@3:00 One tip I've seen in other videos that I have found helpful is to back away as far as possible until you're right on the edge of the range of placeability so that the middle of the tile is no longer a viable snapping point being out of range and the only in-range snapping point left is on the edge. Easier to do as admin in fly mode but maybe not so easy if your on the ground and the are visual obstructions making it hard to see where it's going to snap to when you're that far away.
@@GrannyGamester You explained an issue I had been having when new, I was wondering how to define, well done! On positioning the drawbridge and raising and lowering the bridge!
Just got found out about Conan Exiles not too long ago and came across your channel! Thank you so much for all your content, all your videos have been so helpful for me as a starter!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I like building bridges in the game, and drawbridges are a great way of avoiding pillar supports when the gap is really close and giving some options for controlling access to your base during purges. I always forget that they need foundations when I haven't played for a while, but you can get around that by attaching a foundation to the bottom of the ceiling tiles for the gate to snap to. I even have a double drawbridge going over the gap in the shortcut between the jungle and the highlands. I think my singleplayer games are more about fixing all the broken bridges than it is about survival.
@@GrannyGamester What is your game hour metre at now? I just peaked over 600 and logged in over three different hosted servers finally setting up a privately hosted dedicated server testing out the Admin and creative for the first time based off of your presentation production videos!
@@GrannyGamester My city base is over on the green zone it rains every day but no sandstorms lots of renewing resources, good iron and colt sources, far from coal or spiders I find though unless anyone knows something close by? grey rhinos are just through the pass right after the cats.
@5:17 I wish all the different architectural styles that come from all the DLCs each game with there own unique drawbridge to match. It's so disappointing to put a lot of effort into building a big glorious castle only to have to put in the rickety drawbridge that looks like it was built by Gilligan and the Skipper.
I think instead of the draw bridge I would make a tower to up with a vertical elevator then over with a horizontal elevator. Would that work if everything was lined up?
I often have lots of trouble with the vertical elevators. They don't like finding a valid end location when there is clearly plenty of open foundation space beneath my ideal placement location. I'm trying to hook it downward from some well supported ceilings to the foundations on my ground floor. No luck👎 It's been 3 months since the posting of this video but if anyone sees this and has a fix or any suggestions, I'm welcoming help with arms open. Thanks for reading this far^^
Hi PHANTOM :-) It is hard to say what the problem is with placing your elevator. You say your ceiling tiles are well supported, so it must have good stability using your repair hammer. There is nothing blocking it's decent down, you have foundations where you want it to end and there are no walls around the foundation you want it to end on. I would like to help you solve this issue but if we can't there will be changed in the 3.0 update that will fix it I am sure.
@@GrannyGamester I hope this issue gets resolved soon yes. I managed to get some part of my idea to work and I came to the conclusion that I think there's a required minimum distance between point a and point b. Not 100% on that cause I've had instances of successful placement for a short distance vertical elevator(3 square tiles or less). It really is hard to tell just what my issue was though thankfully alls well that ends well^^

@@PHANTOM-gq7ub Did you say you can verticle elevate less than 3 tiles? I found that any construction within any tile spaces next to the shaft zone, may impede elevators sometimes?
Let me clarify, The construction impediment seemed to apply during elevator installation mostly. in season 2 on a Shockbytes server I placed one 24 tiles high that was blocked until I removed a wall piece
Great video! First time I've seen the horizontal elevator used. On the ceiling tile gate placement, could you attach foundations to the edge of the ceiling tiles, set the gate on the juncture, then remove the foundations?
I think if you removed the foundation it would make it collapse but you could try it. If you use the fence foundations the gate will place on that with the ceiling tiles. Micheal 700 already commented that would work, so I tried it out and it does!.
hmmm, I'm having trouble placing my elevators in 3.0 and it doesn't seem anybody has done a video on what might have been changed. Maybe some new requirement. The game just keeps telling me "Unable to find a valid location" which is silly because there's a floor tile just a couple floors down for it to land on. I don't get what the problem is.
I just placed an elevator, but I am on a PC. If you are on a console that could be a glitch. If there is a fence or anything else on you tile that you are trying to attach it too, try removing it and then place your elevator. Sometimes they don't even like wall pieces on the tile. You will be able to place the walls or fences again once it is in place. Hope that works. :-)
@@GrannyGamester No, I'm on a pc too. I've been seeing some post from others experiencing the same bug. Apparently the vertical elevator doesn't work for short distances now. It's gotta be like 8 or more floors to place. If you're only going two floors we gotta suck it up and use a hatch and ladder until they fix it. I hate hatches and ladders. lol
I like the idea of having a small base, but everything is so big and bulky. Also just realized you have basically same stats as me, wonder if that’s the norm for players or coincidence
It's true that the pieces are big but you can still work with it if you build up instead of sprawled out like I tend to build. :-) I think it is coincidence that our stats are the same because the actual possibilities are endless. :-)

the desert scorpions are at the foot of the base.
Gates can also be placed on fence foundations. So a no-foundation build is still possible.
