    I started a plant based diet 2 years ago. In have lost some weight and fat I would have liked to lose more. However the effect on my blood pressure has truly been amazing. My BP would run sometimes 150/ 90 to 160/95 at the highest. Since going plant based I have had BP readings of 98/60 with the highest being 114/70 and this is immediately after activity. I have never had BP this low. Plants are truly amazing! 💜💚❤

      @@CodyB2725 I would say about 2 months for me. I have been very happy with by Blood pressure readings. Just to know that I can control my B.P without meds is reassuring. What really helped me with eating WFPB was eating food with regards to its potassium content. I kind of made a mental note of how much potassium I was eating every day with emphasis of reaching that daily requirement of 4700 mg per day while keeping my sodium intake low.

      Try the plate method. 1/2 plate non-starchy veggies, 1/4 plate beans/legumes, 1/4 plate minimally processed starch like boiled/baked potato. Limit fruit to 3 whole pieces a day, add a cup of vegetable soup to lunch & dinner plus a salad of only leafy greens dressed with lemon wedge. No oil, no added sugar, no salt, no nuts, no avocado, no juices, no smoothies, no processed vegan foods, eat nothing made in a factory. No bread, limit pasta. When I do this, I lose weight without hunger.

    • @bh2155
      @bh2155 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@happycook6737 interesting concept however do you get enough protein doing this? I think I will starve doing following a your program.. On a WFPB diet I have to eat regularly or I will get hungry. The only thing that keeps me kind of full is beans but it has to be a large portion. I think I need extra calories as I lift weights 4 to 5 days a week plus cardio.

    Orthodox Christian holy books recommend a total of 180-200 days of fasting per year. The faithful are advised to avoid olive oil, meat, fish, milk and dairy products every Wednesday and Friday throughout the year. Additionally, there are three principal fasting periods per year 40 days preceding Christmas, 48 days preceding Easter (Lent) ,15 days in August (the Assumption)

    Would love to see plant based diet vs keto diet go head to head in this same controlled experiment. I've done keto/IF and had great results. But I'm also intrigued by this plant based diet and may incorporate it with IF to see how it does. I do miss eating complex carbs. lol.

      You really should do that. The problem with keto is that the body’s process of ketosis is not stable or meant to be maintained indefinitely. I’ve been WFPB for a couple of years now, and it’s a life saver.. easy too, once you get a few ‘go to’ recipes nailed. Muhammara (walnut & red pepper w chilli) is one i recommend.. it can turn any salad or wrap into a mouthwatering feast.

    A plant-based diet has been proved to be effective in improving diabetes and other medical conditions, so no surprise here. One big barrier is getting PALATABLE plant-based meals. Obviously people getting prepared chef-cooked meals will be super-compliant, so I would expect for such a program to be successful. Now, can anyone create easily-created meals to continue these results?

      i started with boiled or roasted sweet potatoes and steamed broccoli- wow it was the best combination. I learned it from Chef AJ. so many teachers on YT:) I do go to the market almost daily since I am eating so much more food. I make bean patties , oat with banana muffins for something sweet. I am not counting calories and I eat until I feel full 3 times a day. it takes more work food prepping and washing veggies, soaking beans etc, i but my health is worth it.

      Dr Fuhrman has bee preaching about this for years, this is what annoys me every one is acting as though they don't know, but what they diet has been healthy wait until they think there are dying to wake up. The American diet is the one that is geared to give you diabetes not the african diet. Our diet has always been healthy. But black k people forget they diet and have turned to the American diet , which is sad.

      Eat the fibre.. put these things in your smoothies rather than juicing. The fibre is a critical factor in health... it feeds a different type of gut biota which changes your immune response and neurotransmitter profile.

Saw 2 PCPs and one wants to but me on cymbalta or buspar and the other increases my b/p. All labs are good. So what the heck . This sucks. I exercise 5 days a week. I dont mind sharing this as no one knows what to do with me. Grrrr. I havent eaten meat for 28 yrs but did eat cheese. But now I m whole foods plant based no oil, sugar, or salt. So the life style doesnt work for everyone. However , I feel really good. But I do know when my b/p goes up. Guess stress is my big factor

    He pretty much eats all the wrong shit like meats, dairy and so on. He is overweight, has diabetes, discolouring in his lower limbs.
    skin disorder. Amazing how crappy food intake
    inactivity can ruin one's health. I am 10 years older and have no such issues. My heart disease is under perfect control so is my blood pressure and weight. I take no medication other than 100 mg Aspirin and Repatha injection ones a fortnight.
    It is a no brainer. Stay off meats, dairy and processed crap. You be also doing our environment a BIG favour other than your own health.

      if you’re gonna go plant based, dont make it a low carb one, your body does need carbs as well as protein & fats, as long as you’re getting your protein/fats/carbs from plant based foods, that’s what matters

    • @PhilWhelanNow

    • @TheShopGrandOpening
      @TheShopGrandOpening 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're absolutely right. It's written, in book of Genesis Chapter 1 and Daniel Chapter 1, as clear as day, in the way of the word... as the word is the truth... and the truth is God. Amen!
      Genesis 1: "for when He [God] created the earth and heavens and realized it was good and everything in it, he created man in his image and likeness to inhabit it. God gave man dominion of the birds in heaven, the creatures of the sea, and the animals that walk amongst the land. But man must make every seed-bearing fruit of the tree of its kind, and every crop-yeilding plant of its kind should be man's only food portions".
      Daniel 1: "But Daniel proposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portions of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; so Daniel requested, "Please test your servants for ten days, and let the king only provide us vegatables to eat and water to drink. Then let our appearance be examined before you, and the appearance of the young men who eat the portions of the king's delicacies; and as you see fit, deal with your servants." At the end of ten days their features appeared better and fatter in flesh than all the young men who ate the potions of the king's delicacies."
