I guarantee the overseas clones don't have the QC of a real Microtech, nor as good of heat treatment. Also, very few production manufacturers can get such a thin grind behind the edge and sharpen by hand their blades like the Microtech Techs do. I actually like the proprietary hardware. You're paying for quality and something crafted in-house USA made. It's worth it.
Just got my new Dirac Delta, (08/2022 on the clip). It’s got the bronze apoc finish on a M390 blade, bronzed hardware, and a black chassis. One edge is fully serrated, and the other is plain edged. It checks all the boxes for my preferred options on this model. LOVE this knife; it’s my favorite Microtech design, by far! 🤠

400 is actually on the low end of some of their knives. I've seen some over a thousand. Nothing wrong with having safe queens, dont listen to the haters. There's a reason for the term "safe queen".

Microtech uses one of three super steels Bohler M390 Elmax Carpenter CTS 204p As of today they are mostly running M390 this time last year was mainly 204p In 2019 the first ultratechs used Elmax The 204p is an American steel they are all powder metallurgy with all three basically exact same qualities of strength edge retention and so on. Of all my microtechs my 204p seems to be the sharpest right out of the box but they are different sizes and blade styles which will affect the sharpness. A dual edge dagger can’t get as sharp as a drop point due to the edge slant thickness and width.
Glass breaker is good to have incase if you're ever in a bad car wreck and end up in the drink or just can't open the doors..or if you're nearby a car wreck and need to help someone out of a vehicle etc. Most likely will never need to use one in a situation like those, but you never know.

Looks like there's a small knick on a DLC on the middle edge right out of the factory. :( It would be a dark dot on my joy from a new knife for me. It actually happened to me with my Ultratech. I sent it back to Microtech to fix it. For 400+ USD knife I expect perfection.
FYI, disassembly does NOT void warranty. I contacted Microtech directly some months back and they said that was a rumor circulating TH-cam and that is wasn’t true.
That's interesting. Here's a quote from the owners manual under the warranty section... "Microtech will NOT warranty products due to loss or damage caused by abuse, neglect, misuse, accident, improper blade sharpening or DISASSEMBLY." Not my words, theirs.

I’ve been carrying a CRKT “TACO SPIDER”. It’s thin and tough. But, I love OTF autos. I have one Microtech Ultratech with bright violet handle. That one is for the collection. My next is going to be black and carried. Automatics can save your life if you suffer a hand injury to one or both hands and need to deploy a knife without having to manipulate a traditional blade.

Buy the best microtech clone you can find to compare to the real they may look the same but when you hold them both you will see the difference one is a toy other is a tool. Like a co2 glock compared to a real glock u can feel the difference

I look at it as an investment or as I said in the video , a toy to play with. I wanted a high quality American made auto knife and this is what I come up with. I probably have about 50 other knives that I don't "use" either, just like collecting them.

Avoid tape cutting with any OTF knife. The tape residue will accumulate on the blade and gum up the tracks it runs on when retracted into the handle

It's an otf not a switch blade because this knife uses the little lever and not a button and otf stands for out the front
