Who’s here because they actually like this song?
Lol hahaha
Nobody
Edit: I think people didn't really get what I was trying to say with nobody. I actually meant that nobody came because of the song but because of that video where thise 2 kids meet. Don't worry I like the song. Well actually only the beginning but still.
Of course
Amanda Lim 🙋♂️
Me
I'm still low-key pissed at Barnum. Charity left everything to be with him, she's the best character, hands down.
Same, I like Phillip and Anne better than her but yah
Are u a exo-l 💜💖🍭💚💚
can someone pls explain the meaning of this song
i still dont understand : (
i feel like its very deep
@@erinjoyflordelis9261 i can explain it to u but everything will make more sense if u watch the movie
@@ChastyBabe i already watched the movie in our classroom
its just that, thats the only scene i still dont get
This is literally such an underrated song.
Couldn't agree more, this song falls under "timeless songs", meaning I'd listen to it more than "This is Me" and "Never Enough", but I rlly Love The Greatest Show Reprise.
fully agree the most powerful song in the whole of the film
This song is the best
IKR

Can we just take a second to appreciate Michelle Williams' singing skills here? Because, first of all, the vocals are amazing. But the way she manages to link it to the film plot is so good. You can tell by her voice that it sounds like she could break down and start crying any moment. To be able to fill a song with that much emotion is truly admirable. I really think this is one of the most underrated songs ever.
Couldn't agree more
FInally someone praising Michelle Williams' singing!!!! Couldn't agree more, she has such beautiful singing voice. Her singing is also great in My Week With Marilyn
Totally agree, she’s a wonderfully talented actress and singer. Very understated and sensitive in her portrayals. And she seems to be an understated and sweet person irl too.
To be honest this was my favorite song in the entire movie. Her vocals are so so sweet but the acting that she puts into it, are seriously something that I feel between my airpods. It really is magical, and it’s something that you just can’t fake. Bar none, it’s my favorite thing I had the pleasure of watching. Especially studying theatre, it’s the acting in MUSICAL THEATRE that gives such a great performance. Still cry every time
Who wold not agree
The moment that hurt to see was watching his daughter smile so big at the end of her ballet concert and then looking up looking for her dad and he’s not there.... you can literally she her heart breaking as she tries to keep a smile. All the while you can tell charity realizes how much her husband is missing....beautiful song
***tears***
...especially with the innocent excitement on the younger daughter's face...😭😭
And that moment when they keep switching from Jenny to Anne, with them throwing flowers at her and her openly accepting adoration, and then cutting to the racists and throwing crap at Anne as she has to keep her composure.
Alexandra Brown Yea it cant be that hard
@@shadowafton6905 What can’t?
Can we appreciate how deep this song is?
2024 edit: I was 14 when I commented this, so r/im14andthisisdeep
but fr, this is a great song
Yes we can. ***tears***
Its deep when i am walking a tight rope with Jesus.
I felt this song in emotional level.
Most underrated song in the movie. Michelle did a fine job.
Every songs from the greatest Showman are sooo deep and incredible
I just love that moment at 2:17 (and also 2:44), her movement and voice and the music imply that she's going to break out into a big and dramatic song-finale but instead she just carries on singing "with you" very calmly! It's like a symbol for Charity not needing a big dramatic, luxurious life - she's happy and satisfied as long as she is with Barnum. It also shows the contrast between her and Jenny, who sings "Never enough" which is the musical equivalent of drama and pomposity
Yeah. FUCK THAT STUPID NEVER ENOUGH SONG. JUST FUCK IT. IF YOU LIKE IT MORE THAN THIS THEN FUCK OFF.
what a pretty interpretation
@@brokeneggshell5041 so aggressive.
