Moushley exists because someone asked, "what if one day Ashley was just a small mouse?". Someone then drew her as a mouse with a design people liked. That turned into people drawing goofy scenarios involving Leon escorting a cartoon mouse through the games situations, and then the greater internet saw it and cast their usual horny spell.

It was unavoidable from what I hear, though. As in, part of a scripted intro in the first few minutes of the game. It features in an outside xbox video(iirc - or one of their channels, at least), that's how I heard of it.
The fact that it is unavoidable would be a great source of annoyance.
@@inquisitorpig5760 i think it had to occur during gameplay to get the achievement, the real one is do you risk getting the achievement to 100% or do you for go 100% to avoid non existant shame. Old 360 games had some annoying anti achievements, some are impossible to get due to systems at work in the game, some of which are missable for life unless you have an old blade 360, where you could jerry rig some of them to work after missing them

My biggest gripe with the remake is the removal of "No thanks, bro". Easily one of the best lines ever uttered in Resident Evil history.
This is what I don't get. The game doesn't need less corny one-liners, it needs more. They're perfect in that different people react to them differently, all the way from cool to funny and cringe, and that gives the game *a lot* of individual charm.

The interactions and banter between Leon and the villains in general is worse in the remake (not to mention the complete absence of the radio chatter). A lot of iconic, memorable stuff was either outright removed or lessened.

I feel like the only reason capcom was so aggressive about that nude mod take down is because the person they used to model Ashly is actually quite active on the internet and has been super engaging with the RE community. It's probably up there with the controversy with heavy rain and the nipple leak on Eliot page's model.

We've now reached a point where people are arguing on twitter when they don't know what satire is, how to use google, or how quotation marks work. Truly an insane era of the internet...
it's mostly because thanks to satire a lot of things have been ruined including satire (can't have comedy without someone getting offended these days). So when ever people zee the slightest induction of censorship and or someone protecting it they go off the walls because they know what comes next.

Am i like the only one who didnt like the original cause it wasnt a full horror game ? It also contributed to RE 5 getting made and we all know that was ass. RE 4 was ass to me, it was barely a resident evil game cause there was no balance to cheese and horror. Hell, there barely any horror it was a full ass action game with some zombies and monsters

So apps like Twitter, instagram, or tik tok that pretty much are constantly fishing for your attention and have the second half of the content be the comment section isn’t a healthy environment. While on TH-cam you can find a video to watch for 20-60 minutes and the comments aren’t a big part of the entertainment value. Social media is supposed to make you, well socialize. TH-cam though, you can choose not to be social and still be entertained unlike tik tok or Instagram (especially Twitter). So technically TH-cam could be a source of social media but you can still be entertained by TH-cam without social interaction making it just media in general.

My biggest censoring gripe with the recent re4 rereleases (VR and remake) is the removal of the female villager pinned to the wall in the early game. It gave a sense of weight and made you feel like the village is a truly dangerous place

I personally do not think looking up the skirts of characters is very important. THAT BEING SAID: Ashley and Jill have some really, really dumb looking skirts because they're some weird combo of Skirt+Short, but they're not really skorts. They're a skirt in the front for marketing material, but then shorts in the back so you can't look up them. It actually makes no sense from a design perspective.
Either keep the skirts and make them actually skirts, or just give them shorts. Don't make some weird front-skirt back-shorts. It is like the female equivalent of a mullet or something lmao.

I worked in retail for a few years and the womens short/skirt combo wasnt totally uncommon - it came with a trend when women wanted clothing to become a little more utility focused, like with dresses having pockets and jeans to have bigger pockets etc etc

There's actually a nod to the skirt looking. If you try to do it in the remake, the Ashley will cover her skirt-shorts with her hands and then look DIRECTLY into the player's camera. I thought it was pretty cool.

Ada is a confident woman that knows how to get what she wants. She uses sexuality and feminine wiles to get it, and it works. She said something to the extent of “we need to get rid of the woman of the East,” or something like that, to desexualize the Asian woman, and to an extent I agree. However, Ada as a character USES that trope to her advantage.
A real secret agent that works in the shadows like she does wouldn’t have scruples about her race; if she could use it as an asset, she will.
She had an interpretation of the character, and it would work for another character, just not Ada.

The old lines and easter eggs were harmless. The removal of them was harmless. Removing silly stuff in a game that is clearly trying to be more serious than the original just makes sense. Preferring the silly horniness from the OG doesn't make you a jerk. preferring the less horny remake doesn't make you woke. It isn't that difficult people.

