Just changed the oil on my Agility125.....super simple! Thanks for the instructional video! I had to buy some kitty litter as well.......spilled the old oil like a bone head.
No, I just use regular 15W-40. Some people will argue for synthetic, but I figure frequent changes are probably more important--especially considering that there's no oil filter.
@simple9rts Thanks! It's always nice to hear that these videos are helping people perform the routine maintenance themselves. And it's a good way to save a few bucks. You've bought a great scooter--enjoy it! Ride safely.
@TonyFirelli Yes. Since there isn't a real oil filter (just that screen) I figure it's better to change it often. Your owners manual should list the recommended interval for your bike.
Thanks for the feedback! Is the break in the cap, or the actual stick? If it were me, I would NOT glue the dipstick together. Even if it holds up to the temp, the movement of the oil or a bump in the road might break it loose. You do not want a loose piece of anything flying around in the engine! I would order order a replacement part. If it's a crack in the cap, gluing it might work...but I still would get a new one. Enjoy your bike!!
@gwapito1815 Hello. The oil you used should be fine. For the scooter, the engine oil is only used to lubricate the engine components. On most motorcycles, that oil also lubricates the transmission clutch, which is why you see special motorcycle oil (and why you shouldn't use car oil in a motorcycle). But for your scooter, the Castrol should be fine. Be sure to check your oil level to ensure it didn't leak out!
Hi. Thanks! I don't think it matters. I open both sides only because I don't know what it looks like inside. There could be a ridge in middle of the pan which would prevent *all* the oil from draining out if you only opened one side. But I don't know for sure--I do it just to be safe. Next time I'll try the screen first, let it drain, then open the drain bolt and see if there is anything left.
Hi! I'm sure it's fine. Worst case, there might be a little bit of old oil that doesn't drain out (it would depend on the shape of the case--if there was a low spot that only was drained from one side, you could have a bit of residual trapped there if you didn't open that side). Even if that's the case, it wouldn't be a big deal.
awesome vid! I have a super 8 50 in the same colours as yours. I've changed the oil like 3 days ago and I was concernd if I have puten the filter and spring in the right order, but now I'm sure. Tnx.
Good for you! And thanks for the compliment. I've been making these whenever my scooter needs work, so there should be more coming--probably a belt replacement if I ride enough this year. For now, there is also gear oil change, valve adjustment, and winterizing. Thanks!
Thanks! good video. I am not mechanically savvy but I feel with this tutorial Even I could master this. Also I now understand what I'm paying someone else to do. I like that.
Hi. In the weight recommended by the manual (I think it's 15-40?), my local auto store only carries Delo brand, so that's what I use. Personally, I don't think it matters much, especially if you are changing it every 1,000 miles. I have not done a video on the brake fluid change--usually I put these together as I do the work on my own scoot. I haven't had to change the brake fluid yet.
Hi, I lost the manual and I emailed Kymco to ask them what oil to use. They recommend 10w-50. Would that work for this scooter. I live in GA but I don't ride during the winter. I guess it won't hurt to get the oil faster into the engine when starting it up, but want to double check with and make sure. oh, and thanks for the video. it's awesome.
@adiv1313 Hi. I think you would be fine with 10w-40. My manual says 15w-40, which is what I've been using without any problems so far. I'm no expert, but these things run all over the world, sometimes on bad/dusty roads and other less-than-ideal conditions, and they are fine (because they're kymco :-). I'm guessing the exact oil weight isn't critical.
@CAPTBORG For the two stroke, I assume you are talking about the Super9? I don't think they make a two-stroke Super 8. Either way, I think you'd be happy with either. I hear a lot of good things about the Super 9--it's a pretty quick scoot. I'd try to ride each and see which you prefer.
Thank you so much mate, I watched your video and changed my oil myself saving some money as well, but most importantly, I feel super cool :) Not a mechanic, so mechanics, please don't laugh! :D
I need help! I have a 50cc Kymco cobra scooter and I'm confused about the engine oil. I've heard that you should mix gasoline with oil for 2 stroke engines, but I didn't see you do that. Will I potentially hurt my scooter if I only added oil? btw I need API-TC certified oil (I'm using QuickSilver Marine 2-stroke) Thanks
@nicholas33309 no moped goes 60mph without some modifications, atleast in europe. just google what things do you need for it. atleast better exhaust system and ALOT of other stuff
Hello! nd1996mn ^^ I just wanna ask, why you didn't directly drain the oil from the oil filter screen? instead you use the opposite bolt the drain bolt? is there anything wrong if you directly drain the oil from the oil filter screen?. Because that is how I did it every time i change oil.. Please lighten up my mind...Thanks ^^ Your videos are great! ..
Sir, Does "CASTROL POWER1 15w-40 (part synthetic)" is safe to use? I have my Kymco super 8 125cc and to be honest I used this oil. But I felt something bad while on the road. Please help me. I need your point of view and suggestions. Thanks
No. That is more than you need for these and would make them too tight and maybe damage it. Might be OK for loosening them only. I would recommend using a handheld wrench or ratchet instead of an impact driver.
@nd1996mn Hmm I did the numbers and I'm only gonna spend 600-725 miles per year! so that's good it should last for 6 years right? about 6,000 miles, well anyway I'm probably gonna get this Super8 50cc one and this video will really help me out! *like* 5/5...
Hey curious if anyone can answer this. I did my oil change on my super but do I fill the oil to full when the bike is on its scooter stand or when it has both wheels on the ground and is level. It seems to make a significant difference in the amount of oil on the dipstick.
I have been changing the oil on the plug side beneath instead of the bolt. Is there a reason to change it from the bolt side? Thanks for the tip now I know why the plug was wrecked because I didn't use a 6point socket :(
theres the anwer to my question.. I guess the only advantage in draining from the drain bolt first is you will make less of a mess..since the flow of oil will be harder to control draining out of the large hole of the screen cap..my first worry is that i may not have drained most of the oil..
Manuel Luis Catanduanes yes, it just might not get all the old oil out (I think the hole for the drain bolt sits slightly lower). Probably not enough to do any harm though.
Le Maître This one is a 4T. If you have an oil drain bolt and fill hole (with measuring stick) as shown in the video it should be a 4T. You do not change the oil on a 2T.
@nd1996mn Sir, Thank you very much. It helps me a lot. You answered not only my questions but also my worries. May God continue bless & keep you always. By the way I'm Allan from the Philippines.
Your videos are very easy to follow. Thanks for including detailed commentary
Thank you for the kind words! Glad you found them useful.

