Great progress. I haven't squatted 200kg yet but I think I could go for it very soon as I squatted 140 kg for 17 straight reps 2 weeks ago. Maybe in 1 month I will try to go for 200 kg :)
Congrats, I've been chasing this goal for 8 years! What was your programming like to go from 160 to 200? Closest I got was 178kg about 6 years ago but multiple injuries have kept me under 160-170 this whole time and now I'm back at novice 135kg 5x5 with mostly no pain. Trying my hardest to not make the same mistakes again, but I worry I'm too old to get there these days.
Ty dude, The main thing is a progression on my 5x5. I usually did one or two days 5x5 each week followed by some volume work if I felt like it. If I hit a plateau I would change it up for a period of either volume work 8-10 reps or 3x3 or 5x3. I will post a more thorough video later this week. U will get there mate 😎Injuries are a real pain in the ass, but don't give up
@@ErlendLifts More or less what I did. I followed various block periodization programs so 4 weeks with any given rep range. I tore my quadricep the week after doing 140kg 4x8 lol, and got tendinopathy after reaching 145kg x 8 three years later (this year), so I am trying my best to avoid high reps now. Guess I should just go by feel and not necessarily what is written in the program.
Yo, I really like 5x5 2-3 times a week, followed by 1-3 sets of some easier work for 8-20 reps if there is some juice left. Just try 2 increase the weight every session/week by 2.5-5kg/5-10lbs. In the start (after a month or so), I did Upper/Lower/Pause/Upper/Lower and so on. Now I do pull/push/legs/pause. I will post a video with more details in a few days.
If u can do 80x8 but 90x1, it sounds like you either not used to heavy loads, so I would try to train heavier low rep ranges 1-5, or u have a week point that can't handle higher loads. Where in the movement do you fail?
Going from 65% 5 sets of 100 kg to 95% One per max of 200 kg. What is the bodyweight? If it was 80 kg in the beginning and 90 kg st the end It's a bit different story.
50-60kg jump in 2 months.. I think even with the best programming/training methods this wouldn't be attainable unless you was to gain over 10-15kg lean muscle mass.. On the contrary great work 🤝🏼
Really good job! Really inspiring too. Can I ask what was your lifetime squat pr before starting this training? Cause it couldnt have been 130kg since you were already doing 155kg 3x3 2 months after starting the training. Btw my squat is 155kg and Im working towards 170-180. Hoping to hit it at the end of November.
Thanks bro 😎My all time pr before this was 170kg (at 18 years old) 10 years ago, then I injured my shoulder quite bad, and my training has been quite the mess since lol. But now I am kinda back on the grind, max at the start of this block was around 130kg (I did next to 0 training for over a half year). Let's hope u hit that 180 💪
@@ErlendLifts oh my bad I assumed that the injury you described in the description occurred before the squat transformation. Were you saying you got injured in the midst of this squat transformation? That's crazy lol. Anyways to rephrase my question: How much did you squat before you took time away from the gym?
@@pizzaboss3324 No worries 😎 yes I had a small hamstring strain from sprinting in may, and a fractured/brusied rib in June and July. My best before this was 170kg, but that was 10 years ago, when I was 18.
@@ErlendLifts Nice. Yea I was just asking because the transformation is just so much that I figured it had to either be muscle memory, a severe bulk, or roids. And I was just like: "he looks natty and he doesn't look fat so..." and then I figured you just had to have had some serious muscle memory gains on your side at that point. Not that it takes away from the impressiveness of the transformation though. If anything the muscle memory aspect makes the transformation more impressive because it lets the audience know that there was a lot more work put into this transformation than just the 8 months shown that we just don't know about. Keep working hard 💪 500 lb squat when?
@@pizzaboss3324 yhea, hard to know/tell all the details. I am working on hitting 220 Kg by the end of the year, so that's 485. So hopefully pretty soon after that 💪
I will make a video in a few days with what I did. But as I said to Steffen I did mostly 5x5 2-3 times a week and tried to increase the weight every session. If I hit a plateau I took some extra rest or switched to 3x3 or higher volume 8-12 reps for some weeks. Accessories: some leg press if quads felt underworked, hamstring leg curls, and some other stuff here and there.
@@ErlendLiftsso your main focus was legs, im guessing lower body 2-3times a week and rest upper body? was the overall volume high or just enough for upper body and mainly focusing on lower?

@@ErlendLifts cool, waiting for it, i have been doing bro split for a while, amazing hypertrophic results, but not so much on the strength side, so i was thinking to start some powerlifting splitting for 2-3mnths now
And you managed to gain >4 lbs of muscle per month, and add ~5lbs of weight per week just by doing 5x5s + accessories? Yeah, that's mega sus. You either have absolutely amazing genetics and can become one of the world's best powerlifters/weightlifters with proper training, or you're taking gear.
I will take that as a compliment, I am not on any drugs, only creatine. It's probably a decent amount of fat as well in the gain. I've lifted here and there before, but usually, I stop/injure myself after 3-4 months. This is the first time I've managed to stay consistent with lifting for so long. I also played football/soccer for 13 years and I've done other activities as well.
I don’t think that’s sus, there’s natural lifters both stronger and smaller than him. If you hyper focus on squatting, you’ll get better at squatting. His gains don’t have much to do with that. Plus with how complex the balancing and posture, as well as breathing and bracing can be for squatting; he could likely do much more at the beginning, but didn’t have the experience with the lift yet.
Not roids, but I was not a complete beginner, see other comments. But I gained a lot in the start fast because of old muscle memory, but I hadn't trained for a long while before this block.
A bit hard to answer, because I've taken long breaks and done a lot of different stuff over the years, but going to the gym consistently since this February
Ага. За 8 месяцев так накачал мышцы кушая куриную грудку и салат. Сразу бы написал список химии и сколько курсов за этот период употребил. А икроножные мышцы нулевые при этом.
