  • We found a vintage Thunderbird minibike and are using it as a base for a café racer-style minibike build. We love the slant-engine style of the frame and think this thing is going to look awesome and retain a lot of the vintage flair. In this video we are really bringing it all together with custom paint and a fully built engine! Thanks to Gopowersports for all the parts we used on this build, links are in the description below!
    Thank y’all for watching and be sure to stay tuned for the next step of the build!

    The engine cover is there for cooling. Maybe some thin clear acrylic could be formed to retain the intended feature.
    I’d hate to see this thing seize.

    • @TheTalonts
      @TheTalonts 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Lexan would probably be better, less likely to shatter, but either will end up scratching up pretty quickly.
      .
      Still, if you're THAT worried about showing off the flywheel, you'd make up bucks to form the Lexan, and then just bend up some new ones as the ones on the bike get too scratched.

      That happened to me with my go kart, and it is reliable most of the time, but it will not stop if you have done heavy braking. Worst comes to worst, just nail the brakes as hard as you can, and it will eventually stop.

    The old pull cover was there to direct air from the flywheel over the cooling fins on the engine,by getting rid of the original cover you are getting rid of the engines ability to cool itself.

    The sheet metal around the flywheel is to duct air over the head to cool it. The cage that you have doesn't do that and is probably meant for running these engines on methanol.
