No joke, I just finished an Override: Last City match and there was one guy who spent the entire first half just standing over Lakshmi's corpse and going to town on it. Bullets, grenades, tea bagging, the whole nine yards. It was just too funny to be upset at him for not helping us.

Honestly, I kind of felt like crying there. The way he said it with a little sadness. I love Saint-14 even more now. He's always been a great hero, then we learned WE inspired him, and ow he went from hating the Fallen, to respecting and calling House Light his people. Beautiful story we saw unfold this season. One of the best I'd say as we got a very got a crises that was directly effecting the people of the Last City, and we got glimpses into how it was effecting them as we saw hatred and anger flare up. Then we stopped the Endless Night and celebrated with the Solstice of Heroes, only for Lakshmi to eventually let her hatred cause her to unleash the Vex in the city, and we had one more epic battle and Lakshmi died. Pretty good Season.

Mithraks and the Saint
I’ve said this elsewhere, but from a storytelling perspective, having Mithrax rehash some of the same lines he’s said during other Overrides with a new level of panic was so incredibly effective, at least to me. We know these lines, we’ve heard them a million times, but now he’s saying them in a way where he knows that if we make a mistake, we are probably doomed.
In the Overrides that I ran yesterday, people were dying left and right, Champions were constantly hijacking the main terminals and honestly no team I was on really had it together. Which is funny because Overrides are pretty familiar at this point, but there was something about this one where we were just getting stomped and making a lot of mistakes. I’m not complaining, its just interesting to note.
Agreed. Theres some sense of urgency that temporarily breaks the monotony of how we normally do them
No one, and I mean *no one* died during the first override I did when the epilogue dropped. I have never seen a group of 6 random guardians go so hard in an activity

I really enjoyed that override more than the others.
I’m a little disappointed Saint didn’t use Ward of Dawn to shield the Eliksni. Would’ve been a really nice symbolic moment
I know, right? Especially when they’re standing back there without any cover, even if those Vex had the aim of potatoes.
Right? Ikora was the only one who acted as if she had the light, everybody else acting like its still the red war campaign
THATS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT! The whole cutscene, cool as it was, just felt a bit stiff and awkward. I feel like if he had used the ward (maybe even pulled them in) it would have been super poignant given the story Mithrax told us earlier this season.
I said the same thing and I've seen quite a few other people say it also so I think it's definitely a missed opportunity. Imagine the image that the Eliksni equate to fear now protecting them...
That might have been one of the most profound moments in any of the games.
Maybe he wanted to avoid giving them PTSD! The cutscene that portrayed the Saint as a monster in the eyes of the eliksni showed him dragging them into his bubble, maybe he's ashamed of using it at the moment? Deep.
Truly an excellent way to cap off the season! A screaming Saint-14 “YOU ARE MY PEOPLE” god damn, the feels!

I’ve never tried so hard in a PvE activity in my life, I thought it was actually time gated to win and I was super into it. Really excited for next season.

Whatever Osiris is up to, I'm still convinced that Executor Hideo was who Savathun walked the city as.
It was a red flag to me the instant he said it lol
I think savy is messing with us when osiris says that. I think she hasn't underestimated us and has done all of this to boost our ego which she could then use to defeat us.
Or is savy trying to help us make allies? I wasn't here for season of the chosen but for season of the splicer, it all nicely leads into us losing power hungry factions and gaining new and faithful eliksni allies. And she just lets that happen? Is she trying to help us?
The second I heard that line, I was like... why is Savathun being so threatening.. it's as if she's actually caught off guard.
Can we just bring up the fact that SAINT-14 called the mithrax and the rest of the fallen his people???

