I am perpetually surprised that Sonic's, the restaurant, has, to this day, never had any cross promotion with Sonic the Hedgehog, especially when Sonic's serves chili dogs, Sonic's favourite food.
Sonic is all about fast food service too. Gotta go fast!

I totally agree with you, but in this case SungWon was limited by the fact that he’s outside of Sonic’s delivery radius so he had to order it from his friend’s house. I imagine he didn’t want to ask his pal to let him come over every couple of days for multiple weeks just to get through the menu (plus I don’t know how far away from him Dave actually lives - it’d be a huge pain if we’re talking about like an hour plus drive every time).

Sonic carhop here! They just changed their fries recently to “groovy fries.” They’re crinkle-cut, and I was hesitant to try them at first because I normally hate crinkle-cut fries, but they’re so much better than the fries they replaced. Also, groovy sauce slaps.
Especially when the fries are only a dollar when ordered on the app.

The meal right after your endoscopy is truly the best bites of food you'll ever have.
1. Agreed they should lean into being trashy. The cheesy bacon pretzel dog was one of their best past menu items.
2. Wish you tried more slush flavors since that and the ice cream are what they're more known for
3. I know you don't do reduxes, but i wish you could eat in person to get the mozz sticks hot and try a corn dog.
4. The onion rings just ARE that sweet, but still kinda good tbh

They're not the only fast food place that does sweet onion rings too. It always surprises me!
To be fair Sonic food comes out really quick and is delivered to your vehicle. The food is meant to be consumed immediately. Having it delivered to your home? Not so much. Their corndogs, hotdogs and cheesy tots are pretty decent. Lime slushy or a vanilla Dr Pepper- oooeee!
I came here to say this, lol. I cannot vouch for these western Sonics, but the Arkansan ones slap.
Yeah, if those mozz sticks get even remotely cold (like they are in the video), they're so much worse.
I'm old enough to have Sonic in the 80s and they used to use fresh ingredients (meat and veg). The burgers were considerably better. I cannot stand their food these days anymore.
Also came here to say this. Sure, some stuff is pretty bland, but eating Sonic cold is the worst decision you can make with their food.
Agreed, judging food while not dining in is unfair unless fast delivery is part of their gimmick.
The corndog is the best item at Sonic. Just the ability to get a corndog at a fast food restaurant is a plus.

This is true, but only because they no longer have the Lemon Berry Cream Slush on the menu. The cream slushes were the best thing that sonic ever created. I don't understand why they didn't advertise them more. The orange cream slush was like drinking a dreamsicle.

The oreo cheesecake shake goes hard too. You can get a small for $2 now which is a lot more reasonable. Definitely a missed opportunity to just film it in the car and eat it at the drive in though haha

I’ve always loved this series, and I totally understand that it’s easier to eat everything in one sitting, but it makes it a bit difficult to figure out what someone might want to try if there’s confusion about what item is which. I think fast food places should label items better, but I understand that they might be too busy to do that. I think the snack videos work so well with doing it all in one sitting because everything has a clear label. Plus it’s nice hearing you go into more detail about the items since you know exactly what each item is supposed to be.

I miss our old onion rings but I certainly don’t miss hearing the kitchen complain about making them though
Sonic's food is pretty mid, but I'll live and die by the claim that their mozzarella sticks, when hot, are fucking BANGIN. I usually only go there for ice cream/shakes, but I always grab mozzarella sticks too

Native Oklahoman here, the birthplace and home of Sonic (their HQ is in OKC, and the original "Sonic" restaurant was in my college town). I was raised going to Sonic. Mostly for their happy hour (half price drinks, 2-4pm every single damn day) but for fast food too. My favorite part of this review was when SungWon tried the onion rings. I KNEW he was going to immediately be so confused by the sweetness. I don't know the reason behind it, but he's not lying, Sonic onion rings are so strangely sweet. I grew up eating them so I love them, but they are a wild curveball if you'd never tried them before. But all in all, loved this video, thanks for trying "America's Drive-In!"

In college, we had wendys, sonic, and mcdonalds. I'm happy that (begrudgingly) he ranked the pretzel stick as one of the best menu options. In monteagle tennessee, it is the best thing on the menu

We dont have Sonic where I grew up so ive only had it on road trips. Last time I went it took them like half an hour to make our order but my burger on slices of toast instead of a bun (did your sonic not have that?) was piping hot and super fresh, honestly it kicked ass.
As someone who usually has problems eating really greasy fast food, I love Sonic. And counter to what I just said, you gotta eat the mozz sticks while they’re fresh cause they’re nice and juicy.

I think the delivery, the store, or both fucked him over. It's intended to eat right then and there in your car or just a few minutes later. I imagine a DoorDash took 20-30 minutes to get it him.
Getting this much food delivered is gonna have an impact. Payin' more for a worse result.
The quality has really gone down. A 90s chili dog from them was amazing but you don't get that anymore.

I can not stress enough that getting Sonic delivered is the worst possible way to eat Sonic food. It’s meant to be eaten and enjoyed immediately at your car, almost nothing on the menu holds up well past 10min

Sonic, to me, has always been the most C-, minimum effort fast food place ever. Occasionally they bring me in because their ice cream slaps, and their drinks are pretty good, but the food has always been the most basic, cookie-cutter fare.
Their food is the bare minimum. The legal requirement. The “You asked for food, we gave you food” kind of quality. If I’m gonna spend money on fast food, I’m gonna go somewhere else and stop at Sonic only for the drinks.
The fact you rated the cheese sticks a D+.. its easily the best item on their menu lmao. Plz give them a fair chance fresh :(
As a regular consumer of Sonic you are a madman for doing all of these in one day 😂. But my favorite item is the Fritos chili cheese wrap. It’s just frito pie in a tortilla and it works SO well. Also the onion rings are sweet because they fry them with the French toast sticks.

It’s honestly funny because Sonic is the place I go to get stuff to supplement something else with. I never have their main entrees because so many other places do it better for around the same or less.

The crispy chicken CAN be great... but man is there SO much variance in quality with it, it's a complete gamble. As for the tenders, they changed them drastically just a few years ago. Completely different than they were for ages, AND they got rid of the gravy.
This is like the chill eat the menu (yes I know ProZD has been eating many different varieties of foods for a while but it was snack foods first, now its menus!!!).

Sonic used to be a lot better, they got bought out in 2018 - the biggest quality hit was to the burgers. I'll stan the cheesesticks tho, but they're like McDonald's fries, in that they turn trash if they get cold. Also, you're not crazy regarding the onion rings - for some reason, they put some of their milkshake mix into the onion ring batter.

Sonic the restaurant has been around since 1953, it's been around nearly twice as long as the hedgehog.
