I would literally NEVER allow my toddler to be in the same room as a moving treadmill unless someone was holding the toddler. Extremely dangerous I really hope Peloton isn’t being blamed in any way for this. Parental judgement error 100%.
its also got to do with bad product design. Just extend the rear and close off the read end and bottom of the Peleton and this would have been solved I suppose. Basically just having the belt visible on the part where you actually run
I agree with you. I can understand the need/desire to continue your workout routine especially when the pandemic caused the gyms to be closed for a long time. However, During the time that your child is awake you should not be doing any kind of workout. I have a exercise bike and a little great-nephew who just recently discovered two legs can get him to higher reaches then crawling. When I am watching him even during overnight/s stay I don't even go near my bike unless he is napping on the couch (And I can see him when he wakes) or in bed for the night. I mean seriously people your exercise equipment isn't going to suddenly pull a Houdini if you wait until your kid is asleep or someone else is watching them. There are other safe ways to exercise without the use of large equipment. Some you can even make a game for you and your forever curious little one to do like dancing silly to some random song.
@@lowlowsandclothes9923 yep and take the kid and dog with you right? The dog would love the walk and the walk would wear the kid out enough for a nap for you to then play on your treadmill.
Parents need to be parents and be responsible for their children!!! Stop blaming others. What are you doing with a treadmill facing the window and you have your back to your child? Keep children away from running machines, stoves, electric outlets, etc. Take accountability as a parent.
-I'm assuming that kid came through that half door and pushed the ball out of the way, unintentionally leading it to get stuck under the treadmill.- As for it being close to the window. Who doesn't want to be running on a treadmill, and also look outside. -Now yes, do I think the door should have been locked? Yes- Actually the more that I think about it, the kid could have been in the room the whole time. This mom could've been the only one at home, or a single mom. Going back to what I said. The kid definitely should have been contained, and safety hazards, such as the exercise ball, dog, and kid moved clear from the treadmill.
She's a good wealthy parent. Did you see that finished basement and the fireplace in the bedroom. Plus, that's a $4295 Peloton treadmill she was running on. @@jareds-tits Yup - a moving belt machine like that is inherently dangerous. That's why you probably shouldn't leave unattended toddlers around one that's plugged in and ready to go or actively being used. Maybe I'm just insensitive......but I do not see at all how this is peloton's fault. You're running on a treadmill towards the wall with your back towards your child. You put a tread mill, a heavy piece of motorized exercise equipment intended for adults, in a play room with a toddler. You have to be careful, just like being careful driving a car, or using an iron, or the stovetop/oven, or a lawnmower, or a mixer............all things that can be obviously very dangerous if you are not careful. These incidents are entirely the responsibility of the parents in my opinion. Still tragic nonetheless, but Peloton doesn't advertise the treadmill or bike as products intended for kids to mess with.

That’s just a really bad design- at least in the case of the yoga ball. Also, with that design- it seems unwise to have the back of it against a walkway. If it wasn’t the ball, it would have been the baby.
Right?! They have an emergency stop clip for these treads. So maybe when you’re done with it take the key with you! Like every other treadmill on the market.
It's obvious that the thing isn't set up right. The back end is bouncing around on its own. There should be struts to hold it in place. Not to mention the exercise ball directly behind the treadmill. Also the fact that you put play toys in the same area as machinery and equipment. As tragic as this is it isn't manufacturing error, it's user error.
Terrible thing to have happened but why is it all on pelatonia? If the parent was parenting the child wouldn't have gotten injured. They need to be accountable as well, as terrible as it is.
it literally killed a kid who got trapped underneath it. They could literally block the back side so a child would not get murdered by the machine if they were to accidentally get eaten by it

People used to be smarter. When I was a kid safety features did not exist. You could remove the top of a running blender and grind your hands off. Nobody did that. Our heating devices had exposed heat stripes that could instantly give you 3rd degree burns and no kids touched that, other than the “mensa” members. People used to have common sense.