@@imnotkirasora5288 Only if you look at the surface. Saint-14 is a deeply compassionate man. It's practically written into his character that the moment he realizes someone is "just like him" he will change his mind about them.
Feeding birds in the tower hanger is not a side-detail about his character. It's a part of a deeper motivation for him.
It's not merely that he fought Fallen, but *why* he fought Fallen. He loved people.
He is simple: Innocent people good! Therefore: Smash enemies of innocent people! 😂

It's a subtle thing, but hearing the same lines as with the other overrides, just said with more urgency and intensity made the mission feel that much more hectic and important

Some people speculate that the Asher harpy in this mission is actually the one that killed her. Probably went something like Lakshmi opens the portal letting Vex in, followed by Asher's Harpy floating up to her and going "you dumb robobitch, you let the Vex into the City!" before killing her. Asher would be pissed that someone put Vex in the Last City, probably enough to beat them to death lmao

I want to be able to upgrade Perfect Paradox again. That was my favorite shotty to use
Listening to Lakshmis broadcast and realising she's going to open a portal, all I could think of was how Torobatl fell to Xivu Arath and how similar this whole situation seemed. I was kind of relieved to face Vex if I'm honest.

I was worried about this same kind of situation when the Endless Night was actually going on. Considering how they summon Xivu then, the fact that the center of the city beneath the Traveler was always covered in excessively thick storm clouds, I was worried that they were going to try the same thing, especially after discovering that Savathun was behind the Night because that's a bit too convenient.
@@fuoco1365 considering that she was at least partially motivated by her own personal ambition to take over the city, I have no sympathy for her.
Twice now savathun has done this: trick someone into opening a portal to an enemy that can't be reasoned with (xivu arath and the vex), and force them to ally themselves with an enemy that can. I'm starting to think that humanity allying/ceasing hostilities with the cabal and some of the eliksni is once again all part of the plan
Lakshmi became the very cause and problem she tried so desperately to prevent, Osiris is looking very sus, and Ikora finally does something since the Red War.
Somehow i'm surprised Savathun isn't here already.

Ikora went to the Moon to investigate the Pyramid and check on Eris. If that counts. Luckily, Bungie stated that Ikora will play a bigger role in Witch Queen.
I had a theory earlier in the season during one of the expunge missions Mithrax asks if he could try to improve Lasmik’s “machine” but Osiris insists that it’s fine as is
What if Osiris messed with the device specifically to show Lashmik this future where she leads knowing that she would do whatever it took to get there?
Considering how sus osiris is,this is very likely
Lakshmi has been seeing this future for a looooooooong time because the Vex Network she was plugging into is controlled by Savathun. I think, after Oryx was beaten by the forces of the Last City, Savathun saw it as an opportunity to rid the Hive of their dependence on the Darkness and get out of the Sword Logic system. But to do that, she's got to still work within her own parameters. I'm speculating that in Season 15 and Witch Queen, Savathun is going to try and use us to "free" her people from the Sword Logic as the system just leads to extinction instead of evolution.
Can't believe Byf didn't draw any attention to the fact that Amanda Holiday, who has only 1 life to give, decided to risk it defending the Eliskni.
I've had so much respect for her she not only battled in the red war making her a badass but now giving her life to defend a once her a enemy

God, the emotion in Saint’s voice when he said “you are my people!” He sounded genuinely afraid, like he wasn’t sure if he could get to Mithrax and the HoL in time to save them.
Also, maybe things won’t get worse from the absence of the factions. Maybe things will improve? Maybe now the Last City’s inhabitants can have a voice without any potential faction filters. With humanity in the state it’s in, political agendas are the last thing we need right now. We can’t exactly lobby Savathun to death, can we?
I'm not convinced Osiris is possessed. I think he's playing his own 8D chess. Yes, he helped FWC open the portal but remember Lakshmi-2 believed she could control the Vex. Do you think Osiris who fought them the entire time he spent in the infinite forest really believe controlling the Vex was possible? This single move eliminated the loyalist, the factions, exalted the Eliksni and brought stability to the last city. If he was possessed I don't see how this benefits Savathûn in any way.
He also put his lover at Risk. Didnt report in his status. Could have easily avoided Many civilians casualties.... Doesnt look good for him chief
Starting from Season of Arrivals, it feels like Savathun has been trying to make us stronger (Overconfident). As her main strength is Cunning, and considering hive a history of sadistically playing with their prey, it might be her way of "fattening the pig" so to speak. Allowing her to savor the fight (and gorge her worm, even though im pretty sure she hates the thing?)

I think Savathun has been masquerading as Osiris since Season of the Hunt. We might be getting more insight into the death of Sagira soon.

