I remember watching him as a kid in the 1980s. It's hard to believe that he's 71 now, how time flies.

One of the greatest defensive tackles who ever lived. The man was special.

I moved to 9590 Forest Ln. in 1981, which was right across the LBJ Expressway from the Cowboy training facility. Their trading facility was a DUMP…. A roughshod, dented up, cheap metal building that looked like a shed you put in your backyard, if you didn’t have the money for a nice one…then it looked like you bashed your tractor into way too many times…the fence that surrounded the field was made out of the same POC sheet metal, and was about 8’ high…you, of course could see the goalposts from anywhere near on the outside…there were a few holes you could peek through, but rarely did anyone take advantage of it…occasionally you would see players across the street at the Tom Thumb grocery store. Randy White would park his truck on the dirt hill in front of the training facility (it was a gravel parking lot), sometimes he was had his bass boat behind it. Tony Dorsett could be seen around in his dark blue Mercedes pretty often too… what a great time to be alive and living in North Dallas… Things have since changed in a big way with billion dollar stadiums, and even billion dollar training centers…that POC they had wasn’t even worth 500k, including the land…
Oh, BTW, I ventured into ‘The Million Dollar Saloon’, a GREAT gentlemen’s club, on Greenville Ave. a few times, a LOT of Cowboys went there….it was UNREAL….every girl that entertained there looked like they came straight off a centerfold…no tattoos, no bruises, just perfection…
Also, further down Greenville were what had to be some of the best bars/clubs in the world…and it was thug free back then too…a really really nice place to live…I never got anything stolen out of my truck, including tools, never had any gunshots, rapes, or even smash and grab BS like we have all over now…it was a great time..
One other thing, when I moved down there, I got a job with an in ground swimming pool company, Lamberts Landscaping in North D (635&75). They put me on a native old Texan named Delbert, but everyone, including him, called him “Buck”…after my first day, he drove up to a 7-11 and asked if I wanted a beer, I said “sure”…He said “do you like Kerrs?”. I said what”s Kerrs?”. He pointed to the sign in the window that said Coors….I said “sure”…
He goes in, buys a 6 pack, comes out, hands me one, pops his open, and starts backing out… we are about to get to the on-ramp to 635 and I say”correct me if I’m wrong Buck, isn’t illegal to drink WHILE you drive?”….as he casually sipped his beer without even trying to keep it hidden, he says “not in Texas, as long a you ain’t drunk”…..and he, of course, was right..

This is definitely the narration that plays at the end of a movie during a montage, but that’s not a bad thing.

Wow! That was too funny. And then very sad. I always thought the World would get better. I never imagine border open. Sounded great and fun. I don't have any stories similar. I'm an 85' Bear. Programmed. My school was 85 Bears a decade past. I only like 5 players from that team. Never seen that game. I never liked Football till 2012. Stingley lived in the town over. I hated Football, the sport. I love everything 34. Everyone I knew knew him. He's a Chicago treasure. I was in same clubs as his kids so I would interact with them throughout state. I only like 85' Bears and only 5 players. But I LOVE COWBOYS EVERYTHING EXCEPT WAK. Dez and Romo! I can only watch that Era till now. Cee Dee is my all time favorite.

That's what my dad told me one time, that the cops didn't pay you any mind back in that era if they saw you drinking a beer in your vehicle, as long as you weren't swerving all over and driving erratically. Ah, it was a different world. I can only imagine how classy the women must've looked without tattoos and piercings.

@WePostWeekly I was one of the 2 official photographers for the Texas vs the Nation promoter at the last game the had in the Sun Bowl. Pro Football HOF was the sponsor. He socialized with everyone like he was just the average Joe. He even had me get him on the phone with someone I told him about that had recently lost everything in a hurricane and Randy was his life long hero. He's the epitome of COOL. That's just one of many stories.

He's 3rd all time in sacks for DT's in NFL history. Had Landry not wasted him at linebacker his first 2 years in the league, he'd likely be 1st in sacks by a DT all time.
If he wouldn't have been forced into a frog stance a yard off the line of scrimmage by Landry's Flex defense for most plays, he'd would have had Reggie White/Bruce Smith type career sack numbers, from the DT position, whereas they were ends.

Wow. That's sad. I hope no one ever beats his record. I never understood Landry. Those games are too rough for me to watch him in action. Every documentary he's not very nice. But he never seem overly dirtbag-gy. Like Saban or Chubby coach on Giants. I think all NY games are rigged though. Entire History of sports. California's are too. All teams. If they told the truth. It wouldn't even matter at all. People are every title under the sun until they have to stand for it.

Is it rough for you because of the hits allowed back then?
And when you “died”, what are you referring to?