In my opinion, it comes down to the parents taking care of their kids and pets!! It Would not happen if you are WATCHING THEM!!! Also, if you can’t watch them, then close the damn door where you have the machine. Plain and simple. The lack of common sense is just mind blowing.
@Disguised Dv8ant Well, obviously I said “ parents” because are women they only ones using these machines? No. Men use it too so I wasn’t just talking just about this case, I was saying it in general.
My treadmill (not a Peloton) is in the basement next to my kids’ play area. I was always scared of them getting caught in it since they like to keep me conpany while exercising so what I did was, I put a baby gate around the entire treadmill. No accidents ever happened and now at 8 and 5, they even tried using it themselves.
22,500 treadmill related injuries. Seems to be risk with treadmills in general. Put back of treadmill against wall, or put long platform extending away from roller that's attached to treadmill.
That can be dangerous too. A friend of mine had her treadmill against the wall and she tripped while running. It was going so fast it wedged her between the belt and the wall and she got a terrible burn on her thigh from the mat rubbing away her skin. Thankfully her husband heard and unplugged the machine. But ouch! Good reminder to 1) unplug when not in use and 2) wear the safety stop thing whenever in use.
We have that setup at my parents house and in middle school one of those workout balls got sucked under the same way. Also launched my buddy head-first into the wall which was actually hilarious. Not so hilarious when my parents found the hole in the wall from his head. But yes this is a treadmill issue not a specific brand's problem.
Except most treadmill injuries are from people falling off. The issue with Peloton that experts are seeing is things (pets, kids, items) being sucked in that is NOT common in other treadmills. Why is it that we haven't heard of children/pets being sucked it frequently before? Because it is extremely rare. Peloton's product is the only one where being sucked in is an actual issue and has happened at a higher rate than other treadmills.
They could also make the product not a death trap? That could be cool. Also, tell me you've never been the parent of a toddler without telling me you've never been the parent of a toddler.

@@makeitso4793 It's more that Peloton shouldn't be to blame, than humans don't make mistakes, because we all do. Treadmills are dangerous pieces of equipment that should be nowhere near toddlers and you children. Things happen, I agree, but when they do, they shouldn't instantly blame the company rather than their own mistake/negligence.
All of these Peloton videos are the same, the owner lets it be missused and then says that the equipment is unsafe. It's like letting five-year-olds drive cars and then coming down on Ford because they wreck.
Where was the parent ? This equipment, like all treadmills has safety features to prevent this kind of thing from happening. Read the manual !! Assume responsibility for your your own inaction !!
Well I'm sure the parents know how easily it could've been prevented now, but I'm sure they feel bad, but suing the manufacturer is pointless. If that makes sense then I'm suing Home depot for stepping on a nail at home.
Imagine a world, where people made better decisions about leaving something potentially dangerous out and plugged in where your kids can get ahold of it and hurt themselves. Imagine a world, where parents actually paid attention to their kids instead of video recording them and calling it "supervision". We can't have that because people prefer a nanny state.
Why are kids playing on that treadmill without any adult supervision? Better yet, how is that not made so they can't just turn it on and play with mommy and daddy's four thousand dollar equipment?
For safety purposes home workout equipment should ALWAYS be setup with the back of the unit facing a wall. THIS IS NOT AN OPTION. That prevents anything from coming in contact with the running tread from the back and provides the user a clear view of the exercise room. Most treadmills are designed with the electronics and motor in the front of the unit shielding the running tread. Peloton treadmills allow the front and back of the running tread to be exposed exposed. The solution is easy for Peloton to design a cover for the front and back that prevents the running tread from being exposed.
You hate to see something like this happen to a child but these parents are as much to blame as anyone and more. They just assume everything will be ok, instead of taking the proper precautions.

