5:07 This is actually incorrect, Kishimoto has directed Sonic Colors, Sonic Lost World, Sonic Forces, and Sonic Frontiers. For the storybook series, he was a level designer. I'll have the other directors listed under this. Sonic and the Secret Rings: Yojiro Ogawa Sonic and the Black Knight: Tetsu Katano 22:23 This symbol does indeed have a meaning. In a side story in the Final Horizon, it is explained that the symbol represents the god of the Ancients, despite how much technology they have. I'm very impressed with this video. I can tell that everyone involved gave it their all to make this the best it could be, and as a small content creator, I love seeing that kind of work ethic. Great job! 👍
I’m glad you edited Kishimoto was the one who actually said The End takes the form of what each person believes death to look like. But you didn’t mention that he explained that The End is a moon because the moon has been used by people as a symbol of death in mythology and fiction many times as it’s the counterpart to the sun which commonly depicts life.
27:14 In Greek mythology, Chaos was a neverending void and darkness (an eternal "fall" of sorts) that predated the creation of the Gods. After Chaos, came Gaia (the Earth) and Uranus (the Sky). They had many children, which were the titans; the most important one was Cronos (Later known to represent the Time, since its... birth circumstances... led to the creation of the space between the sky and the earth, and thus time as part of this space). So Frontiers locations relate a lot to the Greek Cosmogony.
34:06, Yes, we brazilians flood Sonic's Social medias asking for localization, i am proud to have been part of this, now every sonic Game got Subtitles, and this makes more people want to give the game a chance
After watching that premiere this video was just PEAK and I enjoyed it! I love every single unused Sonic Frontiers content in this video. You should do more of these videos in the future.
That makes me wonder what would have gone down in the 3 island version of the story where Chaos Island was the final island, perhaps a trip to that World Ship mentioned in that scrapped dialogue
26:14 As a brazillian, I can say that the localization is very good. Personally I liked how they handled many terms related to the franchise, such as the Chaos Emeralds (called Esmeraldas Chaos). They could've translated "Chaos" as "Caos", but it would probably take a meaning of something that brings only disaster. Instead it was treated as a specific name. Same goes for Rings (not being called Anéis or Argolas), Egg Memos being called "Anotações do Egg", etc.
Definitely worth the wait. You two are already one of my favorite Sonic channels, so you two teaming up for this video was the cherry on top of the cake. Great work you two, this has been a blast! Frontiers is also my favorite 3D Sonic game BTW. 😅
28:28 actually the English script by Ian Flynn IS the original script of the game and all the game cutscenes are lip synched to it, the japanese script is infamous in the japanese comunitu for how much it changes the original meaning of the story
Really well done video, it’s a shame the developers couldn’t make everything they wanted but to have something we can even consider good is a blessing. Maybe if we get lucky one day we could get a behind the scenes look or maybe a director’s cut.
"They like don't stop me now because sonic is in the lyrics" or maybe because the song has sonic energy? Like he ENJOYS running and going fast and doesn't like being stopped or slowed down. The song itself is something I could picture being on his personal playlist and Sega probably feels the same way
50:34 I think this is simply another cyloop easter egg. There are actually quite a few guardians that have special behavior when you cyloop them, though you never see anyone mention them because of their obscurity For example, quick cylooping Silver Hammer+’s head causes the rest of its body to explode, leaving only the head. Then the head erratically flies around spamming a bunch of explosive projectiles. Quick cylooping the head two more times from there kills the boss instantly (not sure if this happens with the other Tower variants or the original Silver Hammer since they all die before I build up the bar to do a third quick cyloop) As another example, cylooping Asura’s leg causes the boss to lift its foot up. Then you can homing attack the foot to make a portal gear pop out. You can also do this with the other leg, essentially squeezing 3 gears out of 1 guardian
