I've got a gehl 1475 round baler, great baler. Simple and always makes a consistent bale. Can't beat them. They are also inexpensive, mine only has 1400 bales through it and I paid $2500 for it.

Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Whenever I see equipment on a farm sale like that, I always think it would be neat to know the story behind the purchase. That is something your Dad shares with us from time to time. I always enjoy that. Hope you can shed those heavy coats soon.

Nice that you and your Dad get to go on excursions. Can't believe the prices they get out of the old drawbar tractors without 3 pt. 50+ years ago you couldn't hardly give them away. Now tractors the caliber of your IH Farmall M's bring big $. Seems that the mid 60's thru mid 70's tractors command big prices too if they're in decent shape.

I have a Gehl 1875 round baler and I really like it and it's fairly simple to run and work on. The monitor is very nice and u can actually buy an adapter for net wrap. They are fairly inexpensive to buy and parts are available, really like watching ur videos

That 352 mixer appears to be in decent condition. Growing up, we had one - it lasted 54 years turning out an average of 3 loads of feed per week. Finally last year the main gearbox self-destructed. Even rusty mixers from that era still bring several thousand.

Makes me sad when I see a farm auction sale like that, so many treasured memories tied up in all that equipment which was once shiny and new, the farmer exited to use it for the first time. I hope the farm can come back to life someday soon.

Gehl round balers were good balers for they’re time, you can usually pick one up for cheap but parts are hard to come by

I always enjoy your videos. You are a great narrator. It would be nice if some young man like yourself could rent the farm but it probably went to some big farmer who could care less about the place.

Syttende Mai as I'm watching this, almost a month after your filming. We're waking up to the aftermath of a good freeze over night. (22º in the northeast) It's a scramble here trying to see what's salvageable on the fruit crops.
I'd be interested in knowing what that mixer went for.

You'll want a drill to put cover crops like Winter Rye down. While I've broadcast my rye then light disk it so the birds have less of a feast, a drill would be much more effective. The top success at cover cropping is Rick Clark's presentations on youtube for his 5k acre all-organic/no chem operation.

Be really careful with those fertilizer box extensions. Add center support to your main box or I've seen the box blow out when fully loaded

I have that Gehl Round baler. Makes 5 by 6 bales. Good baler mine is twine only. Works good. Bales are a little loose but that is twine. I only gave like 3500 dollars for mine at a dealer. Would be another one. Hope that helps a little bit.

Gehl round balers are usually cheap . Decent baler but they don’t make parts for them anymore so hard to get anything if they breakdown.

The New Holland 489 , 492 and 1465 all had the floating head. The 469, 479 and 488 do not. I have a 488 and love it. The 489 I had was nothing but trouble.
