Yes sir, a 1989 daily driven since 1988. 437,000 miles on the clock! Lots of fluid film treatment to keep it from rusting. Keeps going and going and going.
I had this thing. My dad bought it brand new in 1997, gave it to me when I started college in 2009. Ran great, never gave any issues, was at about 250,000 miles. I gave it to my mom when her car died and I wanted to buy my own car. She ended up donating it to her church and it's apparently still running strong somewhere down in Mexico.
I have a 97 limited with 332k. Just getting her reupholstered this week- new headliner, carpet, front seats. I’m adding sheepskin too. I will say with certainty that these age sooo well.
Looks nice... I have a 98' Limited, just clocked 165K, except for a gel-coat paint problem on the hood, it's a great truck... The interior components and materials have held up nicely... Mechanically, simply fantastic... The 3rd-gen 4runners are the best in my opinion, though I'm bias for sure, I pretty much love everything about it... Thx, Moses...
I used to drive one of these so thank you for the trip down memory lane. Mine got really bouncy in its later years but never a mechanical issue. Did yours get more bouncy as it got older?
Cool, man. I'm looking at buying one of these, I've always liked the look and am looking for a reliable SUV for offroading and camping. Glad to hear yours has held up so well! A few questions... how do you find the comfort on long trips, and what kind of gas mileage do you get? Thanks!
Michael Smith re: comfort -> it is body on frame so there is a higher center of gravity. If you don’t drive this type of vehicle it takes some getting g used to but I went on a 500 mile trip and it was fun. Probably getting around 17-18 mpg at the time of this video.
Willabee you went from the most reliable vehicle to the worst. 4runners are more fun to drive they are a true SUV body on frame. Not a unibody like a bmw.
I bought a 1997 a year ago, and my leather looked exactly like that when I got. I pain $4,000. 2 wheel drive. sunroof doesn't work. what 169,000 miles.
You've got potato chip crumbs on the middle console. Clean the fucking thing before you start talking about the beautiful leather! Other than that, good looking suv.
plsniper Funny 😄 We made the video before we got in the car to trade it in. They said don’t bother cleaning it since it was going to the auction anyway.
Anyone have one older than 20 years on the road?
Willabee yeah buddy. 98 that just crossed 310k... and the engine still just purrs!
My dad has an 88 and still running. And we just bought the newest one. The best vehicle if you take care of it
I've got a 97 SR5 with 370,000 miles!
I've got a 1994 blue with 207 miles. I live in Brazil.

I just bought my first car... a 1997 limited 4 runner. It’s a great suv and still runs like brand new.

Dope story!
I love my 97 4Runner limited. Have had it for 13 years and it has never quit on me.

How much did you paid for that?
Ed meneses I paid about 1500 to a local shop in Denver
JB Cool thanks I think that’s a good price, I don’t know if I can find a place where I can pay anything near that price in Utah
@@edbenandanti6902 If you ever make it to Denver, hit up Rema Upholstery-- (720) 763-1978 Really down to earth dude.

No. It was almost all city driving though. 🤷🏾♂️

Legend has it, it’s still going strong...hope you kept it but if you did trade, hope you traded for another 4Runner
BMW SUV. We’re all about evolution over here.
BMW’s are pricey to maintain and repair
True, but it is a lot more fun to drive! Thank you God for the blessing.

Funny, I recorded that video on the way to selling it. Maybe you ended up with it. My sunroof worked though. :-)
Go George Mason!
🙌🏾🥃
I need a new water pump and gaskets 😫
Me too. I am curious about what happened. What was your mileage? Do you know why?
Love the car, want to do something about it.
06 with 220K miles right now
Wear and tear I think I already did the gaskets
