Zook Hero Z isn't a bad Mega Man bootleg at all. Sure, it's a complete ripoff at times, but some parts are original too. Also, the track that plays on the Meet Castle (Cosmos City) Map is basically a slowed down version of the Stardroid Battle theme from Mega Man V on Game Boy. The track that used for "Castle" Stages just after is even a remix of Pluto's theme from the same game.
Those drums are almost going as hard as the GBA sintax games. Also, fun fact, the game uses Mega Man V GB's sounds, but they use the wrong one almost every time. Edit: 41:24 That music is just Pluto's stage from Mega Man V GB, with the pitch changed and the drums going in HARD.
The music that plays during the castle map scene is also taken from MMV, specifically the boss theme. Kinda bizarre why they did this considering the rest of the game has an original soundtrack, I’m guessing time constraints.

It’s like they ran out of time at the end and just ripped stuff from MM6 and 5 GB to fill up what was left. Also the flame robot master (officially known as Fire Magician) actually showed up in Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, a pretty popular Megaman fangame. Said fangame also had a level using music from this game.
As a fan of the MM series, I quite enjoyed this game. The mini bosses are annoying but they could be worse. The sequel is just more of the same, but all of the issues here are worse: Even worse minibosses you can't dodge, boring boss fights, cheap enemy placements and patterns, and no boss weaknesses. We're talking "change a note here or there" levels of theft. Don't get me wrong, everything in this game is ganked from various Mega Man places (about half-and-half classic and X), but they were putting in more than the legal minimum effort until that point.

Most of them (Scorch Man, Plant Dude, Armored Robot) just make it fire more projectiles or one larger one (I've found the plant charge in particular does a TON of damage to bosses though), while the Mine Robo's charge shot is a big forward shield you can throw (doesn't block projectiles though), Ice Medusa's fires one projectile that then explode into four directions, like a self-destructing Dust Crusher, and the sea monster's weapon becomes a bubble shield that unfortunately is kinda useless (only takes one hit, also only interacts with enemies and its hitbox is too small so you'll most likely get hit trying to use it)
funny enough there is an actual manual for this game that adds more lore and a tiny bit more story. Also, the sequel to this game is pretty much worse in almost every single way to its terrible level design which makes you do forced damage and the bosses overall being worse (by the way it’s difficult to track down a rom that even has the bosses most of the roms out there don’t have them but this is only for the six robot master the rest of the game's bosses should be still there.) and there are a lot more stolen things but the only positive is that the art style had an improvement and it helps make it a bit more distinct but that sadly doesn't save the game in the slightest, funny enough there's a closing credits to that game (with stolen assets) but yet the first game doesn't have one. There is another game in this series for the game boy advance but don’t even bother checking it out because it's trash and it's just like every other bootleg as well it is full of stolen stuff also it even uses the same sound chip as the other two games as well as only two people worked on it, this game is named is Rockman and Crystal.
I played said sequel and I'll give it one thing, the checkpoint placement is WAY better than this game's. Every stage has like four or five checkpoints now instead of Zook 1 only having two (or flat-out none in the intermission fortress)
A bit sad that this bootleg series peaked in the first game, I guess the talent that put a lot of effort either wasn't present for the second one or they were using it to train new people or something.

Why is there a moai with a Georgian wig at 20 minutes in? This game isn’t that bad, with a few tweaks (better collision, shorter mini bosses, less finicky controls for some moves, and some level design tweaks including the upgrades not making you replay the level) it could be pretty fun and the music is great. Would like to see more (vast fame) games on this channel, Digimon Sapphire on the gba for example, which I managed to find a real copy of, and its pretty good, quite similar to this but a bit better i think
Vast Frame reused a lot of their and Sintax's music in the games they made, same thing with this game. I recognize a lot of the music from those Sintax playformers (Rayman IV, Mario DX etc.) and the rpgs that Vast Frame developed like Shi Kong Xing Shou and Digimon Rury.
I put that in the video as a reference to my previous video, to acknowledge that the music was made by Vast Fame. It never appears in this game, that track was made for Soul Falchion.

Although I get Robocop vibes too. ^.^ But yeah. 8 man was a Japanese detective whose life was placed into an android body (Thus making him a cyborg technically?) after he was murdered though. x.x.
