I was always disappointed there never was a Capsule Monster Chess game. It looked way more interesting in the manga than Magic & Wizards. In that game, you win simply by having the stronger monster, while with Capsule Monster Chess, there is actual strategy and the monsters have special abilities.
No idea how I missed this one, but I'm real sad I did because growing up with the Yu-Gi-Oh manga all the different games were so cool to my young brain, and this is definitely something I would have loved to see in the west. Ah well, at least we got the dungeon dice monsters game...
I like different kinds of games rather than only stick to Duel Monsters, too... orz Luckily the season 0 story didnt ban in Asia lol, its just not widely spread.

This used to be my favorite game, before I knew that we could evolve monsters in the ranch, I used the original team and made ALL the way to Yami Yugi but could never beat him, it took ungodly amount of tries to win against Bakura, Kaiba and the likes with weakass monsters. My favorite monster I think was that green blob thing? It moves like Anzu's Heart monster thing but has 9 movement, literally could traverse to any space you want

It's based on the Capsule Monster game from season 0, but it uses characters from seasons 1 and 2 of the Duel Monsters anime. It also exclusively uses duel monsters rather than original monsters. It's actually a pretty fun hidden gem among the garbage that is most Yugioh games of the era.
Aura Fox very much so. God I loved that game, basically got me into strategy games and RPGs. Too bad they never really continued with that game in any way.
Yu Gi Oh Capsule Monsters Coliseum. I still have that game on my PS2 and i fucking love it I really wish the game gets a secuel, it's an amazing game that with a few fixes can be easily a good contender for the main card game

So i guess Kazuki Takahashi really thought the Capsule Monster game was gonna be big worldwide rather than Duel Monsters. That explains why this was the first game. My understanding is Pokemon just came out and he didn’t want to compete with the same idea so the manga diverged to the card game instead.

Ahhh, before even the convoluted _Forbidden Memories_ ! Personally, Season 0 is my favorite, and so was the manga published monthly in Shonen Jump West (while we had it)! I remember being super hooked on _Dungeon Dice Monsters_ when it came here for it's ridiculous short stint of one set, but I'll never forget how I was attracted to it in the first place. The original _Capsule Monsters!_ Great review! I guess I'll just have to be content with the GBA/PS2 releases...
So I came here because I felt bad about the lack of views addressed in the second episode of region freedom and... I. Want. This. Game. I can’t say it enough. I don’t play Pokémon, I don’t know yu-gi-oh, and I even don’t know chess but if this game got some magical remake in English on a modern console with a more challenging AI I would pay so much for that. I can’t imagine how fun it would be to invite friends over to play and trade or even over discord or something. I can’t think of another game like this honestly. I kinda left this video feeling a bit worse in a way (no offense love your stuff dude). Like I know that I’ll probably never experience this and that bums the shit out of me. There are SO many that won't come, but more recently companies seem to be giving chances to old games. Live A Live just released in English. Seiken Densetsu 3, Romancing SaGa 2 & 3 before that. Can't wait to see what else gets released in the future.