1. Kellin Quinn One thing worth mentoning is that he was one of the co-writers on the album "Loveless I" by Loveless which was produced by Julian Comeau and mastered by Tyler Smyth. Comeau was one of the co-writers of Undefeatable, Break Through It All and Find Your Flame and did back vocals for said songs. And Tyler Smyth... Infinite, Green Light Ride remix, Frozen Junkyard, Thunder Deck and titan themes in Frontiers except original I'm Here. Thank him for bringing heavier sound to the Sonic discography. 2. Ian Flynn No, he's not a lore master with how many errors Encyclo-speed-ia has and how much it focuses on Wetsern non-game Sonic content yet ignores Japanese non-game content. 3. Sage YOU FORGOT TO MENTION MEGUMI HAYASHIBARA 4. Sonic Adventure Iizuka pretty much spoiled what Frontiers is by hoping it being new SA1 because Frontiers is the same story in some way. The ancient civilization being wiped out for flying too close to the sun, the final boss is the "sun" and the main characters in both games are Sonic, Tails, Amy, Eggman, Big (lol) and Eggman's creation with identity crisis. There also are some similar plot bits in both games. One of my favorites is Knuckles' resolution in JP script because it's basically the same thing from SA1 but reversed. 5. Sticks See Sonic Comic by Eitaro Toyoda. They were released to celebrate Sonic's 25th anniversary and some of them feature Sticks. 6. Death Egg Robot Team Sonic Racing was developed by Sumo Digital with Sonic Team's supervision and Flynn isn't related neither to TSR nor Speed Simulator. And Chaos in Greek mythology is the void preceding the creation of the universe or cosmos, meanwhile Chaos Island has active volcanos and volcanos can form islands so they precede the creation of the land. And about 27:17. No, Asura is a term from hinduism. 8. Jenga Final Horizon didn't nned to explain everything. Just why? 9. The End's true form What Kishimoto actually said is that The End's appearance is based on the person's vision of death. It's still a weird way to explain The End being a moon because moon is related to death in terms of symbolism but mostly in the context of the cycles. Also you play as Sage so it's what death is to her, ask her.
37:21 Probably already explained by other people, but to trigger that attack, you just have to do the same thing for Wyvern's laser attack, continuously deal damage and parry all of his attacks without using Grand Slam
49:22 its not just that he appears in it, its that the section he appears in is literally infinites theme in that song, just with different lyrics and a slightly different ending
15:55 additional context for the Korone (Pronounced Ko-ro-ne, not Kor-own): Inugami Korone of Hololive Production is one of Sega Japan's Sonic ambassadors, having not only the in-game collab DLC, but also her own Live2D model based on Sonic. The Koco models are how she illustrated her fanbase, known as Koronesuki
40:34 ngl it could make sense if you remember unleashed, specifically night of the wherehog where sonic looks visibly afraid after he sees the moon before transforming into the wherehog. Maybe bro just has unleashed ptsd lol
The voice lines talking about the Ancients' World Ship also have Sage and Sonic talking about getting the 'last' chaos emerald there too. In the final game, it's bizarre that Eggman simply hands Sonic the last emerald on Ouronos, getting it off-screen. Perhaps visiting the World Ship was the intended means of getting the last chaos emerald early in development, before Ouronos was made the final island and they just decided to have Eggman hand it to you?
Oh that's a great point... In the final horizon, sage also mentions that the giant pyramid thing on ouranos island is a terminal that transported ancients to their ships. I wonder if that's how you got there before
40:23 Is it possible that the reason we see The End as a moon is because of Sonic's time as the Werehog? I'm not sure if he was necessarily scared of the moon, but what it meant, since Sonic's Werehog transformation in Unleashed only happened during nighttime, and the moon is very much an icon that can be used to depict the night.
26:12 I am brazilian, and I can say for sure it was a nice localization overall. My only complaint is that they could've chosen some words more carefully for Sage, as she seems a bit more "informal" in the localization (she doesn't use outright slangs, but some words could've been translated to more "formal" synonyms). 27:06 There is a god named "Chaos" in greek mythology. They are the first god to ever exist in the universe, and is the common ancestor of all deities in the greek pantheon, as they created the primordial gods such as Gaia, Uranus and Tartarus, the latter of which they had together Nyx, the night godess. Chaos' appearances are limited to the creation myth, that's why most people don't know about them. 31:41 Maybe we could theorize The End's attack created a cataclysm which flooded the world and brought those parts of the islands with it.
19:13 Funny thing is, Mania had Denuvo till Mania was decompiled by fans. And then there was an update that removed Denuvo 39:38 honestly, it would be cooler if the super forms had longer hair while base Sonic has short hair
Now i got an idea... You said that 《The End》 takes on whatever Form, our Character is the most scared of. Sonic could be scared of the Moon, cause in UNLEASHED, back then he always transformed into an Werehog.
