How an Arthritis-Suffering Grandma Became Call of Duty's Deadliest Aimbot

  • The word “gamer” can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people.
    You’ve got your bloodthirsty but efficient killing machines. There’s your out of control, rage-filled tryhards. The soft-spoken, mechanically gifted psychopaths. And, of course, the clueless noobs who always seem to end up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
    But to most people, a gamer is a basement-dweller who spends hours each day playing video games, brags about how many virtual scalps they’ve collected, and has a gaming channel to share their exploits with the world.
    And, in that sense, Michelle “Tactical Gramma” Statham, is a pretty typical gamer.
    But, as you may have guessed from the name, Call of Duty's aged aimbot is anything but typical.

      Why is surprising? I'm 37 and have better aim than most zoomers cos I've been playing FPS since the original Quake. Fps was much more fast-paced back then as well. My reaction times have gone up a bit but I can out-aim most zoomers just because I have way more hours on FPS games in my lifetime than they have.

Side note, I love to see people on the older side perform and would love to see what cognitive benefits games have when you play for so long. A lot of people don’t realize that if you take decent care of your mind and body, it’s been shown that you can keep a fairly high level of performance until your 60s and even 70s before you get significant developmental drop off. I too hope to keep clicking heads, comboing spacies and microing vultures when I’m that age.

      Can't deny that it's good to have some content but back to the point. Game is supposedly to bring fun. Ofc if it's an online competitive you should use some skills, but even making a great WTF moments, funny gameplay, or just silly moments still way more enjoyable than pros popping headshots, ranting about meta and complaining about stream snipers. It's cool and all, it's still somewhat important, but it doesn't matter if you didn't enjoyed the game.

    I've never understood the Ageism in gaming.
    I'm 42. I was around for Commodore and Atari. Our ENTIRE LIVES have been spent Gaming. We've been Gaming longer than some people who say we can't game have been breathing.
    How do you think Gaming has gotten to where it is today? Because we brought it to this point.
    So we're glad you're enjoying it and having fun. We're glad you can now go out and have a Career playing your favorite game professionally, or for an audience. That's amazing.
    But don't forget who brought it to this point. We game, baby. We STILL game. We gamed before your parent bumped uglies to have you. We'll be gaming all the way to the grave.
    Because we're Gamers. It's what we do.

  • @KindOldRaven
    @KindOldRaven 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Y'know it's funny but your average 50+ year old won't be that much better or worse than your average 20 year old *if* they both actually practised the same amount. It's not until you get to high-level play and pro level play that age-related things really start to matter (even in videogames). The whole idea that ''old people can't game competitively'' stems from the fact that most old people don't have a history in (competitive) gaming (and thus 0 experience) and don't pick up things as quickly as yungins, plus gaming pros stop in their twenties (a few early 30ers here and there).
    But the latter's usually because they got sick of the scene/game, got injured, or had kids or started chasing another carreer or whatever and the second that happens you can't put in the hours and hours and hours of practice kids can put in these days. And the current gen of 50 year olds didn't exactly have gaming PCs or even reliable internet back when they were 20 ;p So yes, we're actually going to see the first generation of oldtimers who are still (actively) gaming. Even though many of that generation have '''given up'' on the hobby as it wasn't exactly something that ''real adults'' tended to do. "Wtf John, you still play videogames? Grow up already."