@-AloeIght- never enough is one of my favorite songs as well, but I agree with what they said in this comment... Charity is simple, despite being born rich, she just wants to stay with Barnum, even though she knows it will be hard. Jenny, on the countrary, is born "poor" or in a bad condition, and she wants to go higher. Their songs, Tightrope and Never Enough, reflect all of this perfectly. Tightrope is a very chill song, even if full of emotions, so it represents Charity perfectly, as a simple woman who just wants love from life, while Never Enough is a harder song, with less emotions and more wish to explode, which is totally what Jenny is and wants to be (even though both are amazing songs, here it's more talking about the characters than of the songs)
@@user-yc9gv4jw2e I know it's late but I agree when I was looking at the lyrics never enough I realized that it was saying and then she could have everything in the world and it still wouldn't be enough to her but in tightrope all she wants is her family she just wants her husband and her kids she doesn't matter if it's going to be a hard life as long as they have each other. I love both songs I think they're both amazing.
This is actually my favorite song of the whole movie. She has such a pure sweet voice.
same
sincerely...
Most people say that Never Enough was the most powerful and emotional song in the movie, but I still think “Tightrope” is the most emotional ;; (in my opinion).
Anuraxan I feel like the Never Enough Reprise was supposed to make me feel bad for Jenny, but I was just like “ eh, I don’t care”
When it comes to the melody, Never Enough is powerful. But when it comes to the context, Tightrope is way more powerful. If only people will understand the song first. This song is really underrated.
I mean even the scene is beautiful.
Anuraxan never enough is powerful but tightrope is the most emotional
Tightrope most emotional
This is Me most powerful
In my opinion
I love when charity never complained about their life. She loves them unconditionally. She's the best character for me in the movie :')
Mary Varon He didn’t know what he had until he lost it😕
Tots agree
Me to and the kids.
Jenny is my faaaaavvvv
Mary Varon me too, but i like philip (zac🤯😍) too hahahha❤️😂
I can feel the line
"never sure will you catch me if I should fall"
Am I the only one here who actually doesn’t know what the video everyone is talking about is but just likes the song
there is a video called "korean boy meets american girl for the first time" and in the video the american girl showed the korean boy this song so people came to hear the song themselves lol
Yep
Yeah idk what's going on with the comments either
No, I have no idea what video everyone is talking about
watch the movie "The Greatest Showman"
Anyone notice how the scene where Barnum's children chase after his carriage mirrors the earlier scene where a young Barnum chases after Charity's carriage when her father carts her off to finishing school to keep them apart? Oh the irony...
Why 😣
True
I noticed that
This is just like the waltz scene at the ending part which kinda mirrors a part in a million dreams, but with a sad, sad ending.. :'(
I thought they made it like that on purpose, no?
This song and scene is so powerful. Instead of marrying someone who "longs for a life that is simple and bland," Charity marries a man with dreams. Their whole life, Charity has stood by Barnum to support his crazy dreams, except now Barnum's dreams don't involve Charity anymore. I think that Charity knows that someday he will remember what is important. This song is so underrated, in my opinion.
Hahaha of all the times I've listened to this song and had no idea! @Audery Roberts
U boring no offence
ALOOLA l were you looking for Korean kid and American kid comments?
She just wanted to be with him. I have this vision of Charity thinking 'was I not enough?'
Louvie lol "never enough" for her too
2:36 this part!!!!! Gezzzzz i replay it over and over! Her voice was angelic 😍💗
Have you noticed how the shadow disappears in between the curtains here?
her graciousness, integrity and class as her husband leaves with another woman and how she handles it is so gut-wrenching, I learn from her strength
She loved him:
From the beginning
When he didn't have anything
She waited for him:
When she got sent away
When he went with jinny
She was there for him:
When nobody was
She left him:
When he officially broke her
She loved him again:
When he was the man she fell for
Why is this comment so underrated
it makes me wanna cry when she's dancing with him and suddenly she realizes she's dancing with the curtain 😩😩😩😩😩😩
Beautiful detail that when she slides past the second window, he actually dissappears between the curtains.
Sorry but when you said "dancing with the curtain" I almost laughed
what when where