Thank you! Safe riding!

Very helpful video, thanks. How often do you change the oil?
How do I know on the dipstick the correct level of oil? I am beginning to do the oil change just need to be sure
There are marks on the dipstick. It should be between those. Some models do not have a dipstick so you may have to measure the oil before putting in.

Hi... Thanks for your posting
I wonder what's drain bolt torque ?.. Please let me know...
15 years 😮 bro you still live 😅

I did a oil change on my Agility 50 few hours ago. I was need to add 0,9liter of engine oil.
Thank you so much mate, I watched your video and changed my oil myself saving some money as well, but most importantly, I feel super cool :)
Not a mechanic, so mechanics, please don't laugh! :D
Thats great to hear. Cheers!
Hi sir, what brand of oil do you recommend for Kymco Super 8? Do you also have a demo video on how to change brake fluid on Kymco Super 8?
Can i drain the oil from underneath plug the one with the spring everytime i change oil.?
Lawrence Sand yes
ok thanks...
Great instruction; thanks!
Thank you!
SIR nd1996mn CAN YOU MAKE A VIDEO IN DISMANTLING THE HEAD OF THE KYMCO SUPER 8 INORDER TO CHANGE BRAKE FLUID.. TNX IN ADVANCE..
@nicholas33309 I was using Chevron Delo. I think it was 15W-40.
I need help! I have a 50cc Kymco cobra scooter and I'm confused about the engine oil. I've heard that you should mix gasoline with oil for 2 stroke engines, but I didn't see you do that. Those classic taco bell cups. Good times.
Sir,
Does "CASTROL POWER1 15w-40 (part synthetic)" is safe to use? I have my Kymco super 8 125cc and to be honest I used this oil. But I felt something bad while on the road. Please help me. I need your point of view and suggestions.