100% true. No shortage of fail videos where stuff gets pulled under various treadmills. Like most exercise equipment, this should be in its own locked room. The ignorance lies in letting children play around this stuff. I have the bike and it's off limits to the kids. I ride when they are in their rooms for the night. As an additional measure, I pulled the hand levers off and replaced them with capped bolts after they had loosened them. I've heard of kids getting hurt riding fast and slipping off the pedals, and the weighted flywheels is going to keep moving the crank and ruin your day.
Obvious gross negligence on adult's part causing death of a child. Where's the personal responsibility and accountability? Not manufacturer's fault when user is stupid and did not read the manual. Charge the parent for negligent homicide.
Why are they singling out this product? It has the same safety features as a normal treadmill and is probably just as dangerous. It might do more damage but has a safety magnet key. It isn't like they didn't pass inspection or ignore safety. At some point it is on the user not following safe practices. Like why does the lady in this video have the threadmill facing the wrong direction? Turn it around FFS! People fucking die using lifting and weights all the time but there isn't a focus on those being dangerous. It is obvious. Common sense is not common apparently.
Many treadmills I've seen have a belt that slips into a slot before it reaches the underside keeping the reversed movement of the contact surface shielded from coming in contact with objects. Those can't suck stuff under them like that exercise ball. It doesn't dismiss that a slight flaw in a design shouldn't have resulted in the parent of the 6yr old that died not watching their kid. They should be charged with reckless endangerment and negligent homicide. Instead they will probably get a out of court settlement for a wrongful death lawsuit. We are regressing as a species. The decline has been sharp in the last 2 generations. Nanny state government policies and liberal bombardment from media outlets capitalizing on kneejerk emotional responses is only furthering the constant cop out of victimization. This reinforces that laziness, dismisses responsibility, and allows for constant excuses leading to a complete lack of accountability. I recently read a statement made by a defendant that shot 5 people at a party because they didn't agree with him and started arguing. He went on an on about how they got him angry to the point he had no choice but to start shooting because "they knew I ain't to be tested or disrespected". He never once admitted that what he did was wrong. There was no self-defence claim. He fully just expected the jury to accept his untouchable greatness and apparent percieved immunity to murder charges once he was disrespected. Never did he acknowledge that people have thousands of disagreements and even arguments every day that are resolved without violence. Accountability and responsibility have been getting whittled away for a couple decades and replaced by entitlement and narcissism.
We've ben seeing treadmill accidents and injuries for decades. There should be safety features for this type of incident but in this case the blame falls on the parents for allowing their small children to play with a treadmill unsupervised.
All the ones I've used have these clips that you put on your shirt or something so if you fall, it auto shuts off. I guess these people are overriding the safety feature.
Mine has a red tab held on by a magnet that you pull and it shuts down like most. Bout all you can do. The best safety is just a play pen or the child out of the room.
A simple solution. A red safety bar on the bottom back end when triggered by anything stops the treadmill. A ball, hand, falling off it whatever. A three pound trigger bar. Not an engineer but seems simple enough.
