Isn’t the premium extended range 88kw battery not 91? 91 was for the Route 1 edition which I think had different motors also .

The issue with the software not recognizing/detecting that no charge has happened at the non-existent or inaccessible charging station and routing you to an unreachable destination is a serious flaw. It seems to be a classic oversight of the designers and developers of this software caused by incomplete understanding of the use case and its context. Please do the entire Mach-E family a favor and report this through Ford Pass. Less observant drivers than you could get themselves into serious trouble.

You can deactivate Gamesnacks (as well as several other apps) from Android auto preferences on your smartphone if you want.

Good road trip

I just got the update and it’s 2024.19.04, but being the quad motor I assume it got a different update. Overall it has been nice added features, I don’t really like the cartoonish look of the display but that’s just opinion. How are the fit and finish holding up? We have 11k miles and so far the front body panel next to the charging door is falling off 😂. A few things for the service team to work on this month but still love the car.

If you haven’t already, I would recommend buying the spare tire kit for long trips. Not sure why cars in this price range labeled an adventure vehicle don’t include tire, jack or lug wrench. I would also buy the lifting pucks, it makes life way easier.

I see you are driving using unbridled mode do find you get longer range using this mode on a road trip

This was overall a good video, but if I might recommend try saying um and uh a bit less and/or maybe edit the videos a bit to cut out a bit.

you can change the driver screen to kwh/hr by going into the charging app and pressing on the speed. You can toggle between miles/hr vs kw/hr .

On thing for comparison of the 2 forms of "stored energy"... 33kw = 1 gal/gas. Not sure of the Mach-E, but my 2019 M3 LR AWD takes appox. 54kw to go ~200 miles (228 rated -10%-ish), so depending on the buffer at the end 195-180 miles range. 54kw is equivalent to 1.6 gal/gas. That 0.64kw to charge is f'ing ridiculous!

I like the feature that allows you to turn off the Alexa voice commands. My kids were driving me crazy constantly giving commands. Our overall experience with the map has been okay, we still use PlugShare on long trips because there seem to be many missing on the Rivian map BUT you can use search function for the missing charging station and it shows up 🤷🏽‍♂️. The EV9 is a smaller vehicle, the third row in that one is not really usable - unless you have passengers with no legs. The only other close EV to the R1S is the Model X.

I am also in NH and reserved back in 2021, we picked up the quad motor R1S in December at the Chelsea SC. The torque is insane with about 3 second 0-60. I also tow so we kept the quad pack and 21” tires since we do go off-road a bit. Rivian told us to stay out of conserve mode with the quad motor unless necessary but did not elaborate. We stay in normal height and do not auto adjust or kneel ride height to keep wear down on the airbags/compressors. We were lucky as earlier reservation holders to get in for $77k. I hear that early reservation holders get discounts if they go with dual motors so hopefully you got that with yours since you reserved in 2020. We don’t have the issue with the rear seats folding so definitely put in a ticket to have that looked at. We had some panel issues with body line gaps and the SC has no issues fixing it.

I believe you have the front cup holder insert in backwards. Making the cup holders farther away from reach. Try flipping around.

Thanks for posting about the dual motors. Not much is shared about the Duals. Don't take offense, but my Goldilocks build is the Dual Large pack. A Dual Perf with the Standard or even Standard+ would be annoying for me due to my commute patterns. Everyone will have their ideal build and I'm glad Rivian gave us options. And before you think I haven't given this much thought, I'm debating buying my R1S finally as a pre-march preholder and this is my 6th EV. I've tried them all it seems like so no range anxiety here. The Rivian has a mediocre charging rate and it's a "gas guzzler" by comparison so I prefer to leave the house with a bigger reserve especially since I only like to use 20-80% of the pack on the daily.

The dual motors are really good. Oil cooled and less stall at zero rpm makes it really good off road. All purpose mode is fast but sport mode is seriously fast. The automatic conserve mode is pretty transparent. I have a forest green with 22 darks dual motor performance like yours. However i also have the max pack and make good use of it as it allows me to tow 225 miles with my trailer. The black line must be a new thing. Mine is an earlier one ordered off the shop before they sorted that idea. Congrats on the car. 300 mile range is optimal for most people's lives and range is less of an issue now with Tesla Superchargers everywhere.

I am in the "purchase process" for almost the exact same config selected from avail inventory for a '24: Green, 22" wheels but only the dual awd with Large pack.

I think in some states you’re allowed to drive in the carpool lane if you’re driving an ev.

From what i heard you should be able to charge it on a tesla supercharger. Im not sure how accurate this information is but i guess its always better to know that tesla got you covered.

Good informational video for any Mach-E drivers. Odd though, that just a precondition tab in the Ford Pass app is not just there. But hey, you never know if an update could change that.

Thank you for an informative video. I am in the early stages of considering an EV, Mach-e AWD ER specifically. It looks from the video that you park and charge the car outside at home. At last report, New Hampshire can get pretty cold in the winter. Do you encounter any problems charging the car outside in the cold weather? I believe I've read that outside charging in the cold can be problematic in terms of charge rate and also battery loss of charge from the car being parked outside in the cold. I've looked at Ford's owner's manual online and as I recall it recommends parking the Mach-e inside or under cover from just above 32 Fahrenheit and below. That may suggest Ford defines cold as beginning at just above 32. Understood, there is cold and there is really cold. I would think NH can often be in the 'really cold' zone during the winter. I would appreciate your observations about cold weather outside charging and cold weather battery charge loss when simply parked. Thanks again and I look forward to more content from you.
