 1800s
If you don’t know these numbers what I’m talking about, here’s a list
1800s: The Braintree train you rode
15/16/1700s: the first train you rode in the video
700s: the blue line train
BONUS: 3600/3700 the green line train that leads you saw around the curve at park st and the type you rode with 2 segments physically
BONUS 2: 3800: the green line train on the bottom left of your thumbnail and the train that leads you saw around the curve at Gov’t center and the first green line train you saw (physically) that has 3 segments
BONUS 3: 1900s/1400s: Newest trains on the red line (1900s) and orange line (1400s), like the ones you saw and rode when you were on the orange line. They look basically the same inside but exteriorly different
Fun fact (not really “fun): the green line 3800s are notorious and infamous in Boston for derailing a lot more than the 36/3700s, while the 36/3700s collide with another train more than the 3800s

These "travelogs " are great. Please come to California. We have a ton of all kinds of RR. Including cable cars.

Kendall/MIT is a Google station in Cambridge, Massachusetts
Kendall/MIT the newentrance goes to Ashmont and Braintree it's so brand new elevators, one escalator goes up and, the stairs. I believe they built like 2020 or 2021.
For context on that 2014 MBTA map, government center was being completely rebuilt at that time! the old station was terrible lmfao

Park Street is a Park and a Government station.
You know you could go to government ctr then take blue line to state street than take orange line

Did you know that the Ashmont-Mattapan line is the only transit line that runs through a cemetery?

It was an Ashmont train. The rear says Alewife because when the train reverses it goes back to Alewife. (The destination boards don't change)

The destination boards can actually roll thus they’re called roll signs and they can change from Braintree alewife or ashmont. But the front and rear roll signs don’t change or roll as much as the roll signs on the sides of the cars on the 1500-600-700s series of redline trains

I am not trying to scare you in any way but I am concerned for your safety. Do me a favor and be aware of your surroundings at all times when riding public transportation, especially the kinds that have platforms that are 3 or 4 feet above the rails.
This World is a crazy place and there are many people who have ill-intent for others.
Never stand close to the edge of a platform as a train is pulling in. As a matter of fact, never stand close to the edge of a platform.
Keep your back close to the wall so nobody else can get behind you and push you.
I hate to gave to say this but, unfortunately in today's World, it is necessary to be situationally aware at all times.