A friend of mine about 14 years ago stopped by with her child she was 10 I believe, I was showing her my new proform treadmill and how it works. At first her daughter was sitting down and then while we were both standing by the treadmill talking. We didn’t notice that she walked around and tried to get on the treadmill, she went flying into the terrace door. Luckily she wasn’t hurt, she even started laughing a bit. I stood their with my mouth open frozen because if something would have happened, of course I would have felt responsible This is why I don’t like for kids to be in my house because, children are curious and parent have to teach and tell their kids not to touch things. They think things are okay things like at the jungle gym or something. They don’t know the danger of fitness equipment. Everybody knows the way to properly get on the treadmill and start walking. She did not do that, the machine was still powered on and the belt was running and she stepped one foot on it and went flying into the door. When kids see adults doing things they think they can do. They think oh that looks like fun and it’s not. I’m sorry that this happened but this could have been prevented and a child should not be in he room with dangerous equipment. Another time a friend of mine stopped but unannounced, she decide pad to surprise me, got past my doorman, he let her up without calling me and she had a two year old and a 5 year old. Anybody who has children knows, I don’t but they know. Her children though my house was a playground nice again. Her son was touching all my things. I was pissed off. He picked up my free weights. And he could have hurt himself. I was not prepared to have kids in my house as I had no idea she was on her way to see me. She kept putting things out of reach rearranging my whole place and I tried to get them to sit down and they kept touching everything. Finally I couldn’t take it and I got dressed and we went out. I had no intentions of even going out and I was pissed off that he was touching my Mac, he lifted up my printer and started bouncing on the flat bed. I mean it sounds funny but I was pissed off. They lived in a small 2 bedroom place and when they were in my loft it was huge and they wanted to run around and he took off his clothes. Let on his diaper and started rolling around on my carpet. Had I know she was on her way, I would have been dressed and ready to go. I know how curious kids are. It’s like when people bring their kids to my place, they act like I’m supposed to child proof my place and redecorate just because they came over. It’s unfair to brings kids to someone’s place without them knowing especially if you have expensive items. They have to be taught how to behave when out. They expect you to be understanding but the items that were broken, I had to replace them. I’ve since relocated and I don’t have to worry about people bringing their kids over and the kids have grown up.
i feel like anyone should be aware of a child and not let that happen for them to get on a treadmill but i also grew up with little siblings so i don’t know. but at least you know kids aren’t your thing so you don’t have them over. i hope that person is not still your friends because they should let you know beforehand and ask if it’s okay to bring their children. children can easily be raised to respect others home and belongings with gentle parenting. their mother is at fault, it’s really not the kids fault. kids don’t think like adults do, they don’t really think in general they just do because they are new to the world and so curious like you say. their brains aren’t fully developed and they don’t realize the danger or consequences of things. when i am older i will never allow friends with kids to disrespect me like that. she was being disrespectful and i don’t know why you didn’t tell her and put her in her place for that. she would be quickly uninvited if it were me. even if she’s apologizing and telling her kids to stop and they aren’t listening, it’s time for you to go. i don’t know why she thought it was okay to surprise you with her kids like that. shame on her. what if the kids got to something in your house before she could stop it because she doesn’t know what’s out. anything could have happened too. irresponsible lazy parenting. people shouldn’t have kids if they aren’t going to put the work in.
I get what you’re saying, but I also find it amusing that the most grinchy comment ever comes from someone whose username is ‘Life is beautiful’ haha My sister’s kids are constantly running around and my place gets rearranged as a result. I don’t mind if the parents are trying to teach their child respect and help clean up (which my sister does, happily) - to me, it just demonstrates that the parent is aware of the impacts and are trying to mitigate them.
But the one in the video was tilted upward and then leaned forward when she put her weight at the front end, leaving a huge space under the machine at the other end that trapped the black ball underneath when she shifted her weight and it leaned back again. The danger is the initial tilting of the machine where a child can get trapped underneath even after it stops (and apparently children have been trapped and crushed in other accidents). All that said, the mother in this video is being negligent in focusing straight ahead on the machine, not even knowing where her toddler is as he walks around behind her. (She also seems to not have been wearing the safety leash attached to the magnet as some people do to get around the annoyance.) Doesn't take a genius to know the child might accidentally make contact with the machine while she's ignoring him.
@@MsDrSantana it didn't tilt forward with her weight! It lifted at the rear as the ball was dragged in by the belt. The problem here is that the rear of the treadmill is exposed. Anything touching that belt is going under! Pets and children and black balls alike.
Tragic that a child has died and others have been injured, but these are not toys and parents need to remove the key and unplug when not in use. You wouldn't leave a blender plugged in where your child could play with it. I watched one video where a one child is on the treadmill while is the other is stuffing a large ball under the treadmill and gets sucked under. That is the parents fault for not removing the key and unplugging, and not supervising the children and/or allowing them to play with it.