I know I'm late here, but I think the biggest point most are missing isn't censorship or cultural changes, but rather a pretty drastic tonal shift.
Resident Evil essentially rebooted itself with RE7, establishing a more grounded and serious tone, opting to refocus on the horror elements of the series while minimizing the camp and action that had come to define the series.
This carried over to the Remakes, where Remake 2 and 3 have a decidedly more serious tone than their originals. Sure, Leon may give off a one liner here or there, but there was a concerted effort to highlight the grim and gritty nature of these horrific scenarios, and that didn't leave much room for the camp we were used to.
Needless to say, Remake 4 continues the tone established in the previous two Remake titles, opting to focus more on horror than anything else. It's not just secks appeal. Look at Saddler and Salazar. Nearly everything that made them fun and memorable in the OG is gone.
I don't think this is censorship. I don't think this was appealing to modern cultural norms. They didn't go "woke" or "prude".This was the vision established with RE7. A renewed focus on the darker, more horror filled aspects of the series, shifting away from the elements they let get out of hand. This was a concerted effort to redefine the tone of Resident Evil going forward. And what that means is less panties and one liners.
People got it twisted! Fans don't "WANT" to look up Ashelys skirt, they want the option! Holding our hand and telling us NO like they are our damn parent is infuriating. I remember I got Xenoblade Chronicles for the WiiU, and when I found out that they where censoring the US version because the 16 year old character has a bikini and it looks like a bikini?... Has anybody been to the beach lately? 14 year old girls are wearing swimsuits most wouldn't expect to see outside of porn.... Yet the cartoon 16 year old had to be covered up. Ugh yea I waited till the non censored European version dropped before I even played it.

The fact Capcom has filed takedowns for nude mods for Ashley but not for Leon, Lois or Krauser shows that Capcom's intentions are misguided at best, malicious at worse, and also invalidates every argument people made of "it doesn't matter that they censored cuz you can just mod the game."

Yeah there's other factors at play, like it's disingenuous at best to say it's intentional. These are mods were talking about. It's one mod getting removed out of several. It's not like a large number of mods are made. Depending on how popular the mod scene is there's usually like one or two versions of a concept for a game. Some games with popular modding scenes like fallout or Skyrim may have many takes of the same thing but those are very popular games to mod.

Well, gamers aren't the smartest consumers. Just look at how much money people spend on virtual clothes for virtual characters in a first person shooter lol. Or better yet look how much money EA makes selling the same madden game every year.
Because the line between coincidence and actual conspiracy has blurred. Twitter has screamed at all instances of cleavage in video games for over ten years now, and that ten years has also seen a decrease in sexy outfits. Skirts have become skorts, skorts have become long pants or dresses, and long pants/dresses have led to attire rivaling nun's habits. You used to be able to look up Ashley's skirt. You can't anymore. Nobody knows the true reason why, but they are going to get in your face about what they believe the true reason is. Whether it's all correlative or causative is anybody's guess, except it now has us jumping at every shadow we see. Meanwhile, the word "woke" has gone from a meme to appearing in the actual text of campaign promises, but everybody has their own subjective idea of what "woke" is supposed to mean. Which means more culture war fighting.
The bottom line is that social media was a mistake. We should have never left behind our Web 1.0 Geocities lairs.
What really infuriate me is people like hackman trying to push the idea that "wokeness" or "the woke agenda" isn't a thing, or even that it's a silly conspiracy theory for "the bad people" (as defined by the far left) which is obviously and factually wrong when you look at what's going on in the gaming industry for the past decade.

This isn't anything new. A lot of us saw this happening with the fan servicey Japanese games back in 2018 and said it was only a matter of time before it hit the triple A space. I like some fan service in my games depending on the context, but there has seemed to be an active push to remove any and all sexualization in gaming all around. You could say people take it to far sure, but I'm also not keen on companies censoring creative freedom.

It was Capcom's CHOICE to make adjustments to RE4. They weren't forced to "censor" anything.
Speaking on that, a lot of people complained about the lack of flirtatious dialogue in RE4 remake, which highlights how big and overreaching these changes are. It's like the 'workplace harassment' meme where when a hot guy says something it's cute, but when an ugly guy says the same thing he gets called in by HR. It's either people make no advances period, or they're degenerates that screw each other when the cameras are off. Even in real life you have women that complain about guys not approaching them or being apprehensive about making moves, because of this very fear of being labeled creepy or a sexual predator because of you're lack of dating game.

