$20,000 for a TIFFANY collectible, that's design still holds up 100 years later, with a YELLOW diamond, nobody rocked colored diamonds back then! Collectors of Jewelry, Tiffany's, and art collectors would pay over $100,000 for this, if not more!
I have been collecting tiffany for awhile. I would 100% pay 50 to 60k. however, I wouldn't be able to pay more... mostly because I don't have more $$$ right now. Gotta love being broke.
aslomski I think all of these professional appraisers give them a very conservative estimate on the value of these antiques. That way, they release themselves from any liabilities.
@@dlighted8861 You are just a stupid unwashed moron. I bet you did not shave today, have dirt under your fingernails and hair sprouting out of your ears.
It's always exciting to learn a beloved piece of jewelry is very valuable, but in a way it's almost better to not know....I would be afraid to wear a necklace or ring or bracelet that brought me so much pleasure in the past for the fear of damaging or losing the piece.
Grandma must have been a beautiful soul, THIS was given to her by her second husband, around 1918ish. They had a serious love going on, keeping a sparkle to the eyes, I am imagining.
I sincerely hope she got more for it cause it's a unique and exquisite piece , However if she decided to keep it then that's Fab too cuase she already loves it and uses it as well !!!! Sweet sweet Ole lady !!!! Yellow diamonds are extremely Rare !!! 💛💎💛
Arialle Lee i think sometimes they low ball, so they can buy it themselves in a auction or privately. But I don't believe the antique roadshow wd do that. I havebeen watching this show for years and they are experts.
mildred webster The appraisers are not allowed to purchase the items. There would be a scandal if they did. I think they may low ball for fear of giving someone false hope.
Arialle Lee I am definitely not an expert but one of my hobbies is watching videos of high end jewelry. I think some are real works of art. Many of the jewels I have seen have fancy colored diamonds. I agree with you and others... the diamond alone is worth way more than $20K. Since it is in a vintageTiffany piece, 100 years old, with known provenance I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it is valued in the hundred (s) of thousand dollars. Nice nest egg!
Merk i should stand corrected. I don't believe the antique road show wd do that. They have far to much integrity to do that. Thankyou for taking notice of my comment
@@angryroy6277 True but consider this. Which would you rather? a) Being told it's worth 100k and getting 20k b) being told it's worth 20k and getting 100k Point is, every appraiser I know, excluding property appraisers, will always low-ball a value to some degree. Long run, it just ends up with more happy people them doing that.
As a homeowner who has added insurance for my appraised valuables and jewelry I’d be livid if an appraiser low bawled my stuff to one-day “make me feel better”. She’s not reading tarot cards, this is her bloody job and she sucked at it.
I see a lot of comments about the appraisal not being correct. I would like you to take a moment to get grip on reality. Just because you are watching this today, does not mean it was filmed today. So I appreciate you all updating us on the MODERN day appraisal.
If selling it makes one’s life easier, helps family get ahead, I’d sell it. Of course, shop around & get the best offer. What good is a piece of beautiful jewelry if you are afraid to wear it because of its worth? Insurance on luxury items is expensive.
I just saw another Louis Comfort Tiffany necklace circa 1900 with black opal & demantoid garnets (rarest green garnets) which Tiffany & Co. offered the lady $25,000. She sold it at auction for $100,000!
20,000 that's all? those people are so full of Bologna! That thing could easily fetch over a million dollars or more at the appropriate auction. Rare + Tiffany + Diamonds = OMG
The necklace / pendant, should be handed on, to the inheritors, inheritors, & not sold off for short term gain. This Lady, got it for a reason, other than the one she knows of - her Gran-ma, knew other values of the Diamond, Seed Pearls & 24 carat Gold mounting. I trust she continues to enjoy wearing it, and passes it to the next Generation. Namaste 🙏
This Gold Pendant was Given by this Woman from her Grandmother as A Treasure To Keep and also To put around her neck as a Monument of her Love ,other than that She also got Gold Coins and other stuff from her Grandmother , She was A Helpful ,Pleasant , and Courteous Grandmother , and also A Chip off the Old Block ,She died in 1936 also had siblings etc ,She was also an Christian too etc
That's my grandma Kathy, and she was one of the best people I ever knew. She told the best stories, and I would just sit with her and try to absorb everything she said.
If that piece dates from the 1900 to early 1929’s Tiffany’s then there is a big chance it came from the LCT era. Moreover Tiffany’s most famous diamond is the yellow Tiffany Diamond. A hideous LCT black opal pendant sold for a $100k, that was also a Roadshow find. This would go for $200k easily.
FINALLY, an appropriate reaction to a stunning revelation. Normally there are just too many deadpan reactions which is saying most of the people don't react at all. Maybe they're not human! (c=
It’s very comforting to watch this woman’s world change. She probably wore that to her desk or her seat at the phone company having no clue that it retailed at tens of thousands.
It was a much different world economy in 2001 if this was broadcast after September 11th. I wonder if that affected the value. 20k does seem on the low end, even 20+ years ago for this rare treasure...
I hope this sweet lady kept this piece, $20,000 is a low guesstimate. Like the expert says at auction $20,000 and up. Yellow Diamond, Rare, Louis Comfort Tiffany, yeh its worth more. And she appreciated it before she knew what it was. Hold on to that lady don't sell it.
$27,186.78 is inflation on $20K for those 15 years, '01 to '16. Ask Tiffany if they know LC made it. They might make an offer. Then she would know the lowest price at that time.
If it was me I would get every cent that I could possibly get from it and enjoy my life and my family for them to draw their life as well I guess that's what her mother left at for.
I sort of wonder why this would be sold at auction. A very rich person might well fall in love with it and offer a million bucks. There are people in the world (can you say Bezos? -- I know you can) who would not even blink at that price.
YEP - DEFINITELY Try THAT 1ST! If No One Takes it for a good Price, Auction Would Bring More than a Pawn Shop Would, But You ARE Totally RIGHT About THAT - That's what I Would Do TOO!!
It would be horrible if she sold it after it’s been passed for generations... I love seeing these videos but when I hear a story about certain stuff I’m just like how can you sell it !! I don’t come from money and stuff but i saw a video about a pocket watch that was valued at 500,000 but it was passed down like 3 or 4 generations and the guy sold it like a moron when he could have kept it atleast until he can make a solid investment on a building complex so that can be generational wealth atleast !!!
I'm starting to think that for some people, ignorance is bliss. Is it better to wear and appreciate jewelry not knowing its value or to have it appraised and suddenly be unable to afford (or unwilling to pay) the insurance fees?
This woman is liar... horrible appraisal. Poor old lady, she believed her. Well the old lady kept saying i did not believe my grandma....I don’t know...I don’t think it is diamond....bla bla...! Shut up lady and say it is very precious to me and I think it has a great value....etc And this terrible appraiser took advantage of the ignorance of the old lady. I paid €330 for a bracelet made by tiffany out of silver. This is tiffany at it's best with history and rarity. Definitely a very low estimate.

How about the pearls....salt water pearls....must be natural pearls....so shining and beautiful

perhaps but remember this was filmed in 2001.

Easily over $80k
Auction prices, not retail.