I've seen the other video of a child being sucked under the Peloton treadmill but all this comes down to no supervision... I don't think it's fair to blame these accidents on Peloton when it can happen with so many other objects and unsupervised children combined.
I keep my Peloton right next to my table saw, which faces my gun safe. They're both sizeable and crowds the room, which explains why my machete collection leans against the corner. BUT, my kids aren't allowed there. The most curious baby never even got a paper cut under our parentage. They're all in college now. Yours?
22,500 treadmill related injuries in 2019. Peloton is aware of 39 injuries related to the Tread+. CPSC wants Peloton to recall the Tread+. In a nutshell, CPSC wants Peloton to recall its Tread+ when it is at .17% of the treadmill related injuries. What company/companies make up the other 22,461 injuries? Why are we hearing about this now? Why haven't the CPSC just put out a blanket recall on all treadmills from all companies? My guess is the "love/hate" relationship of the Peloton brand. Or maybe it is because of that Christmas commercial back in 2019?
No, we don't. From what I can tell, they forwent some basic safety measures. My treadmill, for example, has a bar underneath that I would expect would help separate anything caught by the tread from the tread and that could help prevent that thing (or person, animal, etc.) from being pulled all the way under. (I'm an engineer, so I have a mediocre understanding of physics.) From this video, I see no such bar on the Peloton. And, in this day and age, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to install sensors that would be able to detect if the back of the treadmill were lifted off the floor and act as a kill switch. That might not work for a child being pulled under, but I do not understand why there couldn't be a kill switch for the example in the video of that yoga ball being pulled under.
@@TheMidwestAtheist No - don't get it twisted - it is definitely as simple as poor parenting. It is simple - don't allow your kids or pets near the machine. It can be so easily solved , I don’t know why Peloton doesn’t solve it and they pretend it’s not their fault . Put a protection guard , software updates ,sensors , etc
Yes, Of course it could be easily solved. Let’s start by watching your kids, pets, read instructions, place the machine somewhere safe. That’s all it need to be done. It is not the company’s fault, like at all.
Very Poor Design. My 25 year old treadmill has guards in back and underneath that prevent this from ever happening. Shame on Peloton! Should be recalled ASAP.
How the heck did it tip forward first? That is the only potential design flaw but exercise equipment should be well away from kids and definitely don’t use it with a toddler moping around. I have a separate room with a locking door with a key code so my kids can’t ever get near gym equipment. If you don’t have that luxury of space set up a toddler fence around your treadmill. Jeezus it’s a piece of heavy equipment
It tipped forward because a large rubber ball was being sucked underneath the belt. There is no guard covering the back of the belt to prevent things from getting pulled under the belt because such a belt guard would probably cause more injuries by people's feet getting caught in it while jogging.
@@LincolnRon yah I see that good catch. Well I don’t think other treadmills are immune to this risk mine definitely doesn’t have a guard there and I don’t plan on testing to see what could happen. This seems more like idiots that don’t know how to safely use a treadmill vs design flaws
@@DP-eo5xd The only difference I see between the treadmill in the video and most other treadmills is that the belt is not recessed. My guess is other treadmills are also susceptible to pulling things under them.
If you think about it every EVERY single company EVER can be sued for being dangerous someone can die from anything someone can die in any way possible
Should have a safety cut off sensor/ alarm built into them considering cost if these things, which detects any movement underneath the treadmill resulting in the treadmill switching off with an audible sound to alert the owner.
@GreensBeans PotatoesTomatoes so you arent a parent i take it? People who think they can 24-7 monitor a child are delusional or helicopter parenting...
@GreensBeans PotatoesTomatoes OK Boomer, you have children, but peloton are recalling their treadmills and their stocks fell 14% so... "“The repair will not be available for US consumers until the CPSC has approved Peloton’s proposed repair.”" FYI, Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Unsafe design being addressed, your comments are useless and display your lack of design experience, go whine in another youtube video.
