  • A quick video showing you how the sterno cooking fuel behaves. This is an alcohol based fuel and is very different from the various fires and stoves most people are used to. Just because you cannot see the flame does not mean it is not there, Use safety when working with this fuel to protect yourself. Thanks for watching and hope this helps. Check out my other video for a full length review and demonstration.

    I spilled gel all over my counter and was on fire a couple days ago. Luckily it didn’t burn anything. Lol. I just poured water on top and wet paper towels 😊

    Definition: Chafing fuel is a generic term for various products that are used for heating food. These products often contain methanol, ethanol, or diethylene glycol, as these may be burned safely indoors. These fuels are also used for emergency heating, outdoor cooking, and fondue.
    I believe they are exactly the same. Just different labels.

    If you're on fire and don't realize it you're probably already dead.
    So, this cooking fuel is different from the chaffing fuel?

    The can you display is labelled "cooking fuel". I have seen and am in possession of cans labeled "chaffing fuel". Similar gelatinous fuel. What makes chaffing fuel different from cooking fuel?
    I don't know if I can be clearer than that.

      It's exactly the same thing. The term used depends on the context: A can under a big food dish, keeping it hot, has "chafing fuel". A can under a small camping pot, heating it up, has "cooking fuel".

    Is it bad to use Methanol Cans?

    • @martin.feuchtwanger
      @martin.feuchtwanger 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So long as you don't try to eat/drink the methanol -- it causes blindness or death -- the fumes are OK.

      What makes this fake? Have you ever observed the flame on a sterno can? It's almost invisible when the lights are on. I have burned highly distilled alcohol in an open dish and it is essentially invisible in bright light.
