Thanks for the tutorial. I have an Amana that's a similar model but probably older than yours. The belt broke and I replaced it today. I had it on wrong, I had it on the right side of the tensioner. I knew it wasn't correct they way it fit and the noise the washer was making. I'm glad I found your video and you mentioned the correct placement of the belt. Thanks again!
I am really thankful for this video, I have the same exact problem.. I will try to fix it by my self because I cannot pay for a repairman to come, so thank you again 🙏 ❤️
Paiste boy -- you totally rock! My model was a little different but because of your skilled video and great narrative I was able to fix my washer! Can't believe it's still working after 20 years -- wouldn't hesitate to buy another Amana. Thanks a bunch!
Stevie B ..... You'll have to buy a Speed Queen. Amana got bought out by Maytag in 2002. Their machines were rebranded Maytags. In 2006, Maytag got bought out by Whirlpool. Now, the Amana machines are rebranded Whirlpools. Amana was owned by Raytheon. Raytheon owned Speedqueen. That's who made the Amana machines.
Your machine was manufactured in 1997 according to your serial number. I noticed your tub and transmission are indexing a bit which means it's almost time for new brake pads. I think you were absolutely correct to look at the water pump first for leaking. I have the 2000 model and just recently replaced the seal, bearings and brake pads. These are great machines and we need to keep them running as long as possible then buy a Speed Queen which are almost still identical to our Amanas.
I did it according your guidance, but found easier to, first put the belt behind the pulley, RELEASE the tension spring and easily fit the belt on the second wheel.. THANK YOU..!
I really liked your video. Tomorrow I am planning to replace the drain pump in my (same model) Amana. It was helpful that helpful that you explain the tools needed as you went along. It would not have attempted the repair were it not for your video.
Excellent video. I have the same washer and have read that if you remove the two tub stabilizer springs, and tilt the tub forward, the screws for the pump are obtainable. this would enable you to change the pump and or belt without removing the motor. I am going to try it in a few days when my new pump and belt arrive. A word of caution for your viewers, if you run this pump dry, aka run the spin cycle without water (to say..check your new belt...) you will destroy the pump and replacement will be necessary.
Ty for the video, i wish i knew how to reinstall the motor, it was easy for you i use a 2x4 to lift it up but one screw does not fit anymore, oh well 3 is not that bad, Ty for the strap info, mine was destroy , i love the way you explain it
Your particular model is under the goodman hvac company because Raytheon sold it in 1997 , and yours is an 1997 model , but today Amana is owned by whirlpool today because the original Maytag brought it out in 2001 from goodman , and then Raytheon sold its patent design to speed queen, so speed queen is till using it today as residential and commercial use
When replacing the drive belt, make sure you measure it and only buy one that matches those measurements. Otherwise, there is a risk you will be returning it. My first new one was 4 inches shorter than the original one, even though it was advertised for my washer model. The original one was 32 1/4 " long, but I could only find new ones that were either 32" or 32.5" long. I went with a 32" one and it works perfectly.
I had same problem. I was able to force it off. Watch out for the pulley, don't want to pry on it...I did and bent it up. My pulley is fused to the shaft so had to carefully bend back to being straight again. There is something different about our motors, I found it hard to put the new pump on as well. Seems to work ok after a little pain. Good luck
I have a cordless drill with 2 batteries that have both expired. I really dislike that about them. It just doesn't pay to spend big $ on a cordless anything. Another fine how to video, Well done !
Yeah, I bought my Ryobi cordless drill because my other one was not worth buying new batteries for. I may have to get new batteries though since I have so many power tools that use those 18 volt batteries.
paisteboy I have a couple of the Ryobi cordless 18V units. Buy the lithium batteries and charger for them. Much better but still not as good as the Milwaukee set I bought a few years back. I never use the Ryobis now.
So I have to say. My pump was super stuck... had to take into an appliance place to have them remove it for me. Now running into the problem of getting the dang belt back on the pully 😤🤬😩☹️
Something is wrong at your end. This video has been up for almost 10 years with no issues. Check to see if you have the video muted. It's near the play button
Cool. We ended up doing it twice. The first rebuild was because a mechanic that rebuilt the bottom end didn't use new cir clips on the pistons and one came loose and trashed one side. The second rebuild (in HD video) was because my brother let his sled run out of oil. Thanks for watching.