37:21 The best way to get this Giganto attack is to get a chain of attacks for a long period of time. The best way to get the attack to happen is by doing a basic combo with phantom rush and using the Sonic Boom. It also works with Supreme's fight too
I think the dialogue referencing the other tribes of the Ancients also ties into Chaos's other forms in SA1. Powerful bodies could tie into Chaos 2, a Knuckles exclusive fight. The ones that evolved tails to live in the ocean sounds reminiscent of Chaos 4, who takes on a Fish-like appearance. the one that walks on all fours ties back to Chaos 6, which walked on 4 legs. The Intelligent ones would then be Chaos 0, as that's the only tribe that survived to escape to earth, and the ones that eventually evolved into chao, which Chaos comes from. Would be interesting to learn if there was a Perfect Chaos equivalent, but probably not.
6:55 fun fact the first time you do fishing, its not randomized. all the fish required for 100% will be fished up in a specific order. after you 100% the fishing, it will then be randomized lol There were also unused master trials left in update 2 lol
I haven't had a chance to check the comments, so sorry if someone already pointed this out, but Chaos Island does have a connection to Greek Myth, though not a god named Chaos. In Hesiod's Theogony, an acccount of the Greek creation story, the world started out with a concept/god/essense named Chaos, whom all other gods were eventually descendant from. Chaos does not really appear beyond that in Greek Myth, but it is a possible connection.
17:37 I run into that the end dialogue because I keep trying to beat a platorming challenge for too long in the same area and the game thinks I am doing nothing. The game just force me to stand still and listen the end yap for 2+ freaking minutes. I freaking hated that
Imagining how I'd want Frontiers changed besides accessibility and difficulty adjustments... Have an option to have the Memory Token/Koco Icons on the Map to appear at the START of the platforming section, not the Last! Having to backtrack to find that start really ruins the flow state. Make Giganto a little bit faster, and also give her a jumping Smash Sonic Down Air Attack. This is a giant we're fighting, not a sloth, nor a stationary wall! Give Wyvern staggering damage. It'd be so cool if you could wail on him into the mountain side. Promise that the underground waterway on Ares Island and the sulfur pools on Khaos Island will inspire levels in future Sonic Games. Those two places really stood out to me. Make Rhea Island a dead forest, depending on how many towers you have left. It's thematically appropriate. Make Ouranos Island fog 24/7. Lots of fog! It can't be in the sky like Khaos Island, but it can emulate the look! Give Supreme those attacks back. I'd like it to be mapped to the button, but it looks so cool! Change the Post-Credits ending of the Base Story. Instead of Final Horizons being a separate timeline, combine the two with the creation of a single cutscene; Instead of Sonic and Co leaving(save that for Final Horizon's Ending) and Eggman reviving Sage, there's instead a bunch of red and blue glitches in a dark foreground. Sage's voice is heard. "Self-Termination resulted in Father's pain. Simulation Rejected." Base Game Ouranos is a simulation, and seeing her own death prompted Sage to go the Final Horizon route instead.
I have a huge stretch when it comes to the take on the ancient world ship. What if the place where Sonic begins his open world journey, the introduction in Kronos Island, was never meant to be the introductory place at all? And instead of it being the introduction to the open world, it was meant to be a place to teleport to the ancient world ship? It would probably explain why the cutscene looks so weird, with the textures and the rain looking very dated, and would also explain why there’s a significant amount of detail on the top of the hills where you begin the open world. Things like decorated stones that resemble the shrine locations in the open world, and even walls to run on. It could be possible that, just like the red teleporters in Sky Sanctuary, there was meant to be a device or shrine that would teleport you from there to the ancient worldship. Again, it’s a huge stretch but I think it would be interesting nonetheless.
It could be that sonic is the one who's afraid of the moon, as it may be giving him PTSD from when he would turn into the warehog and night during the events of sonic unleashed
a slight correction for the ends true form: we dont know what any of the characters see the end as, the moon is meant to only be what the player sees. apparently the moon is associated with death in some cultures?
5:01 not gonna lie, it's funny how a dude named morio is developing sonic games. it's like how the ceo of nintendo is named Bowser 15:03 🖐️ Literally peak fiction 🤚 52:55 oh my god... Is that a super emerald???
The moral of the story here is that the smallest decisions can have the big impact. Imagine if Frontiers didn't have the metal music in the Titan fights or if the open zones had no platforming. I genuinely don't think Frontiers would have been as much of a crticial and commercial success if these 2 changes never happened, Kishimoto wouldn't direct again anytime soon, and we might not have ever gotten another big Sonic game again.
Ngl kinda like the idea of sonic getting amnesia flashes, imagine if it was because of cyber corruption. We would've had not just a unique animation but voice lines, epic.
