I saw the demo at NAMM and heard the sound already, and I can't tell you all that you have to hear it to believe. It's not in a video on youtube that you can judge this kind of products. This can only tell you some specs and make you want to know more. But THE SOUND IS UNBELIEVABLE! I also play in lots of places with Mackie, JBL, HK ... and this is much much better!
The 500 number is just being conservative - the system in the middle of the room at NAMM was running 10,000 watts. For some rooms, that's plenty of power for that many people.
I am sure this sounds great, but I don't see anything that would compel me to pick this over a Bose L1 Model II w/ToneMatch Engine ( which is what I already have ). Considering from what my math tells me this would be as much money or more to cover the same amount of space.

We had one, actually - it was my fault for shuffling around like Richard Lewis all the time :-)