They definitely have the lore written down far down the line so doubt they could even change it by the time we see it. Maybe change some minor details if anything
I still would love to see a new NPC in the Tower called the LoreMaster voiced by Byf.
Given that Byf's high position as Lore Daddy in the community, I'm certain they at least check out his material.

I loved the last Expunge mission, it used the same lines as in the previous Expunge missions, but there was a much different tone to them... more desperate, more urgent... it was a nice touch!!

you know what was missing from the cutscene Crow. it would have been cool to see the Crow use his light super along with ikora see him pop a spectral blade or arc staff with Ikora. It feels odd to see a titan and a warlock but not a hunter be in the cutscene that saves the eliksnis and i felt that crow would of fit perfectly as he did help the house of light before
While i agree it would be cool to see him weilding light in a story moment proper,
I feel like it would have been better seeing him perched across the other side of Botza with a sniper. Play into the fact that he's trying to keep a low profile for the Vanguard's sake, but still can't bear to sit sidelined
I really wanted to see him show up with Zavala instead of Hawthorne, it would've been a lot better. Seeing the two of them show up and wreck some Vex would've been hella cool

I was really waiting for him and not Holliday tbh. I suppose he’s still off world with his new fireteam, but I was yelling at the TV (I’m on PS4) “Osiris! You’re breaking my heart!” And then “give me Crow!” Scared my baby niece, had to hold her during the cutscene.
Tbh yeah, recently i went on a rant about how the whole vanguard except cause showed up cause he’s dead, so why not have the “technical” hunter vanguard join in too with Amanda, that would make such a huge impact on story aight
I love how New Monarchy’s whole thing was that they wanted new leaders and they just decided “ya know what? We’ll go with Dead Orbit cus f the Traveller”

New Monarchy confused me this season. I was under the impression that in D1 their whole thing was to make Zavala king and vote to solve the Consensus. And when Ikora acted unilaterally in D2 they didn't like it.

not many people seem to be noticing that Ikora dropped two supers within 10 seconds of each other near the end of the cutscene.
There is only one explanation for this.
Ikora somehow has access to Dire Ahamkara Skull before it was nerfed. This is the only logical explanation.
Actually I was popping off an AWFUL lot of Chaos Reaches thanks to my 2 Thresh weapons. Plus they were masterworked..... I may have contributed there.

As a Warlock I can confirm the power of loving hatchlings does enable you to drop two supers when they are in danger.
Lets also not forget that as "Eliksni were forsaken by the Traveler", he almost did exactly the same to us with those precise circumstances. They should've build theyr own servitor warmind lmao
During an override in those last few weeks, I heard the voice line “You’re right. The light is the key to victory” or something along that path. The Traveler might be under siege again in Witch Queen if Savathûn tries to break free of light and dark
Ok Hear me out. Light and dark could be the two sides of the same coin. Like a single entity composed of both the Gardener and Winnower existed before time.
They had that argument, and Split into their current status. Polar opposites.
What if, Darkness and light cancel eachother out? Like you cannot use both the Light and Darkness exactly at the same time, you gotta switch them. Maybe Savathun intends to use the light to cancel out the Darkness of her own worm, a reaction of Matter and antimatter causing the annihilation of the worm?

Me and my Brother have a theory that Savathun is going to take the traveller away from us, not "Take" it, but possibly try and sever our connection to it and try to corrupt us with some new power.

This whole season was just an excuse for a Saint/Mithrax buddy cop movie and I'm okay with that.
Ikora is broken and I'm calling for a nerf. You can't nova bomb, hot swap to warp, and just have super!
To be fair, Saint probably has his gun masterworked...so there were enough orbs of power on the ground.

This might sound twisted, but when I heard Lakshmi die, I was like good riddance. I'm fine living without the factions. Also I loved seeing Saint-14, Zavala, Amanda, and Ikora fighting to save Humans and Eliksni both. It shows that peace between both is possible.