You don't need an engineering degree to know that a very simple, inexpensive safety sensor could prevent this type of thing from happening. For example, if a sensor(s) detects the rear deck lifting up, it simply shuts the machine off. Better still would be a belt guard/sensor(s) combination. Car windows and garage doors have similar safe guards. They are probably legislated and soon this likely will be as well. Even a simple pressure activated on/off switch under the back could help too. If the back lifts up even 1/4" and loses contact with the floor, the switch instantly turns off the motor. Optionally, two small, but strong anchor points on the rear side of the machine could attach to anchor the unit to the floor. The solutions are extremely simple. It always comes down to $. The problem is any solution would add to the manufacturing costs so unless it becomes law, it likely won't ever be implemented. Also, by implementing solutions, the company would be in part admitting negligence so again, it won't likely happen. Hopefully new models will learn from this and adopt safer systems.
With the machine over 4,000$ ➕ a monthly program cost... You think the company would already have saftey devices in place on 4000$ machine. They cant even secure saftey of it not being hacked. As a exersize bike was denied from white house when Biden moved in. Due to it was to high of risk of it being hacked... So i wonder were this companies money is truley going. Their makeing one large profit i bet
So true. Another fix would be a fence or cage mechanism at the tail of the treadmill that prevents objects from entering the space between the tail and the floor.
@@Actualhumanlive Yes- something is better than nothing. I like the idea of sensors that shut it down instantly. Bumpers and guards would need to be carefully designed or they can pose their own risks. what is a dog puts his paw in between the guard and the fast moving belt- it would be instantly gone. The fence might work but again it would have to be a good design. Even an audible alert if anything/anyone got too close. Signs to warn how exercise balls pose a significant hazard, etc. Maybe a string like fence perimeter that if tripped, shuts the machine down before anything gets within 3 feet of it.

Or maybe don’t put exercise equipment with *moving motors* in a child’s room? The last place I’d put any treadmill is a room where my kid can wonder around it. Yes they can add more safety but really most treadmills are like this anyways so it comes down to common sense.
And what happens if a runner falls or overextends and catches the plastic? Foot or clothes get pulled between belt and this supposed guard. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I've never seen a treadmill with a guard yet and I think it's more for the safety of the user than a bystander. No amount of protection is enough without common sense like maybe not having your toddler roam around exercise equipment - weights, trampoline and a treadmill in motion with a rolling exercise ball that got trapped under the belt.
For the love of god, don’t exercise with children and pets just walking around the equipment while your back is turned. She should have the peleton facing the room so she can keep an eye out, and preferably have some kind of fence/barrier around the treadmill
The moving tread in safe designs is enclosed at the front of the machine and at the back of the machine, as well as having a protective metal plate under the machine. Done this way, nothing can get pulled under the device, other than very small things. All treadmills are powerful devices and have some potential to be dangerous, but the good treadmills have safety keys and cannot be left running unattended. The safety key is attached to a lanyard and is clipped to the user's clothes. If the user falls, the safety key is pulled out of the slot, and the treadmill stops. The Peloton device has no protection for the moving belt, and this is what makes it so dangerous. It costs more to do it correctly and safely, so the way Peloton did it was solely to lower manufacturing costs. It's not a cheap treadmill for the buyer to purchase, but it's a dangerous device. The proof is exhibited by Peloton eventually recalling all the devices. It's dangerously bad engineering with little concern for consumer safety. It's a stupid and dangerous device.
Doesn’t all other treadmills have a guard at the end? Our treadmill has a guard that prevents stuff like this to happen. This things are dangerous. This is what cutting corner looks like.
Bruh, when you're using any kind of gym equipments, don't let your children get near it. Isn't that's also the reason why children can't enter the gym?
