After missing 5 biggins in one morning. I was determined to find a solution. That was on 5/14/20. Found your video and did it to all ploppers. Thanks so much. Now I rarely lose a fish and caught 30 4lbers, 2 5lbers, 1 7lber all on modified plopper 🤙🏽

@Erik Brandsen Awesome, dude! That's great. I am glad it helped you out. Congrats on a 7lber that's amazing. Is that a smallie, largie, or striper?

Another tip for any top water bait to increase hook-ups & reduce hook rash on the bait is to "T" the belly hook. The one downside to putting heat shrink on the rear hook is that storing the bait may become an issue.

@zib187 Yeah, gotta get those massive Plano boxes to store all of them!

David Dudley has a great video on this too!
I have NEVER caught a fish on one. In fact, over the course of the last five years, I have cast it everywhere I have fished. It has become my joke. Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, Roatan, Wisconsin (while we were slaying huge pike on everything else), Colorado, and on and on. Maybe I have a black one, maybe I should just get the bone colored.

@Tim hansen I am not sure about other species. But smallies absolutely crush whopper ploppers. But, if you are catching fish on other things and it's working for you - then keep doing what works!

Oh, I KNOW! It is one of those baits for me. Everyone smashes em with them. Larry Dahlberg is my favorite, and I feel I owe it to him to figure it out, or get lucky one of these times!

@I AM KAZIE Hey! Glad you can use the tip. Hopefully it helps. How do you like the Loon model? I have not used it much as I usually go for the lighter colors but have heard decent things about the black/white on the Loon.
I will check out the channel for sure!

@@HaightsWanderings I've had very good luck with the loon edition my son bought me one last summer and I loved it ( or should I say the bass& pike loved it) I've always loved the loon especially when I would sit out on chicaugon lake in the foggy morning listening to them to see it in a fishing lure and see it's effective is awesome you'll love it !!

I bought a BUNCH of these things on clearance. I better catch something with them. I do feel that the propaganda videos, err marketing, made them seem like the ultimate fish lure so we'll see. I'm thinking ripping the lure on top will be a better way to get them to bite then a straight retrieve.

@Bob gill I think the whopper ploppers excel in moving water and start to trail off in slower water. So, try them in a river and see what happens!