Honestly you shouldn’t feel bad cause she caused this major problem so she can sate her xenophobic beliefs and her need to be the sole leader of the last city
Twisted? Nah. Lakshimi deserved what she got for being such an unrepentant bigot. I wanted the chance to end her myself.
To be perfectly honest, I would have loved to use one of my weapons (Except Ace of Spades) on Lakshmi, but for her to die at the hands of the Vex through the portal she created without knowing is satisfying. Some say there are fates worst than death, but for Lakshmi, nothing is more worse than dying by your own hands unintentionally.
You’re not the only one who felt that way about Lakshmi. Entire groups would stop and t-bag her before actually starting the activity.
Thank you Bungie, you did what we could not (kill Lakshmi).
Lakshmi-2 was an amazing season villain ( if you can even call her that ) Damn the writing was so good for her. Sad to see her go but damn glad we had her!

I heard a voice line from Saint in the hanger as I was completing the quest that really didn't age well: "It may have taken years, but Osiris seems to be rebuilding his reputation here"
There's a small theory that Savathun can revive or has Sagira hostage. That explains Osiris being more sus than the color red. I explained another theory in the comments, so pair the two together and they kind of hold water.
Ikoras always has a super or 2 sitting there ready to pop even when in the city she’s O.P

The moment I heard Lakshmi's broadcast I thought "YOU BLOODLY FOOL!!!"
And then you and five other Guardians stepped on her corpse on the way to closing the breach.

I just thought "oh no... ghost, call the ship call the ship CALL THE SHIP!!"
That last mission made got me all worked up. Nothing like finally getting to play my Defender Titan, defending the Last City. Seemed like everyone was giving it all to beat the Vex

I have a new Theory on what will happen next season. So it starts with us having been looking for Osiris for a few days when Petra or another awoken tells us that he has been spotted in the dreaming city. And while there Mara comes back. And we get a new awoken section in the helm. That’s my theory on how season 15 will start.

When I loaded into the mission, a guy on my team ran over and started t bagging Lakshmi. I was laughing so hard
My fear of there being Vex in the last city is that all it would take is 1 stray minotaur skulking about in the sewers of the Botza District, tinkering away, making portals ready for round 2. May never be a full extermination if it's rooted deep enough
Fun fact. Lakshmi just pulled an Eramis move (which btw, she actually accused of Mithrax when she blamed him for her visions) and the Eliksni city in Europa is constantly being swarmed by Vex ever since she activated the portal. Hopefully the same doesnt happen to Botza

It always had a story, it's just its delivery was poorly executed. I still feel that some of the characters like Elsie Bray/the Exo Stranger should have a tie-in novel like Fall of Reach.
The first game had a website where you could view lore, but was not very accessible. Now, in the second game, the narrative, characters and many side stories, are at the fore front, being more immersive. While the lore is much more accessible for players/fans through the games lore tabs menu, the Ishtar collective website. Overall, it’s a great improvement.
It feels a bit like Dead Orbit was like: whelp...they gonna think we were also on this too...
Crazy Thought here, but what if Savathun recognizes that the paracausual force guiding the Guardian isn't the light, but us as the player?
It's been interesting to see this story grow over the years since beginning of D2, and a couple of things stand out. Truth to Power and the whole Idea of Truth. I used to think truth was a darkness thing, but instead, it offers "Salvation". Witch Queens tagline, however, is "Survive the Truth". For a Hive God of Cunning and lies, a lot of her brand seems to revolve around "Truth".
Then there's Soloing the shattered throne at 999 power level, which is in truth to power as well(?) Why that condition specifically? Why does that mean anything in an in-universe lore entry, when there hasn't been a quantifiable power measurement system introduced in-universe? Like in game sure, but thats more of a gameplay thing than story thing. Then after that was completed, a single cryptic *tweet*, and nothing tangible in game.
Then Caitil has the ability to access the Destiny twitter account to speak to us?
Then theres Savathuns Viral Chant in the menu screen of shadowkeep, after which, its being spread to characters in game that we have had contact with. I know there's lore book about it being introduced into the city by a binary form, but i think that was After shaxx sang the its made of cheese thing.
So what if Savathun, a hive god of tricks and lies, is trying to turn the player into an instrument of the city's demise?
This feels cohesive, especially considering the tentative title of the last known expansion, Lightfall.
Considering half the fanbase is on board with just abandoning the Traveler, I'd say that wouldn't be too hard.
Unless im misremembering, wasnt there also a loretab somewhere where Riven refers to us as "Oh player, mine?"
Hello! Your video and audio quality was great! I think there was a slight echo at one point but if you just moved in, simply putting stuff in the room where you record will help. I noticed a new sound in the tower after I completed the epilogue, I don’t know if it was there before because I was too interested in the story lol. If you have any insight on that new sound that would be great. If not, have a great day!

i mean the fact they haven't brought them back before this season should've been a big enough hint. not to mention how toxic the community gets around these events (not just faction rallies but practically every event like it) just makes me glad they never tried again. this community is great, it has its shining light but it also casts the deepest shadow.

