    What I have also done is add another inline filter to the filler hose to stop any pollutants going in too the tanks from the tap

    There is no drinking water, that you could plug into to fill.
    You would have to have a filtered system to make it drinkable

    Suggest a water filler cap holder like car fuel filler has...

    Have you got a video comparing the external cladding options on caravans?

    Thanks very informative for a newby. Making a filler hose on the weekend 😂 Your thoughts on empty or full tanks when not using for a month or two or three? Hanging out till the end hoping you would touch on this. By the way your vids are great.

      There are some different opinions on whether to keep the tanks full, empty, or partially filled during storage. Jeb is happy keeping his partly filled, then flushing and re-filling the tanks before leaving. Others suggest keeping them full to discourage bacterial growth (less oxygen/air). Really a regular clean is most important for peace of mind.

    Looking at the Grey water tank, I still don't understand why a Grey Water bypass isn't standard on these. Like 90% of the time you aren't actually going to use your Grey Water tank anyway and its really not much extra plumbing to have one.

      I plan to install a bypass valve (redirect grey water away from grey water tank as required) myself but until then, I have simply disconnected the grey water inlet hose such that the water drains on the ground where permitted and most importantly, I use (minimal) eco-friendly fully biodegradable soaps and detergents for all cleaning/washing.

      I plan to have a bypass but also a exit flow adjustment.... so if someone that's slow to take water then will be able to slow it down

    question? If storing the van for a month or two, is it better to drain the freshwater tanks or leave them full? I have heard argument both ways but tend towards having them full in storage. Draining and refilling before travel?

    • @adelaiderv
      @adelaiderv  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Jeb will leave them mostly full in storage and drain/rinse/refill before travelling. But you're right, everyone is different and you should just do what works best for you.

    Ok, I’m new to all this but why all the emphasis on food grade hose. Surely everyone is running their drinking water through at least 1 (if not 2) triple action filters. Your food grade hose isn’t going to be food grade if it’s got internal mould build up because your hose is stored away with some residual water left in it after use.
    What have I missed

    once a year i put 10 steradent false teeth cleaner tablets in my tank, wait 10 mins, then run hot and cold taps until they just suds a bit, leave 24 hours, flush three times, tank and taps. great clean, scale remove and safe

      Wouldn't it be cheaper and stronger just to use chlorine or peroxide? I'm no expert, just a farmer.

      We don't unfortunately, if you're in Adelaide your best bet would be Hall Towbars.

    Just go to a beer brewing shop get the cleaner and steriliser. All no flush and even safe to drink!
    No chemicals like that you normal filter out... why added them to clean....

    Why would you want 2 x 95lt of drinking water, when your showering, toilet, or washing

    • @buildmotosykletist1987
      @buildmotosykletist1987 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What is your point? Maybe I missed something? A shower takes 4Lt per minute (absolute minimum, i use more) and 3 minute showers are either grubs or liars. Are you suggesting using grey water flushing or similar? Here on the farm we have a grey water system, it's a lot of work and not what the salesman sells. That said on a dry period we wouldn't be without it. Also the sediment and treatment would not fit a van???

    Thanks. Learn't a fair bit. One thing you did not tell us was where you empty the grey water tanks.
    I have been told ( after asking a lot of fellow caravaners ) is
    1 You open up the outlet slightly and let it trickle out on the road as you drive.
    2 When you arrive at the first town you come to stop on the side of the road and let it out into the gutter/drain.
    3 Pull over in a rest stop and let it out onto the grass or bushland.
    4 Dump points will allow you to empty your cassette as well as drain your grey water tank
    5 Wait until you stop at a caravan park and drain it there.
    I personally prefer option 4 if it is true, or option 5 if I can wait that long.
    My opinion is option 1 - hell no
    Option 2 - local residents may be a bit upset
    Option 3 - may as well dump it in a National Park where you are camped.
    Can you tell me what is the recommended option. Thanks

    • @adelaiderv
      @adelaiderv  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi John, Definitely option 4 or 5 mate. We don’t recommend draining it on the road or in the national parks as that is the idea of capturing it to take away from those areas. Thanks 👍

    I hope you don’t mind a little joke;
    “You get 25 minutes for your video”
    “But I only have 6 minutes of things to talk about…?”
    “Oh well, in that case, just say everything 4 times, in 4 different ways if you can”.
    And here is the result, Hahahaha!!!
