why would you put a big block and 4 speed in the car? They are just a big undrivable boat anchor.
Would be cool to wire up LEDs for inside the bores and have them blink in the SBC firing order.

Miss those weekend mornings as a kid waking up and watching this instead of cartoons
I must have grew up in the right time zone bc I got to watch both
Lockon stratos must’ve been nice
@@@christopherhamilton4373 -- I'm now 35.
I remember both. NYC here btw.
On today's episode we show you how to strip down a car that would've been pretty easy to make road worthy and spend more money than most people can afford to on a project.
Rite bra. I be hating when they spend all that money like it's theirs.. we would do alot if we had a sponsor and get free parts
Right on
@@shawnrachal1631 easy solution brah...get your sponsors and free parts and stop crying. ;)
Didn’t say whether #s matched...
Should just put it back how it was w/minor upgrades
I got my hands on a 1971 Chevelle Malibu with Original 307cid and powerglide transmission. All original except for front seat and carpet. Once my son is old enough to understand what this car is. It will be going to him at that point. It does need restored in a show like this is what drives my passion for cars even more. Keep up the amazing work!!!
This is what I enjoy watching in a car show
bigmarkdarula / m to:)
I learn more here in 3 minutes then I did in auto shop in HS.
I sure miss my 72 chevelle which was a birthday gift from my mom it would mean a lot to me if I could build one for my self and dedicated to my mom who was killed in 2001 . So I will be watching this build to the end .
My neighbor had one of these but it was a convertible. They wanted 800 bucks for it. And it was in good shape but I didn't have the loot and the old lady just popped out a kid so there went my dreams! Lol!
Thanks for the memories, back in high school, I was cursing in my old '49 chevy 1/2 ton and my buddy Phil had his 72 Chevelle, Wow, memories. looking forward to the whole build!
Why were you cursing in your '49 Chevy half ton? 😅
@@cruisinginmy94 Just because I loved that old truck! Cheers!
There's NO school like OLD school! 🤘🏻✊🏻😎😉
That's a pretty cool table
I'm tearing down and rebuilding my 76 El Camino Classic and have plans to reupholster the bench seat and make it into a couch of sorts, that table would go great with it once I rebuild the engine
I wish your program had remained with the 1972 Chevelle. A few things about the 72. This is a good one. GM suffered from a strike that badly hurt paint quality for a while. My husbands parents traded a 65 Chevy II and got a Chevelle with no paint on the rocker panels. The dealer attempted to repair the paint but was not very successful. The 72 was a very pretty car unlike the 73 with the chunky foot bumpers. Occasionally a 350 V8 slipped through production that was a real screamer. I don't know how to explain this except the auto workers having some fun. Perhaps at the expense of GM. If so Government Motors deserved it! Since you moved away from the Chevelle to other things a word of warning, if you will take it. Build it to look like it came off the line in 72. You can make it as hot as the blazes but make it a true sleeper. That way it will surprise everyone who see it on the highway. We don't need another destroyed Chevelle! Just an opinion.
this show is many years old so this car is done. use link at top to go see the rest of the shows
You're a dummy
they left it mostly sleeper. added rally stripes and a cow hood. left column shifter and bench seat
@@redbug3485 sry to miss lead but its headers upper lower arms 406sbc procharger 1000hp
that coffee table turned out great .....i should build on for my mancave....
Trunk lock: pull the back seat and firmly attach something useful [like a basic flathead screwdriver] to a 3 foot stick [or whatever] so you can trip the mechanism. Reach through the brace openings and... all yours.
Nice Chevelle .. I paid $300 for a '73 in Michigan but it was very rusty .. I used it as a Winter beater for a few years then sold it to a friend who used it for a few more years.. I used it as a Ski bum on the Rocky Mountains..
Best way to open the trunk, remove the back seat and get a long flat head screw driver.