I feel like Osiris isn’t actually involved with Savathûn at all and he has seen the future where we win, either against Savathûn or some victory beyond her, and doing what he needs to in order to see it come to fruition. After all having the vex invade was the nail in the coffin for removing the factions and unifying the humans and eliksni.
That would be a really good twist tbh
Imagine if Savathûn is actually Saint, an Osiris was seeing what would she do under pressure. That would be a damn twist
@@danieldodet1667 As crazy as your theory sounds, it makes sense. I feel like bungie is purposely making Osiris look sus to have a huge plot twist. I feel like it would be very boring to have Osiris be savathun. I also wouldn’t like to see Saint be her either. I guess we will see what bungie has hidden up their sleeves.
I'm starting to think that maybe Osiris is pulling a Doctor Strange move in Infinity War/Endgame. In order to bring about a future where humanity wins, he needs to willingly do things that go against all logic to bring us to that future. This is a hard if but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the case.

I was so happy to see Amanda out there with Chaperone but concerned at the same time. I remember hints that we would lose a favorite character and then her dialogue while flying us into Battlegrounds talking about how dangerous it was.
I thought the finale was very interesting and am looking forward to the next story

Yeah every time we had to go shoot the red glowing things, I'd run over and tea bag Lakshmi's body. It was great.
“One of the most serious incursions into the city.” Oh yknow, there was also a literal *walking nuke* in the Botza District at one time. Nothing serious, really.
I full on ugly cried happy tears when Saint yelled "you are my people". And then again when he said House Light was under his protection. THAT is character development, THAT is how you show growth and redemption. That moment will stick with me forever
Can't wait for Saint to be revealed as savathuns puppet. Notice how he didn't pop a bubble, which he is all too known for? I think Osiris backed off to see what savathun would do under pressure, and he stood back to witness what happened to affirm his thoughts. Could be entirely wrong, but it all seems a bit convenient for me
I have never speedrunned an activity so fast. It just felt so importnat to save all the cute crawlies
Listen to Ikoras vocals in the last transmission “the light provides.” I would also mention that banishment of the factions doesn’t seem like a good idea since a majority of guardians vaults a jammed packed full of guns that were procured from the factions. I would venture a guess that the next expansion will have us questing for either old allies or new ones to fill the fresh void.

Theory presented by Stickymz on TikTok: Sagira isn’t dead, Osiris is being forced to work for someone under threat of Sagira’s death, and Savathun is actually Eva Lavante. Lore entries have suggested Savathun is an old lady that likes hot drinks. Eva is old, loves tea, and is one of the most non-threatening NPCs that would be the last suspect. Plausible I think.
Literally have never been more motivated to hear Ikora say “The Light Provides”. That hit me straight to my core!
I don’t think he’s being “controlled” rather made a deal. She may just be communicating her plans with Osiris. But this shit is getting interesting af.

Do you really think Osiris would make a deal with a Hive God? There’s no way in hell that he’d do that. Osiris has always worked the hardest to try to prevent the Darkness from conquering our system. To the point that it got him exiled. And even then when he had every right to say “screw those ungrateful people” he devoted centuries of his life in a vex prediction engine to ensure that we were ready for any threat. In my opinion what’s more likely is that from the moment we met up with Osiris again in the Season of the Hunt. We were dealing with Savathûn. Think about it. Why after we rescued him did he just sit in a dark corner of the tower out of sight out of mind, and was unable to even communicate with us? No its more likely Osiris is trapped in the Ascendant Realm or some other hive netherworld within the Savathûn’s Singularity being held captive and having his mind peeled apart for information. What we saw for the last 3 seasons is a simple facsimile. An illusion. Just like she used when she interacted with Nokris during Season of Arrivals.
@@osiristheexile5457 while I agree with you one hole in your theory is that savathun may be a hive God but she is not allied with the darkness. She hates the darkness and the sword logic it created that rules her people.