I would literally NEVER allow my toddler to be in the same room as a moving treadmill unless someone was holding the toddler. Extremely dangerous I really hope Peloton isn’t being blamed in any way for this. Parental judgement error 100%.
After all their insider trading I hoe that company burns go the ground
its also got to do with bad product design.

As for it being close to the window. Who doesn't want to be running on a treadmill, and also look outside.

Actually the more that I think about it, the kid could have been in the room the whole time. This mom could've been the only one at home, or a single mom.
Going back to what I said. The kid definitely should have been contained, and safety hazards, such as the exercise ball, dog, and kid moved clear from the treadmill.

Except most treadmill injuries are from people falling off. The issue with Peloton that experts are seeing is things (pets, kids, items) being sucked in that is NOT common in other treadmills. Why is it that we haven't heard of children/pets being sucked it frequently before? Because it is extremely rare.

Because the concept of "personal responsibility" is too inconvenient for some people, I guess.

I get what you’re saying, but I also find it amusing that the most grinchy comment ever comes from someone whose username is ‘Life is beautiful’ haha
My sister’s kids are constantly running around and my place gets rearranged as a result. I don’t mind if the parents are trying to teach their child respect and help clean up (which my sister does, happily) - to me, it just demonstrates that the parent is aware of the impacts and are trying to mitigate them.
Lol yeh it could have been avoided if you turned off your treadmill while you were preoccupied chatting to the parent 😅
That's not some kid but HER kid. She can't just put the kid outside and disinvite him to the house.
My 8 year old treadmill has a safety leash with a magnet. The treadmill stops when it pops out so the treadmill can't run on its own.
The Peloton tread has that as well
Yeah, you have kids, you hide that key.
There was a person on the treadmill so that wouldn’t have prevented this particular incident..
It takes just one child to die from a peloton and regulators jump to action, but sandy hook wasn’t enough?
Should they close the school? What should they do smart guy?

2. Man I really feel bad for children who died with treadmills
Where do the links take you?
A 5-year-old died due to a treadmill incident.
Don't be they were stupid enough to be near it in the first place
Children can get hurt by a knife, a bike, a car, or anything that parents let them play with.
Really don't understand why they are recalling. Wouldn't this same thing happen to any treadmill that open backed?
"They are investigating"
They left a running tradmill in a kids room and never said anything about it injuring them
Tragic that a child has died and others have been injured, but these are not toys and parents need to remove the key and unplug when not in use.
So, it’s going to cost the company 165 million dollars in sales because someone is an idiot? Keep your kids AWAY from exercise equipment! Period!
I keep my Peloton right next to my table saw, which faces my gun safe. They're both sizeable and crowds the room, which explains why my machete collection leans against the corner. BUT, my kids aren't allowed there. The most curious baby never even got a paper cut under our parentage. They're all in college now. Yours?
Some people should not breed. Period!
Americans: Personal Responsibility? What's that?
This is not the video you are looking for.
Actually, I looked up the story to find out abt this more.
Ikr, I was looking for the video of the kid dying
@@markus7166 jeez dude
It really is not the company’s fault and we all know that.
It literally says this in the manual for stupid people like this lady and it still happened lol. And there already is a "kill switch" (Peloton calls it a safety key) like many treadmills.
What I don’t understand is how can the mom be on that treadmill knowing her kid is walking around in the back 🤔 🤦🏻♀️👎🏼 I blame parents. Parents like this 😡... no common sense 🤷🏻♀️ but quick to sue when there’s an accident.
Kid: gets into mischief.
Peleton: "Ignore that! Stay with me Peleton!"
Oh geez, I heard it in the Peleton instructor voice too. 😒
What about parents leaving their child inside a hot car and died? Let's blame the car companies and sued them.
Americans is so entitled.
The mother wasn't watching her child, plain and simple.
Smarter move would have been to flip the treadmill around so the back is close to the wall. She could also see the toddler playing.
