Incredible Snare Drum! I have this one and the 20 ply maple/birch. These drums are in my top shelf along with a few Dunnett's. I prefer the 5"x14" 's. They respond faster, crisper and more versatile.

Possibly the best PEARL snare I’ve heard 👍🏿

I have this exact 5 x 14 snare. I bought it one year ago. I sold the hoops on ebay (for $100.00) and replaced them with Tama Mighty Brass Hoops ($80.00 brand new.) If you play a Tama Mighty Brass Hoop by itself, it sounds like you're playing a triangle (lotta ring.) I also replaced the snare strainer with a Rhythm Tech pre-stretched strainer (It performs everything the ad says... more attack, less Maraca sound, more precise sound, lets the snareside head breath a little. I use a Remo 14X. I tune my top head extremely high and snareside very low (it's so thin, even very low seems tight.) I take the rubbers off of the snare basket so as to have as little contact as possible with the bottom hoop. I can best describe the sound by referring you to Pearl Jam's Alive, which is what I was going for anyhow.

I wish you good folks would share your tunning method with the people who watch these videos. Nothing is more frustrating for a lot of people who buy a drum, and can't get it to sound right.I know there's a lot of different tunning methods ,what I'm asking for is very simple.after the drum is finger tight how many 1/2 turns top and bottom for each of the sounds your recording.from low to hi.i know you might have to tweak a couple lugs here and there, but you guys would be amazed on the response you would get,not to mention probably some sales. No one wants to do this and I don't understand why. Not that many drum shops around these days.not that many people laying out big bucks for equipment. I would try to help people as much as I could. Just my opinion,!!!