I think the Factions leaving could possibly set up a return for Lysander and the Concordat too - maybe they try and overthrow the Vanguard with the help of the now-fleeing factions?
With Bungie putting a whole bunch of content into the vault and effectively getting rid of the factions o seriously doubt we get any more Last City politics.
Last season and this season has been exceptional in regards to storytelling. Now Regarding Osiris, I think he has been MIA since season of the hunt (I think that’s the name) it wasn’t Osiris that Crow saved but a clever tactic Savathün used to get into the last city by disguising herself as him.
He also could be KIA and Savathün possessed his body

My theory: Savanthûn’s End Game, and entire purpose for The Endless Night was to UNITE House of Light, and the Vanguard. NOT to destroy them. Why you ask? To later coerce them into an alliance with HER against The Darkness. The enemy of my enemy…
Despite not believing the leaks, I do think Savathun is gonna be more integral of a character that most of the “big bads” when we finally meet her.
Would make sense, bring the stories of the gardener and the winnower to an end and let a new era begin
Since we know Savvy isn’t the raid boss for Witch Queen, that could make sense.

I’m really hoping for this, that Lightfall is about all of the Sol system fighting the Darkness. We got Cabal and Eliksni, why not Hive and Taken! I have no idea how the Vex can fit but bring them too!

I’d like to see the ramifications of Saint acknowledging Mithrax as the Kell of Kells and the impact on fallen society
Excellent wrap up... so here's some speculation. The factions will regroup at some point, possibly even with the first of the banished factions The Concordat, become a power, possibly through the use of stasis and thus attract its share of "dark guardians" to fight for them thus creating the yang to our ying. Taking it further... Savathun redeems herself somehow with our help and becomes our ex-hive connection, Xivu Arath will team up with the new factions and possibly house salvation if Eris thaws out. In the end we'll wind up with a Caiatl/Mithrax/Savathun coalition in the Light vs Eramis/Factions/Xivu Arath/ex Red Legion or corrupted Calus darkness coalition.
Saint's journey this season reminds me a lot of Captain Kirk's in Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country.
Yo byf, I remember you said this about the witch queen, “unless the darkness put us in an area and tell us to fight, I don’t think we will kill the witch queen” well I mean, the darkness has marked her for death for he actions during arrivals so I think that you are right there and we will see an end to the witch queen, the only question is Ikora, she said she would “dive a spear of light through the witch queen [her]self” but does she mean savathun… or Osiris
When it comes to Osiris I would like to remind everyone of where we have seen this before. The fall of Torobatl. One of Caiatl's closest allies was corrupted by Savathun and turned against the Cabal. I think the same is happening with Osiris.

This season's finale was intense. Didn't expect.
Flying into the city with other Guardians made me feel like I was going in with a whole team to save our friends. Was great atmosphere. Top notch.

The timing of Unveiled playing in the helm during Lakshmi's message was perfect.
As far as osiris goes, when we were first introduced to osiris, he ALREADY acted like that. He watches and studies, attacks when he truly believes he is needed. He’s always had his own agenda.
What you’re clearly missing is that Osiris always wanted humanity to survive, he wanted to focus on the Vex because they are a huge threat, he’d never purposely put the survival of humanity at risk by basically opening a portal that initiates a massive Vex Incursion onto the city.
@@DetectiveWarden Also, in the face of possibly being killed, Osiris wouldn't let Saint-14 fight alone considering he nearly broke the space time continuum to bring Saint back...you know...because they're lovers.

@@DetectiveWarden your also forgetting he was already banned from the city for having contradicting thoughts about the traveler. Speaker feared him, banished him, and osiris agreed and left to the infinite forest. HE LEFT THE CITY TO GO STRAIGHT INTO VEX TERRITORY. his reaction to this attack seems more like pure curiousity. He’s the nerdy scientist you see in movies, that’s always asking “why” and then seeking to understand no matter the cost to those around him.
