- Mid-size sedan leaders like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry get a lot of attention but Nissan's Altima also sells in surprisingly big numbers. In fact, Nissan sells more Altima's than anything else. But they would love to sell even more and this 5th generation Altima sedan is how they plan to do just that.

Still have my 2015 Nissan Altima that I bought brand new back in May 2015. It has been a very reliable car and I haven't had to have any major repairs. The only maintenance that I've had to do is regular oil changes, a couple brake jobs, 2 battery changes and a couple new sets of tires. Pretty damn impressive for a car that's almost 8 years old and 131K miles on the dash. Finally paid it off in 2021 and it's so great not having a car note, gonna ride her a few more years til the wheels fall off before buying a new car lol!!
The car is ticking
Make sure to change the cvt transmission fluid
I bought the top of the line 2013 Altima a month ago and my husband and I absolutely love it.! We get 38.2 mpg hwy. I highly recommended it...
Do you still have it? How is it?
I love this car. Soft driving, efficient, when im driving it i drive it with one finger sometimes because the car is that responsive. Its one of the only cars that allow me to relax while driving. Cvt is quiet and i been satisfying all around. Car is super reliable too
I just got me a 2015 Nissan and that’s how I feel very smooth drive
Did you buy your transmission oil from the Nissan dealer since it only has to be one kind of oil for the transmission
@@jcastro91235always have the Nissan dealer shame the CVT fluid those transmissions are very complex and require specific equipment and fluids
I've had the 2.5L S version since Sept 2012, and it is fantastic. Very comfortable and definitely hasn't started falling apart... I wish the combined gas mileage was above 30 as it claims. I drove economically and carefully most of the time, and just barely manage 28 mpg.
From what I got from the video, this car is very... average. Not too fast, not too slow. Not too expensive, not too cheap...
But that tire pressure thing is pretty damn cool.
3.5 fifth generation Altimas are having CVT problems. Just had to have my 2014 with less than 3500 miles on it (on its 3rd xmission) taken back under the lemon law. In exchange, asked for a 2.5 with technology package. Better mileage and I'm ok with that. Will miss the G-force acceleration but won't miss the failing CVTs. Met a person w/2013 3.5SL (18000 on odometer) asked if they were having transmission problems. Answer is yes. Never had a problem with the 2012 2.5 I traded for this one, so am looking forward to far better reliability w/the 2014 2.5SL. Save your money and stick with the most efficient model.
Did he say the car hunks at you to let you know stop airing her, now that's wassup!
Cam Mims ikr
Just bought mine so I'm still learning all the features... That's pretty cool
I purchased a new 2.5 SL and the low speed lag you mentioned is actually a low RPM harmonic distortion, not a lack of power. Shift into Ds (Drive Sport mode) and you won't experience that because the RPM starts slightly higher. I'm averaging 31.9 mpg combined city/hwy calculated using miles driven divided by gallons used not the dash reading which is always higher. I compared the Accord, Focus and Mazda 6 before purchasing the Altima and I'm pleased with the choice. The Mazda 6 was a close 2nd
Did your transmission ever fail?
@@kid5042 No, it hasn't. I still own it and driving on the original CVT.