My biggest gripe with the REmake series is that it's taking itself TOO seriously
It has always taken itself seriously, but the funny parts came from some dialogue or ideas that haven't aged well. This is like Evil Dead scenario, where people act like original movie was suppose to be a horror-comedy, where it was straight up horror movie but funny things come from then inexperienced cast and crew, who were basically learning shit as they were filming.
@@njmfff well said but, no. Sam Raimi knew exactly what he was doing with Evil Dead and has even said so himself several times. They play the material at face value because that's where unintended humor can be found but, it's definitely a style and these creators are definitely doing it intentionally. RE4 is 100% a love letter to "B-Movie" style American media and that is completely by design. :)

Companies like Nethrealm are held to a certain standard due to them constructing an image of going against the norms of the industry back in the day and pushing the boundaries of what can be shown in games.
It's also the apparent double standard in gaming when it comes between sexual fanservice and gory fanservice. The "blood and boobs" debate.
Now folks are finding it hard to distinguish what is disingenuous censorship, or "woke", and what is just a general update in development in regards to remakes like RE 4 Remake.
RE 4 Remake took a lot of the cheese and humor alongside the sexual fanservice. Much like that scene in X-Men where characters scoff at the idea of wearing blue and yellow spandex, it gives the audience the impression they're either ashamed or embrarassed for their adaptation and the source material.
Just look at Witcher Netflix for the most aggregious disrespect for the source material. Or the Halo TV show.
Personally I like the added depth Luis and Ashley had in the RE 4 Remake but the cost of the cheesey humor made it feel less sincere.
Sincerity in general media feels like it's in decline. From TV show adaptations of our nerdy interest to our video games, there's an uneasy trend of dishonesty and embarassment from what filled our childhoods with joy. And that's sad.

I enjoyed the game a lot, but I do miss the quick time events. I never thought I would say that but they added tension, even to the cutscenes. It made the game so much more nerve wracking and enjoyable. Nevertheless, I had fun playing and it's completely stupid to boycott the game over something as dumb as not being able to see up a skirt.
I preferred the quick-time knife fight over the remakes more generic one.

There could have been a compromise for this in another universe. I could see the player angling the camra to look up her skirt only for Leon to look away, he apologizes for "accidentally" looking and Ashley calls him a perv in a sarcastic way. In the end both characters are grown adults and it could also act as an echo of leon's old self.

The only reason I miss being able to look up ashley's skirt is purely because of her reaction. Because the game will just make her say it whenever leon is looking up her skirt, this also includes whenever leon gets his head chainsawed off and his head rolls between her legs. And especially since I've been playing the re 4 randomizer a lot lately, it's happened quite a few times and makes me crack up every time.

It's well documented that for over a decade Capcom has attempted to 'Westernize' their games in order to get greater global appeal. Is it just me or have some parts of videos on youtube been getting interrupted now? at 14:50 the video "stops loading" until a few seconds later. I've had this occur on multiple videos and its usually when the person is stating a point of view. As soon as you click on 15:07. It loads just fine again. 1 time is odd but several times now. Here is my short argument for why they should have kept it: it’s a funny and clever way of immersing the player. In real life you would get called out for gawking like that and having the game call you out is funny. On a side note, little things like this are some of the most memorable parts of these older games.

I never played the original Re4. I didn't at any point feel the need to look up Ashley's skirt. Now knowing you can in the original I still think the remake is great even though you can't.

Honestly the skirt thing is the least of my sadness for this. After I beat this game I felt like I missed out on more then just able to look up Ashley's skirt. And I know Act Man mentioned all the content that was missing on a previous video and I feel bummed out that they're missing. I was excited to fight that giant scorpion centaur boss fight and all the cut scenes and dialogue with Salazar.

Stuff like this is meant to make the game more amusing or entertaining like throwing eggs at Ashley which you can still do and you could say breaks the immersion more. Why not take this theory instead? Since RE4R was going to take a new narrative. The whole game was a lot more serious and there also was a noticeable lack of content from the original game that was a lot more over-the-top and casual. What if, Capcom wanted to make a more serious game than normal, and along with their new found direction, found the skirt easter egg to be fucking stupid in the first place? If anything, I'd wager the opposite. The new direction of Resident Evil takes itself wayy too seriously.

RE4 Remake makes steps further in that direction and its getting ppl anxious.
