In Indonesia, the myth is that if there is a gecko in the house, the owner of the house will be blessed with good fortune.

Geckos were popular as pets in Florida years ago. People would buy them to control bugs in homes and it was good until they realized that gecko's had messy droppings--all over 😂. Interestingly, the ability of geckos to climb most surfaces is due to the bottom of a gecko's foot will consist of millions of hairy structures called setae.

First of all congrats on your 10K subscribers! .Didn't know there was sparkling sake:) Garden looks better every week. You have still space and time to plant some more.Food shown was great especially sashimi. We have abundance of fish in New Zealand to reasonable prices.Unfortuantely very few species of river fish which I was used to in Europe. That geckos colour was interesting.I never saw that before.I hope those steps and paths you are walking from the slopes are not slippery..All in all you make sure to have good days even if it rains cats and dogs:) Cheers

I just finished some Midnight spaghetti and am enjoying your nice vlog from rainy-but-still-lovely-Nagasaki. Am always fond of your Refrigerator reveals and the fact that whenever you give a "Thumbs-Up Signal"...deep down you know life is good. Always a nice peaceful vibe. Your neighbor friend, the gecko, you should give him a name. All good friends have names.
Wow! You need to weigh anchor and set sail to go for groceries these days. My goodness that's a lot of water.
The garden is looking better. I suspect the edamame is going to make a nice come back. If you need any potato recipes please let me know.
I'm terribly jealous that you can get such wonderful sashimi - totally delish Dude!! And that Sara Udon looks mighty tasty too.
And look at you with the new cutting board??!!??!! *claps hands* Whooo Hooo! Go Sho Go!
Thank you for posting another update on life in Nagasaki - try to stay dry!!!

Thank you for another glimpse into your life! Good luck with the guiding, you are so good at it. (Echoing other comments. it might be worth confirming with your guests what they will and will not eat as the definition of vegetarianism can be blurry, depending on the culture...) -- I love it that you show us the provenance of some of the foodstufs. Please don't stop, it's so interesting! Thank you again -- life indeed goes on. Till next time...

The little gecko paws took away all my stress from work. It must be nice to be a guide in a place that you like so much (are you originally from Nagasaki or did you make it your soul home?). I also love that it is the rainy season, the trees and leaves look so shiny, full of life! Best moment to take pictures of nature! Also, the rainwater falling from the slopes is magical I would love to open the windows and just read in such weather. Oh, and I don't think I will ever get tired of watching the making of the miso soup haha However, I would like you to try a new dish to use some of the potatoes: Spanish omelette. Simple, delicious, and hearty (and cheap). And I think the focus of the camera is blurry so that you have an excuse to buy more fish and eat it deliciously again. Oh, and I really laughed out loud when you tasted the beer and you were like oh it's so delicious haha I could see the passion in your eyes for it.

I love your new cutting board! It handles the chopping a lot easier than the white cutting board you had. Also, many of my other Japanese TH-camrs that I watch always say Itadakamasu and Gochiosama deshita before and after a meal (forgive if I misspelled 😊😉). I feel it’s special to bless our meals because I am grateful I don’t have to go hungry. Have a good evening Sho 🙏🏽

Great video as usual! Having said that, I've got a small backlog to work on, so I'll get around to commenting on the videos I haven't watched yet.
Yeah, the rainy season in Nagasaki can be pretty tough. I've worked at schools located on top of hills before, and getting down the hills in heavy rain was quite dicey.
Have you been to Juma Cafe near Urakami Cathedral?
It's good that you're taking the time to research locations and places to eat at for the people you'll be guiding around Nagasaki. While I'm not vegetarian myself, I've had to look for places serving vegetarian food for one of my kouhais when he arrived in Nagasaki in 2022.
Sara udon! I miss that so much. There's a Japanese restaurant near where I live that does serve a pretty good champon, but it's more difficult to find sara udon here in Australia, if there are any restaurants that do serve it.
I also miss the fresh sashimi in Nagasaki, and yes, having a beer is a good way to enjoy it. (Well, non-alcoholic malt beverages, in my case. I stopped drinking alcohol before moving to Japan.)

Hi Nagasaki San - your new cypress cutting board looks great! It will make a big difference and you will be happy with it. Try not always peeling your potato. Only peel for mash. The skin of potato is high in nutrients. Just wash thoroughly and chop with skin on, use olive oil for frying it will make the skin crispy and taste delicious. Please take a video with your American tourists at the Peace Park. It will be good to see their reaction if they allow a video. Just do your best always. Kind regards from Perth Australia. John.

However, if I had to list the reasons:
      - My friends in Rwanda
      - The culture (such as dance, crafts, and language)
      - The history that provides profound learning for humanity.

      @Cow_Juice 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

Greetings. I mean no offense with this reply to your comment, but that matter was really on you, rather than on both the countries you visited.
Is it isn't their fault that fish is a staple in their diet. Japan is well known for their love of seafood. The consumption of fish, as part of their diet is so ingrained that it has become part of their identity, their heritage, their identity, their custom and their culture.
And lest I be misunderstood, kindly consider the following points:
      1) First and foremost, there is nothing wrong with being a vegetarian or a vegan for that matter. That is absolutely fine.
      2) However to every sensible person who reads your comment, the way you worded your story makes it appear as if you are blaming them for not accommodating your personal preference
      3) You shouldn't expect one culture to bend over backwards just to accommodate your own. The burden was on you, to find alternatives that would have accommodated your preference and your diet.
It isn't the Japanese people's fault that veganism or vegetarianism, (although existing) isn't as prevalent nor widespread, like it is in the west.
      4) I am of the opinion that foreigners, who visit other countries, should have reasonable expectations.
      5) I am equally of the opinion that foreigners who travel to other countries, likewise have the burden of adapting to the respective counties they wish to visit.
After all, isn't it part of common courtesy and human decency that guests should show respect to his, her or their host?
I'm sorry to belabor the point but as I mentioned earlier, you as a guest to their country, had the sole burden of finding means to accommodate your preference and your diet.
You should have researched and made prior preparations and arrangements before hand, with establishments offering vegetarian meals, before you even visited the country.
Expecting them to know and cater to your whims and wishes is not at all reasonable, given the facts I earlier mentioned.
Thank you and please keep these in mind.

    • @ocin7917
      @ocin7917 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

@@Cow_Juice I agree. We had two different understandings of what a vegetarian was/is. I guess, I was just thinking about Sir going to all the trouble of finding fish restaurants when maybe the Americans don’t eat fish. But I see that it is not really my place to put an opinion across. I apologise for my misunderstanding.