the cloth seat is already falling apart... :P
Yea, but I'm sure stitching coming apart like that isn't normal, it may be a problem with this specific press car, but it could be easily repaired by the dealer
Memory foam piñata. You win at life, sir.
interior does looks cozy
I had one of these as a hire car in 2016. I loved it. Shame Nissan don’t sell it in the UK.
I have a 2013 altima sl and i love it great features for the price. I average 25mpg and i do a lot of city driving on the highway if im driving at 60 mph i average around 38 mpg. But i live in the city so stop and go traffic makes my mpg suffer.
If you want a vehicle with 38-39 M.P.G. ( U.S.) with a very reliable engine but hard ride then the Altima is for you.
I have a 2004 model and those seats are very comfortable but other than that some parts begin to wear out very early 3yrs to be exact, not happy altima owner.
Good review & great Altima.
Don't you feel power sluggishness with the 2.5 litter engine and CVT?
2 things....the entire dash is not hard plastic..only the part he so conveniently decided to touch😒...the lower part of the dash is soft touch. ..and 2nd...I'm 5'10 as well and I had plenty of room in the back seat without my head touching the liner...sometimes these reviewers can be overly critical
I know right.
Do you guys use a filter or is the sun always setting while filming?
😆 5 years later
Always entertaining, more videos plz
I have the 2.5sl with 22k on it. Its like driving a new car.
I can't believe the MPG! That's blows my mind. Can anyone claim they got those numbers with out driving like a old lady?
Nop I drove 400 kms on indicated 136 kms of the range all due to the cvt at 120-130 kph
Good reviews
Just looked at a 2016 Camry, Honda and then the Altima. The Nissan looks better and the interior is way better. Looks more upscale than the others. The cvt problems are gone and software updated. So i bought the Altima. Im in the freight business and live in the south, we haul tons of parts for Nissan,Toyota and Honda. So if they give me there business ill give them mine. #HollandRegional
Dam were you wrong about those CVTs
@@kid5042 what do you mean?
Still have the car !?
@@thunderspence8183 I traded it shortly after buying.
What the, the stitches on the driver's seat side bolsters is coming apart already. Yeah it's probably a worn press car. But expect the same in a year or so of normal ownership.
kinda weird seeing familiar(overly) roads in these videos.
The cloth looks dirty and it's already falling apart.
good review but im still getting the accord
I drove the Altima before and I would say that the Honda accord is a much better sedan. Specially the 4 cyl model. Don't buy this car without driving the Honda accord.
2013 video?
This is the SV model, so of course it will have hard plastic. Nissan should have sent them an SL
Yes!
note the tall shadows
altima or sentra
nice model too bad their transmission gives way at 50,000 miles!
Mines at 90k kms in the middle eastern heat, no problems so far.
Mines a 2013 with 129k no problems
@@miking3261 I am glad for you, I will be considering buying a new Nissan Murano next year, they actually got much better especially when it comes to their transmissions!
Not true at all, I have 132,000K miles on my 2015 2.5L 4cyl Altima and the motor and transmission still rides like the day I bought it off the showroom floor.
You sound like Rob Schneider
This is a great reminder to do a lot more research. You could even think this was a good car by watching the video. Except this car was one of the worst to ever come to existence.
so true mine broke down in 4 weeks
0:52 is broken. D:

Its small as hell the 2006 altima was hudge compared to this they shrunk it
I miss my 2006 Altima 2.5 SL :( got t-boned and it was totaled a couple weeks ago. Got it at 62K miles, drove it until 145K miles over 7.5 years.
don't like the seats
>22,000 means less than 22,000...
Uh no, 24000>20000, 'X' >22000 means greater than.
ŸÊÃ!✊🏼
Lay off the sassy bad jokes

I thought from {1:22-1:25} was the cutest, stupidest thing i've ever seen in a car review.
Beware of you buy a CVT vehicle from Nissan. They are unreliable and noise. Sigh I can't wait for the recall
I have 40k miles on my altima and it's very quiet and smooth. no problems
Are you sayng because of your one Altima with 40k mile on it. Nissan Shouldn't be held responsible for all other CVT?
+Vince Leonard He's saying that the only thing you read on the internet is bad things. The thousands of other customers are happy, thus don't require a complaint. I know, the internet can make you feel insecure, but you probably just got a lemon.
90k miles on our murano, quiet and smooth as well....
Terrible to hear, 15' altima owner here, 30k miles and only thing I hear is the 9 speaker stereo haha
not side of the seat Bih😂😂😂😂😂😉😉
A passat is a better choice in my opinion.
Nissan Altima. The worst car ever. Dont buy it guys. I am trapped
To you maybe... I love my Altima.
Don't drive like an idiot and take care of your engine
These cars are French JUNK!
French? Nissan is Japanese
also not junk, i'm loving my altima
Josh
Yes, FRENCH!
