- Join our Campaign Specialist for Captive Animals Brittany Michelson and our partner group Panda Voices for a presentation of our panda advocacy efforts, most notably the Memphis Zoo campaign featuring giant pandas YaYa and LeLe. In this Fireside Chat, we will share the steps we took to fight for the release of the pandas, the media coverage we received, and how YaYa is now thriving in her homeland.
Symbolic to China and highly revered by Chinese people, pandas are a beloved species worldwide. We will touch on the diplomacy program between China and the U.S and share our goals for continued panda advocacy. Heartbreaking. Animals should not be exploited as economic commodities, nor should they be locked up for entertainment or research. It's so ridiculous that an outside party had to notify the Memphis zoo that "their" animal was collapsing 🙄 so upsetting. RIP Lele, I hope you see that not all people are evil. I'm glad Yaya is back in China, and I hope she gets transferred to a refuge.
I really appreciate all of your hard work, In Defense of Animals. I can't stand to see animals suffer.

Pandas should not be abused in any way. Pandas are not ours to exploit. IDA is a great organization. LeLe and YaYa were sent to the wrong Zoo. I'm saddened by any animal that is sent to Zoo's.