I agree. It’s sad how they destroyed the trunk lock. Like you said Stanley , reach through the inside with a long flathead something open trunk, remove lock from trunk , get a key made. Problem solved.
You may consider that car dirty but where I live, it's clean as the driven snow.
Can't wait for the build
Can't wait to see the Chevelle build completed
Maybe the "Righteous Gemstones" will do it! Looks real good!
600,000 CHEVELLES in 1972?!😳
Wow, thought it was lower.
❤️ my 72’ El Camino!
POSITIVE they didn’t crank out half a million😏
Nem sabia que existia o Malibu Antigamente! Bonitão demais.
I miss show's like Chip Foose's Overhaulin'. This is a fine replacement. I'm glad I subscribed to you guys!
Glad your building my dream car just bought one a few days ago I'm second owner with 20,000 miles and original title
You lucky bastard....I hate you 👍
right
I would love to see a realistic inexpensive build of this 1972 Chevelle while keeping it era correct for the year, I am so sick of watching people turn these hard to find survivor cars into unaffordable modern day resto mods that will end up in some rich bastards collection never driven or truly appreciated.
WOOOOW, FAAANTASTIC
I remember using a Wagner power painter to paint vw tins at a VW shop I worked at during the 80s
1st car was a 72 chevelle malibu. Great car!
Still nice good looking old car
Man i need get me a barn find
I purchased this car over the summer
I know a lot of kids my age don’t like these cars, I just turned 18 and I would love to restore a old pickup or muscle car! I don’t wanna pay for a restored one or have someone do it I wanna do it myself. I’d love a old muscle car or truck with a big block because they sound so mean!! My dream cars/truck is a 69 Mustang, 69 Chevy C10, or a 69 Camaro!
Now that's the ultimate mancave coffe table
My 70 Z28 I bought in 81 from the orig owner square key is for the ignition and doors and the round key is for the trunk and glove box.
yep the round key is known as a courtesy key
I have a California 1970 Pontiac Firebird. Only rust is the Roof. Had a vinyl top.
Not special to you but special to us
My dad had a 1960 chevy impala, the engine was a 283, the crud was thick, the engine bay was the same. I suggested he clean it. No son! If I clean it, things will start to rust, and problems will start happening! Okey Dokey! Your the Dad, I'm just the son. Lol
Very clean car
14:03 "where's Burt Reynolds?"
Me: "he's up in heaven 😢"
I know Burt Reynolds would love to drive that 2002 Trans Am
Those rear lights... Instant Driver 2 flashback ;(
Good game
YES
You guys are awesome
Purple Power is better than JunkGunk!!!
Hasn’t seen daylight in 30+ years, 2005 speakers in rear from Walmart🤣
You could have taken the glove box lid to a locksmith. They can cut a key that fits the trunk. Just another option.
Good thing that coating is easy to remove.
Y'all should track down a Laguna S3 and rebuild it Beast style.
I got one, exactly like that in 1980. 2 barrel carb....
outstanding!!!
Personally,if it was my car, I'd just drop in a engine and make safe and reliable.
It’s not a barn find because it was never lost
I would put a lsx 454 dressed up to look like a old school block.
Keep that old paint. Man that’s a nice car
Would be fun to paint your buddy’s car with the peel coat. Then show a few empty spray paint cans...
Please do a 4sp big block but with modern suspension
Any high pressure water would have blown the grease out the engine bay. I’ve done it before.
cool project
My wife saw this and she is dying to have an engine block in the living room.
When washing a car always work from the top down that way you wash the dirt off the car
Dry graphite in the key hole on the trunk lock. Your welcome.
Did you find this Chevelle without an engine?
Most people who've steam cleaned an engine would power wash it first then spray it with degreaser then wash it again!
I used to start my 71 with a fist gen honda cvic key.
Painted right over the side marker
“Even for a novice like me” no sir, you’re a rookie.
That's a real nice teenage DNA quilt.
A blank slate? How about leave it the F alone? Cars are only stock once.