Lowkey still pissed that Barnum chose Jenny over Charity. Charity legitimately loved him and didn’t care about what life they had, as long as she had him. Charity deserved way better. Best character in the movie to me (besides Zac and Zendaya’s of course)
Stacy Verre he was still a jerk to her. Sure he came back but that doesn’t make him leaving Charity alone to go with Jenny okay. I can still think he was kinda an asshole.
He went on tour to try to get more costumers for this circus...he never did it for Jenny and he loves charity and he didn't kiss Jenny......Jenny kissed him
Emily Jake that is true, Jenny was the person to kiss him, but I still think there were a lot of emotions there between them. I just feel bad for Charity, I just don’t think Barnum was good to her in those scenes.
@@screamitloud7923 I think he was blinded by the lights like he said on the song "From Now on" , he always love Charity but he became ambicious and he makes Jenny believe that he was falling in love for her, but the truth is that he hurt his wife and Jenny with no intention. BTW my favorite song is From Now On because I think in this moment he understand why he started to be the creative and crazy person that he was
@@screamitloud7923 Barnum never had any feelings for Jenny, he fell in love with celebrity, fame and fortune, he always truly loved Charity from the beginning
Just to clarify for some of you guys, Barnum was never in love with Jenny Lind, he was really just in awe. Jenny had a crush on him but Barnum didn't return the same feelings.
The Marshmallow and Charity never thought Barnum was cheating on her. She said he's in love with no one but the money.
Syrah E. I know but some people believe that Barnum was cheating on charity
The Marshmallow He basically used her to make himself look good
The Marshmallow it also wasn’t a real life thing. She actually left his whole thing because of some reason that had to deal with his morals or money
I was very confused about this song. I thought he was cheating on her
I just adore the part at 2:35 where she’s dancing with the shadow of her husband!! It’s so heartbreaking and so beautiful all at once!!
Yeah I agree
Scarlet's Sanctuary hehnendjjs
Scarlet's Sanctuary. Me toooooooo
Same here I keep on replaying that part
Cool
This song is underrated but I love it more than Never Enough
Who thinks this is actually more meaningful than Never enough?
when barnum was ‘dancing with her’ she was singing legato (the notes flowed with each other) and when he wasnt with her they were more staccato (seperated and quick) i think they did this on purpose and if they did its a really nice touch to the piece
Agreed.
jiminaintgotnojams agreed.. This is totally off topic butttttt WE ARE JIMINS JAMS
Paytin Kealoha yesss
jiminaintgotnojams yeah👍
Good point!
What I find emotional about this part of the movie is when Charity was dancing with the shadow of Barnum but it was just the curtains. Also the fact that Barnum left Charity, his own kids, the circus for that Never Enough singing girl (idk her name). And the fact that people were cheering for Barnum and the Girl and people were hating on the circus people!
I know it's just really sad😭😭😭😭
When i saw this scene i cried, but that part when his shadow disappears? I lost it. I absolutely lost it
you said it all
Jenny Lind or something, idk
"Never enough singing girl" bahaha

Some people long for a life that is simple and planned
Tied with a ribbon
Some people won't sail the sea 'cause they're safer on land
To follow what's written
But I'd follow you to the great unknown
Off to a world we call our own
Hand in my hand and we promised to never let go
We're walking the tightrope
High in the sky
We can see the whole world down below
We're walking the tightrope
Never sure, never know how far we could fall
But it's all an adventure
That comes with a breathtaking view
Walking the tightrope
With you, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
With you, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
With you
Mountains and valleys, and all that will come in between
Desert and ocean
You pulled me in and together we're lost in a dream
Always in motion
So I risk it all just to be with you
And I risk it all for this life we choose
Hand in my hand and you promised to never let go
We're walking the tightrope
High in the sky
We can see the whole world down below
We're walking the tightrope

You did the lyrics wrong 😑
He didn't even stop for a moment to say goodbye to his children. :'(
Isobel Duncan I watched this in the cinema with my mother and during the scene she cried and I think it was also because it's been two years since she and my father separated
That scene mirrors the one at the beginning where a young PT Barnum chases after Charity when SHE'S the one in a carriage being carted off to finishing school by her father who wants to keep her away from PT.
But unlike Charity, Barnum decided to go off with Jenny.
ikr like when jenny lind came he changed

Honestly before this movies, I did not know that Michelle could sing, and I love her voice, this is the most underrated song of the movie, and while the song was "reimagined" I still love this version. There is such a storytelling to Michelle's voice in this song, you can feel the pain expressed in her voice through this song. Love this song.
This song is honestly so underrated. Michelle Williams did a splendid performance for the song and for her acting throughout these sequences! :D