Nice job.... You are the first one to show it step by step

Thanks for the comment.
Way to go P Man.Another successful venture.Fun to watch you explain it blow by blow.
Thanks. Much appreciated.
I did it according your guidance, but found easier to, first put the belt behind the pulley, RELEASE the tension spring and easily fit the belt on the second wheel.. THANK YOU..!
Great tip!
I just got the same washer with same problem man!
I love TH-cam thanks for the step by step

It's good to know for the future. Thanks for watching.

paisteboy The water pump repair job went well thanks to your video guidance. Thanks again.
Good to here. Fixing that machine is a good idea since it's built so well.
Same problem - you saved me alot of time experimenting - thanks
You're welcome.

That’s a lot of history! I’m impressed that you know all of that! Thanks for the info.

this helpd me alot..my belt is worn out but the water pump seems stuck to the motor shaft..how to get it to come loose?
Hi Sam Johnson,do you resolve your problem, im having same,if positive, how you do?
Same problem here. Any resolve guys?

Is it possible to remove the pump without taking the motor loose? Can you get small socket drive behind the pump to drop it?
It's been a number of years since I did this job so I don't remember but if I removed the motor to get to the pump then I believe it is nessasary.
thank you, i am grateful for your time and expert advise and video.

Lafond RC The lithium batteries are worth the extra money?
paisteboy Heck yeah. Lighter and more powerful. Last longer on a charge as well.
Good job .🔩🔧🔩🔧
Thank you.
Great job fixing instead of replacing.
Thanks. Yeah I still believe this machine has some more years of life in it. They don't build them as well these days.
Good job Bro. I got one outside I need to replace the belt.
Thank you for the video very helpful
You're welcome.

Thanks for the helpful video!
Glad it was helpful!
Did this resolve the issue completely?
Coaster Talk No BS Zone
Yes. For me it did resolve the issue. It's still working great today.
lot of work to get the water pump out.
The pump on other brands are held by simple clamps. Release couple of clamps, and the pump pops out easily.
Ok. Good to know. This is the only machine I've ever worked on.
Thanks for posting. It helps.
Glad it helped.
My shaft rusted to the metal drive bushing. I noticed it's plastic now.
I wish you success with the repair.
Hey that’s a speed queen 👸
I guess it's the same.
Thanks.
You're welcome.
Great videos
+blong yang
Thanks.
Have you seen the new tool available for removing stuck inner tubs on Cabrio, Oasis and Bravos washers???? Part # JTP2014B. It's Awesome!!!
Part #JTP2014B ...
Nice and easy
Glad to hear.
So I have to say. My pump was super stuck... had to take into an appliance place to have them remove it for me. Now running into the problem of getting the dang belt back on the pully 😤🤬😩☹️
Turns out I had a belt that was too small 🤦🏻♀️
Ah. Best of luck with the machine. Thanks for watching.
Where did you order the parts?
There should be a link in the description for the water pump.
I have the same issue my washer is leaking same place. So I am thinking same thing water pump
Sounds reasonable.
What about the dog feeds
What are you talking about? Dog feeds?
You didn't show how the belt was positioned around the pump
Did you check my other video. I may have shown the belt in that video. This was many years ago so I don't recall what was in the video at the time.
You need a telescopic magnet to pick up the lost screw..!! 👀
I have a couple now. I'm not sure if I had one back then.
This washer was built by Speed Queen
👍
Thank You!!!
You're welcome.
Mine leaks too but also stopped agaitating
Sorry
The Amana Washing Machines built by Speed Queen are way better than the Amana models built by Whirlpool.
Maybe so but it lasted me over 22 years.
There is no volume

in the other video of this washer you said 1997
+Adam Czech
It was 1997. I said the wrong dates in this video. I bought this washer at my first house that I bought in 1997.
+paisteboy our apartment has one. the motor burned out yesterday with smoke coming out of the sides.
That doesn't sound good.
+paisteboy I typed in the model number and found your video. I watched those top end rebuild on that Mxz. great vids.