I would go "Mid School" old school 70's street freak on the outside with 15"x10" mags in back, 15"x6" or 7" in the front with original interior and no pathetic digital gauges or ghetto 22" wheels on it and an LS6 drivetrain. That would be the only thing "New School" in it.
Were they really trying the square ignition key in the trunk? LOL.
Kevin Vance did you not watch and listen what they said?
The ignition key was round, the door/trunk, glovebox key was round. They weren’t kinda anything.
30yrs ago I bought that exact car from a Minister , He was asking $1500 I got it for $1300 . He also had a '56 triple white 'Vette he was asking $13.500 ! they were his late fathers cars ,
Do this, do that. This was filmed 5 years ago people...
The ARP bolts are worth more than the motor.
Isn't this the second barn find Chevelle? I could swear they did one a few years back.
Me too....It's same I THINK
I think that going to be Bastard SS chevelle 454 V8 everything Heavy duty pos real end with sway bar. Inside factory gauges
Dang, I really would have liked to see what they did with the Malibu.
It'd be neat if y'all put the original air date in the description... just saying...
best pre soak is diesel followed by dunk engine degreaser than water..
Drop an LS3 in that Chevelle. I’m curious about all the mods that need to be made for it to fit
Drop a 454 with a 400 transmission
Damn. I thought it was going to be the one about a mile frm me finally getting pulled out but nope. Different barn.
Needs to go NASCAR with it!!!!
You know what my car really needs? LEADERSHIP! Detroit hasn't felt any real pride since Bush went to Japan and vomited on their auto executives.
Nice 👍
Sticking an ignition key into the trunk lid lock? ;-)
Someone could have crawled into the trunk from the back seat and tripped the trunk latch!
Trunk keys have a round top not square. You had ignition keys...
72 Malibu, Detroit Muscle!? Lol, you mean Detroit wheezing 160 horsepower.....
On the finished table, what are the things centred on top of the pistons?
Something like this.
www.amazon.com/Lantee-Pieces-Stainless-Advertise-Standoff/dp/B0747J38R8/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?keywords=glass+top+bolts&qid=1571644920&sr=8-16
round is round square is square they won't fit in each others locks get a round key that is shaved like car thieves do
why didn't you disassemble it..... outside so in case any critters make a run!
Masih kinclong itu, cuk.. harta Karun.. mana orang indo..👍
72 was past the muscle car era but you two kids probably think 1972 is old
i wish i lived in USA so i can find these cars and work on them
Hahahaha they out there but hard to find
@@bilbobaggins4710 i no just soo much cheaper over there man like how much does a 2012 dodge charger go for over in the states her in Australia your looking at 120k in AUS but in USD thats 82k so yea cheaper over in usa
@@harleywalls6356 my friend is dealer...He just sold 2012 for $10K
@@harleywalls6356 but this is old school muscle car...You can't find easy that's what I meant to say to you...You didn't say modern one like 2012
@@bilbobaggins4710 i no but thats what im saying tho to do anything here in AUstralia sucks it cost way too much a 1968 dodge charger here in Australia is 200k AUS or 140k USD like how much are they there tho
I don’t want to pop anyone’s bubble, but it’s clear to me that this is a “manufactured” barn find. You can see the paint under the dirt is WAY too shiny to have been in a barn. Also, the lack of funk on the rims shows that it was clean recently.
How long before someone holds up a bank and has their car peel painted?
Nice find but I'd rather have the Chevy II the original owner traded in for it!
Hagerty you are not, but I'm sure if you guys were to go do your own thing and get away from your corporate masters, it would be good.
Factory AC car! Love Malibus and prefer a solid one over an SS
Lsx 454 build 👍
Next episode please!
As a fourth generation T/A owner myself, I cringed when they desecrated that car with that spray bullshit
Well I bet he wishes he would have kept that 66 Chevy 2 aka deuce it’s worth more than that Malibu for sure
