    Two minor details to add, make sure the threaded end of the eyebolts is no longer than necessary so that it cannot possibly intrude on the sliding bracket for the awning. Second, slip pieces of heat shrink over the cable before you start, and then shrink it down over the swedges and the cut end of the cable so you don't snag your clothes or hands on it. Looks good.

    Thanks for the awesome video, hubby has been saying for a couple of years that he is going to put one up for us. Well guess what? He said he is off to Bunnings tomorrow! He said to make sure I write down what I need as we watch it, I said later, let’s just watch it first and you put up the shopping list - AWESOME, THANK YOU!
    Looking forward to watching the new van video , and the best car, a cruiser!

    Great idea, I saw this on a van on a trip to Tassie a few years back, suggestion to add a zip tie through the turn buckle to the eye bolt to stop the chance of the turnbuckle coming loose with the wind buffeting, plus a safety for the open end hook, this clothes line is also good when you are transiting as you can use it without putting the awning out, keep up the good work

  • @jesselang2010
    @jesselang2010 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Awesome idea - will be doing this on our van one day! Only thing I would add to it would be a little piece of heat shrink around each swage just to protect fingers from bare cable ends.

    Nice! However, a simple measure up from the awning pivot to the open door frame would give you the clearance you require to get over the door. If this is lower than the axis of the awning by 100mm or more, then two (2) or more lines could be run/affixed 50mm apart!!!

    When aluminum and stainless steel are used in an assembly together, the electrons from the aluminum will begin to transfer into the stainless steel. This results in the aluminum weakening. This weakened aluminum causes it to deteriorate at a much faster rate. This can lead to an extended life of the stainless steel.