This song does not get enough recognition . Charity is my favorite character . She left EVERYTHING to be with Barnum and Barnum took it for granted . I was pissed . Charity is the best character, periodt .
Yess agree
Jenny's song Never Enough portrays that the life she even had to herself would never even be enough while Charity's song portrays how she loves Barnum and the family she created unconditionally still with love even though Barnum is neglecting them for a time.
Something about tightrope keeps me in the emotional feels.
This song is a great representation of the other point of view. No matter the context, married, or otherwise, when someone is abandoned by someone that was supposed to love them it can be devastating.
Stargate Fan this comment though 💔 on point
This song is so amazing and I feel sorry for charity 🙈
Been there done that recently
@@emileewinslade1288 Yes, she was lonely, but at least he did not cheat on her.
the silence after“if i should fall” is really powerful and it, albeit carrying no words, does convey a clear message, with an overt melancholy clung to it
2:37 This is how it feels when you're inlove with a fictional character.
The pain

That’s me with charity bruh
The saddest song on the movie. 😭
Anne Palisoc I know
AND also this is me (for me tho) but this still made me cry 😥
Anne Palis
no from now on
Anne Palisoc for me million dreams
Man the part when Barnum was with Jenny and they were getting applause and roses and it cut to back where Phillip(Zac Efron) and the circus were getting yelled at and people angry... For me it really felt like the part where Barnum kind of lost himself a bit and just wanted everyone to like him.
One Girl also when wasn't there to applaud his daughter but was applauding Jenny
I was furious at Barnum untill the end then I loved him to death
I remember almost stopping the movie when barnum got kissed on stage. That scene felt like a crack in my heart
No matter how many times I see it I always get chills when she turns around and sees that no one is there
I saw a trusting wife who waited patiently and a husband who almost blew it. Jenny is a collateral damage of the process of his realisation.

Out of all the marvellous songs The greatest showman has, this always hits way deeper to me. Currently, Im 23 and falling in love like never before, but this person is afraid to satrt something even to think of starting something because of past traumas. He likes me so much, but doesnt want to hurt me. There is nothing I can do because I cannot pressure him. This song describes perfect the fact of just eanting to be with you all through the mountains and valleys. People, please, love and let yourself be loved

@JackOfSpades AaRoN bUrR,sIr
JackOfSpades - Hamilton was a movie of a STAGE MUSICAL. It was not a “movie musical”. It’s great, no doubt, but it’s a different class as Greatest Showman, as this is a movie, not a film of a stage creation. Although, tbh, there was, years ago, maybe 25 years ago, a Broadway musical called The Greatest Showman was produced. It had nothing to do with this movie. It was ok, but not up to par to this musical. This one has TONS better songs and a better story. But I get your drift.
The part where she is dancing by herself at the end is heartbreaking (incredible transition at the end though)

Seeing her drop the plates as she looked over Barnum’s seat with such emotion on her face really got to me. She wanted him to be there so badly and even started to question if he still loved her.
once you understand the lyrics you’ll understand Charity’s pain
Hahahha hai po ???
"Daddy, Daddy! No wait!!" I think Charity sings this song because of the girls and how sad they are about him leaving!😭😭😭
Important thing to remember about this to all those hating on Jenny Lind. The movie's portrayal of her was HIGHLY fictionalized and a bit of an insult to the real woman she was. Jenny was one of the best singers in the world for her time and gave almost everything she had to charity fighting poverty and taking care of orphans in the UK. She worked for Barnum for a short period of time. She never had any interest in him and in fact was pretty clear that she found him to be rather deplorable. She didn't think he was a very good person and considering how the REAL Barnum treated the performers who made him rich, I would not disagree.
hate her in the movie if you want, but just remember that was no where near an accurate portrayal of her
Preach.

LYRICS
Some people long for a life that is simple and planned
Tied with a ribbon
Some people won't sail the sea 'cause they're safer on land
To follow what's written
But I'd follow you to the great unknown
Off to a world we call our own
Mountains and valleys, and all that will come in between
Desert and ocean
You pulled me in and together we're lost in a dream
Always in motion
So I risk it all just to be with you
And I risk it all for this life we choose
Hand in my hand and you promised to never let go
We're walking the tightrope
High in the sky
We can see the whole world down below
We're walking the tightrope
Never sure, will you catch me if I should fall?
Well, it's all an adventure
That comes with a breathtaking view
Walking the tightrope
With you, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
With you, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
With you
With you, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
With you, ooh-ooh-ooh
With you
