I just got my first rye the other day. It’s a Michter’s single barrel. Holy cow my mind was blown! Definitely a great bottle for sure. I for see it being a frequent offender on my self.
Same, I was ecstatic to find her in the wild. Almost bought three prior to trying. I raced home popped her open, and was underwhelmed. Nothing compares to the Kentucky owl ryes, I think they’re the best I’ve had.
2023 barrels had a lot of barrel variation. I have two G barrels of the toasted and it's crazy good. Thick rye spice, powdered sugar and the char melds with the caramel syrupy nature pefrectly. Lots of smores flavors as well.
I kind of look for that bitter oak on the back end. I appreciate most good whiskeys but I’ve found I prefer those that have some of that dry oaky(ness). I also like IPA’s that I drink with my pinky up whilst waxing my mustache.
I love me some Ragged Branch. Hard to beat a sub- $50 BIB wheater from a local distillery that grows its own grain. But then they had to come out with a Double Oaked version that I need to get my hands on.
I tried elijah toasted small batch for the first time compared to normal. Yeah, it was harsh for me on the back, but tried it in blinds and still picked it out easy. However it got easier to drink the 2nd or 3rd time around lil more than I got first time. All in all for me, not worth almost 3x as normal bottle but good in its own regards
I'm not sure if you've tried it or not yet (I may have missed it if you did) but I just picked up a bottle of Penelope Toasted and have really been enjoying that.
I've recently found one of these, and while I haven't opened that yet, I had the Toasted Sour Mash version. I wasn't a fan initially, but about halfway down the bottle, I really began to enjoy it, so it will be interesting to see if this one evolves for you. Maybe worth a half bottle left revisit review?
This is why for the most part I stay away from anything that says toasted barrel. Especially on a limited budget, very rarely do I find one that I actually appreciate. It's usually just a big blast of oak that I could do without.
If you don’t mind me to responded, I believe I have seen it half of what your talking about, definitely doesn’t worth that, not even the 10 years for my taste.
Why would a toasted finish add a barrel char note? Does Brewzle know what a toasted stave looks like? It's just wood, no char. That's why it is called toasted - they heat the took but not enough to char it. Also, no toasted barrel is going to add apricot notes to the whiskey unless that whiskey. finishing wood simply doesn't lend much sugar to the whiskey unless it's in that barrel for literal years. If it was in a toasted barrel for years you would end up with tons of sour and bitter notes. Apricot notes usually come from the yeast. Fruity profiles are mostly from the yeast, not the barrel. The red fruit on BT products is 100% due to the yeast they use.
Ive come to the conclusion that whatever this guy says about what an outstanding whiskey is or isnt, i will go with the exact opposite. No harm, no foul. Just different palates i guess
I wonder as more whiskey tubers come around, if they are truly enjoying the whisky or is it the excitement of the hunt... or taste palate can be affected by so many things. Gotta scrape my tongue sometimes. smoking can affect our palates and so many other things. The funny thing is bourbon and rye now matter how special or fancy will always have around 2-3 flavors. Sometimes 4 or 5 I read these in depth reviews mostly they are pretentious and nuances. Scotch has far more depth and flavor if you ask me. Especially Islay. But to each their own. I find that you have to love oakiness if you enjoy bourbon. I say most importantly the bottles are made more special by the special people you are sharing it with. As well as the memories you make. Fomo is a bitch too
They fired me from my local liquor store where i had many good friends that came in as customers but slowly turned into people i loved to see and loved to see me. They fired me for making a joke (which i always do because im a joker)..
@whoisbrucewayne17 I was trying to order italian food for me and a co worker and I asked if she wanted with or without meatballs and she said yes and I said "that makes sense cuz you're a girl" I can't think of anything else I said that was too crazy
I love this bottle, but I love your unwavering commitment to honesty and not trying to appease every distillery on earth
Really enjoying the Elijah Craig toasted barrel

Congratulations. I’m a huge rye fan. I highly recommend New Riff rye. Tastes like a liquid s’more.
I seen several New Riff bottles in the same store. Thanks for the info. Perhaps that’ll be my next endeavor
New Riff BiB is really good too. Fantastic pour for the money.
@@Buzz_329I know nothing about the New Riffs. Other than I can’t say I’ve heard anything bad about them. Appreciate the insight
Brewzle doesn't really like the normal single barrel rye. He only likes the barrel strength single barrel rye.
This was one of my favorite bottles of 2023 - everyones palate is different

Tumbling Dice has the best Rye in my opinion right now. A citrus high proof bomb 💣
Peerless double oaked rye is very nice, mine is a store pick though
One of my favourite bottles..the toast does elevate it big time..but to each is own
Idk but I find this particular rye to be 🔥
I have to disagree completely.. the toast barrel strength rye was really really good none the less for me!
I would leave it alone a while come back to it. it will be amazing

I'm glad I passed on that 3 times for 249.99 cad
You should try swamp fox distilling co. kettle creek small batch single barrell 115.3 proof

What are the toasted barrel products you have had with the apricot/stonefruit taste that you’d recommend?
Honestly wondering how you got this bottle brewzle lol. These are super hard to get
U should try Vaughn Payne Reserve it's their cast strength with no black currant
Boone county toasted cask is wonderful

Please share your opinion about Old Overholt Rye.
Thank you,
Penelope has. Barrels strength toasted rye that's been one of my favorites for the past year. Search it out
Try Buzzards Roost toasted Rye. Definitely different complexities compared to this bottle.
Elijah Craig toasted barrel!!!
aren’t these like $499 secondary?
If you don’t mind me to responded, I believe I have seen it half of what your talking about, definitely doesn’t worth that, not even the 10 years for my taste.
I found a toasted barrel sour mash that was really good
ASW toasted the was pretty darn good, kinda coconut
Can you do wild turkey voyage 😊
What's your favorite rye toasted?
I agree with you that this is not good. I had it at the atlanta bourbon fest last year and i would rather just have michters barrel strength rye.
So what’s your favorite toasted barrel?
Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel
It's always a bummer when you try a product from a brand you really like and you expect it to hold up to your previous experiences but it falls flat.
Echp toasted is great!!!!!!
Fiddler toasted rye
You might just not like heavy use of new oak. You might want to go for a young whiskey since it will have less time in oak and less tannins.
I dont agree with the 'harsh oak' comment. The toasted and not charred barrel makes a softer oak marshmallow flavor

I have the 2021 toasted and it’s not good at all. Some of the older ones were great but this one is awful.
L. Luke toasted is very good
Yellowstone toasted.

You're supposed to water down Cask strength whiskies🤦😋 you'll get oral cancer not watering down
Im sorry, big brew. We gotta wholeheartedly disagree on this one!
Dislike this bottle big time. I have several 23Gs. Giving them away, anyone want one?
Yikes…this is one of the best ryes I have ever tried. Sorry it didn’t agree with you man
They fired me from my local liquor store where i had many good friends that came in as customers but slowly turned into people i loved to see and loved to see me. They fired me for making a joke (which i always do because im a joker)..
Welp, what was the joke that did you in lol. I must hear it