But then what if it flips back and flings her into the window and/or jams her up under the treadmill? Bad situation either way.
@Dave Aue yes 🙌🏻
4300 bucks... so only rich children die
They could’ve closed the door to the room, the kids didn’t need to go in there, I’d say it’s the parents fault
I never really liked staying in one place while running or walking.
I always figured if you wanted to walk and run you go and actually do it. If I wanted to stay in place I'd just sit down and enjoy it
Me either. Boring as hell. Give me outside and nature any day
@@maureenmetcalfe8558 For me it's the opposite.
Jogging in winter time is not it and nature access is a luxury to many (involves having a car to drive there)
Very Poor Design.
If you think about it every EVERY single company EVER can be sued for being dangerous
someone can die from anything
someone can die in any way possible
Should have a safety cut off sensor/ alarm built into them considering cost if these things, which detects any movement underneath the treadmill resulting in the treadmill switching off with an audible sound to alert the owner.
... or a physical bracket to prevent the possibility at all.
Yes, like a motion sensor detector that shuts off the machine automatic.. This machine is ridiculous expensive with a very low safety equipment.
@Dave Aue exactly!!! Dumb ass parents!
"Foley said the company would work with the CPSC to “to set new industry safety standards for treadmills”."
"“The repair will not be available for US consumers until the CPSC has approved Peloton’s proposed repair.”"

NEVER let your babies out of your sight.
This is the parents fault, not peloton.
Well said 🔥 Safety first. Children will mimic their parents.
Clickbait the child doesn't die in the video.
Why not a simple bumper or guard
@@Actualhumanlive Yes- something is better than nothing. I like the idea of sensors that shut it down instantly. Bumpers and guards would need to be carefully designed or they can pose their own risks. what is a dog puts his paw in between the guard and the fast moving belt- it would be instantly gone. The fence might work but again it would have to be a good design. Even an audible alert if anything/anyone got too close. Signs to warn how exercise balls pose a significant hazard, etc. Maybe a string like fence perimeter that if tripped, shuts the machine down before anything gets within 3 feet of it.
Drills don’t have a safety lock on them. Should we add one to those too or how about this, have parents be more fucking responsible... just an idea.
😮 I am a year late to the Peloton issue. I cannot believe my eyes, the treadmill swallowed a yoga ball.
Peleton: "Feed me another idiot child"
Mom: "Whew, what a burn!!"
Peleton: "You just did that Peleton!"
All treadmills do that. That side of the treadmill should be up against a wall if you have kids.
Yeah I think people are just poorly placing the machine in there home.
I think your opinion shouldn't matter if you don't know the difference between there/they're/their.
HEY GENIUS, THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IS COMPLETELY MADE THE FU$& UP!!! NOBODY CARES BECAUSE WE KNOW WHAT HE MEANT. WOW YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE,COOL STORY TOM GIRL
Some people shouldn’t have kids period who dh would have an playroom in the same area with dangerous equipment around an child especially not supervising them smh
For $5,000 they could easily have put a guard at the edge of the track. Probably saved $2.00 per unit cutting corners on safety.
Or maybe don’t put exercise equipment with *moving motors* in a child’s room? The last place I’d put any treadmill is a room where my kid can wonder around it. Yes they can add more safety but really most treadmills are like this anyways so it comes down to common sense.
I just went and checked zero of the treadmills in our gym have covers or guards on the back end. It’s not common.
Nothing can protect against stupidity.
This is when “it’s all about it who you know” gets illustrated in our everyday lives.
Doesn’t all other treadmills have a guard at the end? Our treadmill has a guard that prevents stuff like this to happen. This things are dangerous. This is what cutting corner looks like.
Look up "Treadmill" and try to find one with a guard
Only Americans would be able to send nearly 23,000 people to the hospital by trying to work out
Bruh, when you're using any kind of gym equipments, don't let your children get near it. Isn't that's also the reason why children can't enter the gym?
