- As of right now, the new Traxxas TRX-4 appears to be the biggest release of 2017. Traxxas, a company known worldwide for producing some of the most exciting and easy to use ready to run RC vehicles has entered a new segment in RC with the announcement of the TRX-4. Typically Traxxas has been known for action packed machines that jump high and rip across terrain at quick speeds. Now they’ve slowed down a bit and are hitting the trails with an amazing scale and trail crawler. The TRX-4 is an all new design for Traxxas and they went all out for this release by including a ton of features that has brought this RTR trail truck to an all new level. This rig has locking differentials, shifting high/low transmission, strong steel frame, heavy duty suspension links, grippy tires and it’s topped off with a licensed Land Rover Defender body. Drivers are already hitting the terrain with the TRX-4 and we just took a look at ours on the workbench for the RC Driver Unboxing video. wow, I don't know what R/C kits look like these days, but compared to the Lunch Box I got in the 80's, this Traxxas is amazing. Ball bearings, metal parts, metal chasis, great steering links. The 80's kits were a big box of brittle plastic sadness the day after Christmas when half the car was cracked and broken.

Would have been better if it had a "Hard Body",although that's probably something Traxxas will never do.I do however like how Traxxas engineered the motor and transfer case to sit lower in the frame to give more clearance for a Hard body with a full interior.

This RC cars is FIRE, I was thinking about getting this because I saw it on Traxxas's website and than I saw the price of $467!! (Still gunna get it tho LOL)

Really a nice car. Traxxas did a really good job with it and then take off the 90% of the fun doing it a RTR instead a Kit. I wish to buy it but it will be only when it comes as a kit to be assembled. Traxxas need to learn when it is about scale trucks the client is more specific and the assembly is a big part of the pleasure of this.

I’m planning on buying the RC FOX RAPTOR. I have a question as I am new to RC vehicles. Can I buy the raptor with the brushless VXL package already on it , or do I by the base model and the upgrade it ? Any input would be greatly appreciated

I'm thinking one of those would be great for a started RC for my 4yr old. because my slash is just to fast. can you run these on grass without heating concerns?
just get to the slash`s esc and put it on training mode for 50% speed because the trx4 is PRICEY VERY pricey but yes it runs on grass really well because it a trail truck making powerful but slow

I don't know. $500 seems like a lot. Well, an awful lot. I've had my Stampede since it came out and I've never had an issue with it Cipher braking turnbuckles it's still going strong. And I dont RC enough to Warrant spending $500 I just take my Stampede out occasionally and have a blast!
Tim Sullivan you absolutely get what you pay for though, just like the stampede. I've beat on this thing more than any others and that's because I've never had to replace anything on it unlike my axials

Nice review. No doubt traxxas have moved things along releasing the trx4. It's got some great features. I agree about the black window stickers. Left clear would have looked so much better so you can do an interior.

So the batery and the charger are the only thing to buy when it's delivered?
Personally i think traxxas might be the best for the prices because i have a traxxas 4x4 vxl brushless rustler that tops out at 70 mph and i can see that it’s pretty good for racing the body is tough and strong the wheels are great for racing so if you read this comment don’t get a super cheap fast car because not all body’s of cars are strong so get a traxxas because you can repair it and it can have different Color body’s more battery selection you also can raise the suspension and the vehicle i have cost around 250$ to 400$ but its worth it!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the xl-5 esc could handle up to like 9.5 volts . So how can you run a 3s lipo?

It's a different xl5 then say a Slash or ruslter I have both systems and the Trx4 xl5 has a heatsink on it that the other doesn't and it says 3s right on it and I run mine on the big 3s batteries all day with no problems

You mentioned that the transmitter has the TQI already in it. Partially true: you still have to buy the bluetooth module to use the app.
Forgot to mention I got the 1st TRX4 sold at my hobby shop and I love it!!! My wife has an Axial Wraith and I built a crawler course out back. We have a blast. When the kids want to drive it I don't worry because its built extremely sturdy. I have several Traxxaa RCs, but this is becoming my favorite
I was pricing the Traxxas 4x4 defender. Currently it's about $449, ok, make it an even $500. You don't get a battery or charger so that adds another $100. I guess it's like buy a full scale truck and the battery and engine are extra.

Yup . my old AX10 hauls my slash around and then my slash rips around , and then my ax10 hauls it back to camp.

This truck seem very top heavy, I have watched alot of video on TH-cam and this traxxas always flips a lot more then other brands. maybe its the body.