I have a problem either my scooter doesn't have a dip sticc or bj I just can't find it please help
Version without dipstick (I have the same) th-cam.com/video/90cU6tugyz4/w-d-xo.html
@nd1996mn actually they have made 2 years two stroke. I would take the two stroke
Hi, do you recommend cordless impact drill for the bolts?
No. That is more than you need for these and would make them too tight and maybe damage it. Might be OK for loosening them only. I would recommend using a handheld wrench or ratchet instead of an impact driver.
Nice, thanks so much.
@nd1996mn Hmm I did the numbers and I'm only gonna spend 600-725 miles per year! so that's good it should last for 6 years right? about 6,000 miles, well anyway I'm probably gonna get this Super8 50cc one and this video will really help me out! *like* 5/5...
Thnks but i want wht size oil i must but it .
I think the manual recommends 15w-40. I believe you only need about 1 quart
@nd1996mn So you have to do that every 1000 miles?
Hey curious if anyone can answer this. I did my oil change on my super but do I fill the oil to full when the bike is on its scooter stand or when it has both wheels on the ground and is level. It seems to make a significant difference in the amount of oil on the dipstick.
Check it when the bike is level. It's easiest to put it on the center stand to do this.
Perfect, i'll do that. Thanks man!
Nice vid man!
I cannot even remove the drain bolt on mine. It has been overtorqued to the point I cannot even budge it a mm.
I have been changing the oil on the plug side beneath instead of the bolt. Is there a reason to change it from the bolt side?
Thanks for the tip now I know why the plug was wrecked because I didn't use a 6point socket :(
It doesn't make much difference. It will drain from either.
nd1996mn
Ah I see. Thanks.
Cheers
theres the anwer to my question.. I guess the only advantage in draining from the drain bolt first is you will make less of a mess..since the flow of oil will be harder to control draining out of the large hole of the screen cap..my first worry is that i may not have drained most of the oil..
Is it ok to use a torque wrench on a warm crank case?
Adrian Rubi i think so. There isn’t much torque on the drain bolt and it’s usually cooled off by the time you are putting the plug back in.
is it okay to drain directly from the screen cap?
Manuel Luis Catanduanes yes, it just might not get all the old oil out (I think the hole for the drain bolt sits slightly lower). Probably not enough to do any harm though.
@BarrettBullet This isn't true sadly. For example my 125CC moped goes 60 mph steadily and nearing 65 at a push (Kymco Agility) 125cc.
Je fais comment pour savoir si le scooter est 4T ou 2t
Le Maître This one is a 4T. If you have an oil drain bolt and fill hole (with measuring stick) as shown in the video it should be a 4T. You do not change the oil on a 2T.
@nd1996mn Sir, Thank you very much. It helps me a lot. You answered not only my questions but also my worries. May God continue bless & keep you always. By the way I'm Allan from the Philippines.
what is the best type of oil?
I don't think it matters much if you are changing it frequently. All major brands that meet the latest certifications should be fine.
Synthetic.
@roconnor09 Hi! Thanks. I change it about every 1000 miles. It's only about a quart of oil so it only costs a few bucks to do it.
Thanks
thank you!!!
@adiv1313 .....sory I meant to say 10w-40 not 10w-50
same engine as sym thanks
Tight.
@adiv1313 .....sorry I meant to say 10w-40 not 10w-50
