Hi guys! Hope you’re well. Many are starting to ask about the timing of our trip. This episode was filmed February 20-23, 2022. On such a long trip there’s just way to keep the episodes current without not showing areas we visit. We don’t exactly like watching folks that are months behind so we strive to not do that but for a 9,000 mile trip it’s going to happen. So yes, it was cold there when we visited. We did spend an afternoon in Las Cruces but did not film while we were there. We listen to Audible books while traveling and in the book we were listening to heading into Las Cruces was a treat for the ranchers so we wanted to see for ourselves. Great town. Also, we spent a lot of time there with Gary but as we tend to do we got totally immersed in catching up and talking about van life travels that we didn’t film much of that either. In this episode you will see that we had to carry Maggie. We thought she was tired but later we found out she actually had a few prickly thorns in her paw, so beginning that day we started checking her feet often and had no other issues with that during the trip. She got to where she would just stop and hold a paw up for us to check. Hope you enjoy this stop. It was an amazing place that we only got to barely scratch the surface of what’s around there… but since it was cold we decided to head on to Tucson where the sun was shining… next week. 😂 👍
You know on a road trip of that length something will be confused or left out, but does it really matter? No, it’s your trip, we’re all the tag-a-longs enjoying the fruits of your time. Thank you. Excellent episode!! It even had some Owen Stories. It was sweet that Owen carried Maggie and that you can tell what she's 'saying' when she's tired or wants you to look at her paw or Lynn's been gone long enough and she want's to go look for Mommy. I loved going on a walk with Lynn. That's how I go; stopping to look at all the plants and things. Thanks for sharing the beauty of our great land. Peace & Prayers.
This was one of my favorite places to go as a kid. We lived south in Chaparral N.M. We went there many times. Mom would fire up the grill and start cooking lunch. My dad us kids and our friends would all hike the pine loop trail. I still love N.M. but I live back in my home state of Mo. In the Ozarks. Thanks for sharing your trip with us and putting a smile on my face.

What a wonderful video! Really enjoyed the first song for your first hike - I think that was Owen’s voice? The words were beautiful and just fit perfectly. Sweet Maggie; when you said 3+ miles, that’s 6+ for a doggie - they’ve got 4 legs working in locomotion. You’re a good dog-Pappie Owen. Lynn’s solo hike was eye-popping; such gorgeous nature to look at and your words were very true Lynn - we all have to reflect once in a while on how we are truly blessed. One thing I know for sure - we are blessed that you take us along on your journeys - thank you! Safe travels and stay well.

Enjoyed going on that hike with you Lynn. I'm also enjoying your adventures out west. It's such a different landscape out there and as beautiful as your videos are I'm sure it's not capturing the full greatness of what you're seeing. We van trek our way out there in August and are really looking forward to it. Keep on keeping on.

In this episode you are farther East than I have ever been, not counting in airplanes. If you’re going to Tucson I hope that means you will be going to Organ Pipe National Monument. I was there in February and it is just so beautiful!

I think we pushed it with Maggie going on the hike. It’s always hard to tell when is to long for her. One day she will be fine and the next we’ll have to carry her.

It’s really hard to find a bad view in that county. Southwest sunsets are on par with those I’ve seen in Africa. My wife and I watched a blazing sky all the way from Santa Fe to Albuquerque. I heard that you soak the board in good whiskey. Maybe your recipe is better! 😂🤣 Thanks for a fun and lovely video and thanks Lynn for beautiful photos.

We need to look into a dog pack that way we would be able to take her on longer walks, we provably pushed it on this one. It’s just really hard not to take her because she wants to go so bad.

Really liked your video! What a great camp site & deal! Sorry about the winds. I live in San Jacinto, CA in a RV Park by a lake. Reflection Lake gets it's own weather system out of town. So much wind that the slide owning blow and flap making so much noise. 😳 Good info on the Wizard of OZ and on the hike reflection on our Blessings!

Sounds like you need one of those meat hammers with a flat side and pointy side. Ever consider those doggy boots for Maggy. Those rocky trails to you are boulder trails to a small critter...lol Beautiful camp spot!!
Another great video! I can totally understand why you extended your stay there, the views were amazing. Lynn, I loved the solo hike you took. The scenery was beautiful from the old hollow dead tree (love the character and beauty of old trees like that, they are still “giving”), the dessert vegetation and the mountain View’s. Poor Maggie, felt bad for her when I learned she had prickles in her feet. They were horrible for our Bailey when we were out there a few years ago. Stay safe and happy tails!

When in the Tuscan area, I highly recommend the restaurant called Karichimaka. Absolutely wonderful, authentic Mexican food! We were just there recently and are dying to go back. Also, you might enjoy the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, also in the Tuscan area.
We did go to the Desert Museum and loved it, it will be in an upcoming video. We will have to put Karichimaka on the list for next time, thanks for the suggestion.

I don’t think they still sell that particular camera. I do think there are probably a lot better ones out now that are wireless. We like having a backup camera and yes it did help a lot.

Yes, we used the same marinade. The marinade has: 1 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup pineapple juice, 1 tbl of garlic, 1 1/2 tsp sriracha, 2 tbl honey, 6 tbl oil. We use about a 1 1/2 of steak. Just remember to use a good cut of steak for a better meal. Thanks for watching.

We’ve tried doggy boots but Maggie hates them. We are thinking about a doggy backpack so if she can’t make it we can carry her a little easier.
Another great video! I can totally understand why you extended your stay there, the views were amazing. Lynn, I loved the solo hike you took. The scenery was beautiful from the old hollow dead tree (love the character and beauty of old trees like that, they are still “giving”), the dessert vegetation and the mountain View’s. Poor Maggie, felt bad for her when I learned she had prickles in her feet. They were horrible for our Bailey when we were out there a few years ago.

When in the Tuscan area, I highly recommend the restaurant called Karichimaka. Absolutely wonderful, authentic Mexican food! We were just there recently and are dying to go back. Also, you might enjoy the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, also in the Tuscan area.
We did go to the Desert Museum and loved it, it will be in an upcoming video. We will have to put Karichimaka on the list for next time, thanks for the suggestion.

I don’t think they still sell that particular camera. I do think there are probably a lot better ones out now that are wireless. We like having a backup camera and yes it did help a lot.

Yes, we used the same marinade. The marinade has: 1 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup pineapple juice, 1 tbl of garlic, 1 1/2 tsp sriracha, 2 tbl honey, 6 tbl oil. We use about a 1 1/2 of steak. Just remember to use a good cut of steak for a better meal. Thanks for watching.
