    Lee's reasoning behind not liking FR style vibrato systems after a bad experience when you started to play guitar, is exactly the same as my experience with vintage style vibrato systems. I wouldn't want anything else than a Floyd Rose or something very similar.

    • @nikolaus2688
      @nikolaus2688 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For me it's the other way round. My first electric had a Floyd Rose, but these days, I much prefer the vintage style Fender ones, or a Bigsby. For my more subtle use of trem, FR is just too much of a hassle to set up, and lacks mishap reistance. Though objectively the better system, I just can't get excited about it.

    • @fasteddievh2072
      @fasteddievh2072 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I totally agree. You nailed it! Especially once you gig with a Floyd Rose. Every other musician in the band has to pause to retune between songs. The lead singer doesn’t ever have to check on me before he starts the song because I’m always in tune and ready to go.

    • @mariodriessen9740
      @mariodriessen9740 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nikolaus2688 : It depends on how you set it up. It can be a hassle indeed, but I set them in such a manner that I can only bend down. So I do compromise on most of my guitars in that way. Although I also used to play a couple of strats with FR style bridges and have them set up floating. Never had a problem with it. Once you set it up it’ll never go out of tune. And when I put on new strings I change them one by one and stretch them before I lock everything again.

    Cheap or not, everyone who has no real experience with a Floyd Rose always trash em'. Every Floyd Rose I've ever owned from the original to the cheap manufacture stamped ones have always been the most rock solid stable tuned guitars. If you're going down the Floyd Rose road then commit to learning how they work. They are truly amazing once you understand them. You are spending so much time learning guitar, learn how to use a Floyd as well. Even the crazy cheap Amazon ones that cost like $25 can be set up well.

    Pete on seeing a new batch of guitars arrive: "Is there a purple one?"

  • @PedroYippeekayaye
    @PedroYippeekayaye 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I bought one of these and it arrived. I gotta say it's a good guitar. Alot of value for money. It's up my alley because I only play blues stuff occasionally, most of the time I'm playing heavy rock so this is cool. I played some Hendrix on it earlier because I was in a good mood and it sounds great (clean). I admire you guys' comradery. I know you like Vintage Strats but you can bust out the shred when you feel like it.

    For the money, looks, and sound, it's a great priced guitar.
    They seem to be regularly sold out at Sweetwater Music, as it took a while of regularly checking in on it before I got one!
    I do have some decent "premium" guitars including a aGibson LP, MD my beloved USA 2009 Stratocaster, and this thing is a fun little guitar. Plus I've always wanted a Kramer since I missed out when I was a kid.
    I do love the little toggle, too lol.
    Great review. BTW, Gibson owns Kramer!

  • @Icepacalapse
    @Icepacalapse ปีที่แล้ว

    Perfect for someone who has the skills to polish this gem. Many have a shim in the neck which requires a sky high tremolo setting.
    Took out the shim and it was lots better. I went further and installed a .5 degree wooden shim which brought the tremolo down further to where you can "deck" it.
    Neck a little sharp but I really got it because the pickups are further apart than a 24 fret guitar which means I can run a sustainiac at higher levels before feedback between pickup and transducer occurs.

    The problem you described with the bar doesn't sound like it was related to the quality of the Floyd, but rather the woodwork in the cavity. When I bought my Schecter Nick J strat, it had the problem you just described (like 3 levels of downward pitch). The problem was the bridge hitting the wood on the inside of the cavity. I removed the bridge and just sanded down the cavity a little bit and it was perfect. Nothing to do with the bridge hardware.

    The shape dates back to the famous legal battle.
    Legend has that Mr. Kramer saw a lawsuit from Fender coming down the pipeline, and pre-emptively sued himself over the trademark "Strat" shape.
    They made a movie about it in like 1979. Dustin Hoffman as Gary Kramer, Meryl Streep as Leo Fender. Kinda slow. Not that much guitar talk in it, really. Kramer vs Kramer, check it out!

  • @Paul_Lenard_Ewing

    Andertons should offer a proper set up of this guitar. I am not suggesting a free one but I would imagine many, many buyers would gladly pay for one. No one wants to get a guitar only to be without for often weeks waiting to get it back from a tech.

    • @PaulCooksStuff
      @PaulCooksStuff 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do, though it's buried in the website smallprint and kinda by exception and you have to contact them before you order.
      There's a "free" setup check, presumably to manufacturers spec.
      There's a paid "custom setup" presumably if you want personalised action heights etc.
      It would be simpler to just offer two checkboxes on the web order form.

    This is one of the most low key "don't buy this" kinda expos I've seen you do, Andertons. I recently bought one of these, a lefthanded one in red, and while it is NOT of the quality of my 2000 Ibanez RG550, It's actually a good guitar. It plays well, sounds nice, has pretty stable tuning and actually the Floyd on it is better than that on my Jackson JS32 Rhoads. (which has the stiffest fine tuners I've played in some 36 years of playing) In short, I like it, it's a half decent guitar (got mine new for £280), and I think people could do a LOT worse for the money.

I already got a Les Paul but I wanted a guitar with a Floyd Rose but heard a lot of bad reviews with some of the Brand name guitars with Floyd Rose system….. I wanted a Fender but hearing they got sued for over pricing and I didn’t want to shell out so much money for some made in Indonesia BS with crappy Pickups and Specs and to pay over a grand and only get a gig bag is disrespectful in my opinion…. So I’m going with Kramer because it’s ran by Gibson so I trust their products more than other brands out there…… I’m jut going to swap pick ups with Seymour Duncan’s Alinco 8’s and Floyd Rose original with Grover Locks….

  • @donkarnage6032
    @donkarnage6032 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Sounds like whomever setup the guitars at the factory simply weren't doing a proper job stretching the strings because that's all that Lee/Pete were doing when wiggling the bar up and down. It doesn't necessarily need some special setup. Just someone who knows how to string a Floyd Rose which on these guitars that don't have floating tremolos is super easy to do. I've had cheap and expensive Floyd Roses'. As long as you stretch the strings correctly it stays in tune just fine.

    Can anyone tell me the difference or feel I would notice going from a pacer vintage to this? The vintage has a 14 radius fingerboard not 12 like these. I'm not a huge fan of those Floyd Rose specials,after a few months,or sooner,you have to block them because the edges or posts wear and they just don't return to zero any longer,not to mention the softer alloy strips easier and has worse tone in my opinion. But a better floyd is gonna drive the price up further. Also, someone on here said they aren't floating,that's not entirely true,they aren't recessed but mine still floats enough to do the Brad gillis type thing.

    If a manufacturer can't afford at least a Floyd 1000 series, they shouldn't be equipping a guitar with a Floyd at all. The generic nameless pickups can be looked past, but a Floyd is only a good idea if it works correctly, and only the 1000 and up work as advertised. I'd rather pay $550 for the same guitar with a Floyd 1000 as opposed to getting a $399 guitar with an inoperable locking trem. It's a shame because the Pacer's always been a great looking guitar, especially with metallic paint - and to not have to shell out $900+ for a full Pacer vintage/limited with Seymour Duncans is a great idea, but they went too cheap with that awful Floyd special/licensed in my opinion.

I'm convinced it has the same internals and cheap hardware as the $179.00 Baretta Classic . If I'm buying a Kramer it's mandatory that it comes with a longer banana style headstock, 84 specs.
    The classic and vintage have the design right but the length is off , too short .

    Wish Kramer would re-release actual 80s popular models with traditional colors... Also not a fan of the rounded edges looks like a overweight guitar. Don't think these will sell too well
    That first pot is WAY to close to the bridge humbugger as Pete would say... Blah ugly guitars