26:24 it's decent, and it serves its purpose without many flaws, but well... there are flaws, such as memory items getting translated as "mnemonic items". It's correct grammar, but for a more natural sounding translation, you'd need to write it as "items of memory" For what it seems, this would sound formal and maybe even some symbolic intellectual linguistic choice bs, but here it's normal. "Name of thing" + "quality of thing" in this order
Fun fact: as far as i know sonic frontiers is not the first game with the homing dash, I think the first game to have that isn't even a sonic game (it is sonic inspired though), i think it was spark the electric jester 3, but there it's called the magnet dash & before it was mentioned in the frontiers speed strats, it was fandubbed as the magnet dash, which is / was called in spark 3

Awesome Video Bro. Sonic Frontiers is Sonic's version of Breath Of The Wild. I wonder what Sonic's version of Tears Of The Kingdom will be like.
37:21 The best way to get this Giganto attack is to get a chain of attacks for a long period of time. The best way to get the attack to happen is by doing a basic combo with phantom rush and using the Sonic Boom. It also works with Supreme's fight too
oh nice!
Dude I always thought about how the final battle with eggman in the movie is referenced in the sumo boss! Can’t believe you noticed too!
47:48 Actually, it’s the other way around for Wyvern and Supreme
Can’t wait
peak sf productions content
I am so fucking ready! 🤩
love this video man, good stuff
Glad you enjoyed it!

You know it’s a good video when the intro is less than a minute!!
42:33 sometimes i wish we never had a switch version of every mainline sonic
Dude it’s crazy how that Batman comment is actually coming to fruition 5 years later
6:55 fun fact the first time you do fishing, its not randomized. all the fish required for 100% will be fished up in a specific order. after you 100% the fishing, it will then be randomized lol
There were also unused master trials left in update 2 lol
I haven't had a chance to check the comments, so sorry if someone already pointed this out, but Chaos Island does have a connection to Greek Myth, though not a god named Chaos. In Hesiod's Theogony, an acccount of the Greek creation story, the world started out with a concept/god/essense named Chaos, whom all other gods were eventually descendant from. Chaos does not really appear beyond that in Greek Myth, but it is a possible connection.
42:38 my theory is that the pink haired woman is actually an early version of sage
26:54 probably because sega doesn’t own the music for GHZ
Wait what
@@SFproductions1 the soundtracks for sonic 1 and 2 are owned by Masoto Nakamura, not sega. whenever they wanna use it they have to pay royalties
Also I leave comments as I watch videos a lot of times so that’ll most likely explain if one of my comments contradicts something later in the video.
17:37 I run into that the end dialogue because I keep trying to beat a platorming challenge for too long in the same area and the game thinks I am doing nothing. The game just force me to stand still and listen the end yap for 2+ freaking minutes. I freaking hated that
52:50 i thought it was a broken portal from sky sanctuary. awesome vid btw
thank you!
I heard that Super Duper Sonic was originally going to be Hyper Sonic according to Ian Flynn, but it was rejected by SEGA.
Change the Post-Credits ending of the Base Story. Instead of Final Horizons being a separate timeline, combine the two with the creation of a single cutscene;
Instead of Sonic and Co leaving(save that for Final Horizon's Ending) and Eggman reviving Sage, there's instead a bunch of red and blue glitches in a dark foreground. Sage's voice is heard.
"Self-Termination resulted in Father's pain. Simulation Rejected."
Base Game Ouranos is a simulation, and seeing her own death prompted Sage to go the Final Horizon route instead.

I was so upset that this wasn't real. Maybe one day...
37:52 I usually do a 200 combo only with homming attack/phantom rush
It could be that sonic is the one who's afraid of the moon, as it may be giving him PTSD from when he would turn into the warehog and night during the events of sonic unleashed
there's no mystery. sage brought knuckles into cyber space
37:22 I expected this to be the jump move he does when he's close to the edge of the arena
Same, especially since it was also featured in the leaked footage.
Oreogod haven't responded in a while thanks to college
Bickuribox12 jumpscare
a slight correction for the ends true form: we dont know what any of the characters see the end as, the moon is meant to only be what the player sees. apparently the moon is associated with death in some cultures?
5:01 not gonna lie, it's funny how a dude named morio is developing sonic games. it's like how the ceo of nintendo is named Bowser
15:03 🖐️ Literally peak fiction 🤚
52:55 oh my god...
It's correct grammar, but for a more natural sounding translation, you'd need to write it as "items of memory"
For what it seems, this would sound formal and maybe even some symbolic intellectual linguistic choice bs, but here it's normal.
49:00 Kronos island movement 4 music also refrences infinites boss fight theme lol
It would’ve been cool to have Big playable in the third update as well…
