  • In the U.S., the government prints stamps, paper money and passports, but that's not the case for much of the rest of the world. Many nations have these items created by a single private firm based just outside London. De La Rue has been in business for more than two centuries and is known for offering clients both style and security. Roxana Saberi reports.

My country Philippines once had its money printed by Thomas de la rue. Beginning the time of president Marcos in the 70s my country printed its own money.

I'm here because I was researching the companies that make currency/bank notes for many countries. I was reading about The American Bank Note Company out of The Bronx, NY. I collect currency, and had noticed that Pre-WWII Greek bank notes had The American Bank Note Company printed on the bottom of the bills. Perhaps i'm not that astute of a collector, but I always thought that bank notes were always printed in the country that they are issued. You live and you learn, as they say.
The art work on so many bank notes is stunning, to say the least!

in Mexico, the American Bank Note Company printed most of its money from the 1860s well into the 1970s. Also printed money for many, if not, all Latin American countries.

This isn't money its PAPER you ever think about it? The so called "MONEY" in your wallet is just paper. Real money is silver and gold. Start prepping by investing in gold and silver. Paper "money won't be a thing much longer.

"Money" in the modern sense is intangible. It's not so much as in the gold and silver you mentioned as well. It is the representation of compensation given to you for your labour/trade/economic contribution to society---it is the credit given to you by society based on your contribution. Hence it's NOT the gold or silver or paper note that is valuable, it is what you have done that's counted and these items are just the represenation of those intangible units of your contribution. That's why our "money" is been reduced to just computer data on a harddisk in our bank accounts.

Gold and silver are good to buy as a currency value preserver, but if very bad things happened like ww3 for example the gold and silver is not that valuable for an average Joe or Jane to survive, at the end of the day gold and silver are just shinny metals you can't eat, drink, get warm, get healthier, or being physically safer by using them. In time of war when you need food I can assure you that you will be willing to give 1oz of fine gold to buy some food or 1 box of medication. Things will become very scarce that gold will not be on the top of list. So if survival through very hard time is your goal you need to invest in things that cover you physiological needs and safety.
