    Very comprehensive review there lofty , I actually had the de version out the other week and really loved it and I reckon the re is the machine for me ,, I’ll be round the shops next week to see what I can get on a trade in on my moto guzzi v7iii 🫰….

    Definitely the bike Suzuki should have brought out before the 800 DE. Agreed, it should be a good seller, especially with the free heated grips that Suzuki are offering this winter. I wonder if Honda will reciprocate with a tubeless, 19" front wheel version of the Transalp?

      It will perhaps outsell DE any way because most of riders ride on pavement roads. Plus the fact that it comes with 19” front and tubeless tires. Lower price lower seat and lower weight.

    I’ve got 8s engines same and is a peach. I’d love to test the 800RE as I had a versys before the 8s.

    Great vid, just wish it had cruise as an option, I'll get a test ride next month hopefully.
    I didn't like the DE, great engine but it felt weird to ride, big spindly 21" tubed spoked front wheel put me right off anyway.

    Sat on one the other day and it was indeed very comfy. Shame they don't offer a more inspiring colour range.

      I went to the NEC in view of buying a green one, and it left me cold, though the blue has a silver subframe, not white, as reported in some comments...it would have to be that one for me(1050 DE in yellow is around £10k at present, that might be worth the few hundred quid more,C/C and a center stand?).

    If they added cruise control, it would have been a hot seller. Probably outsold Transalp, bmw f800 /900 and tge ktm 790 /890. But they always get greedy.

    I would prefer this over the DE model, but the matte paint is a no for me. Here in the U.S. the DE is $1000 more, but my local dealer has one marked down and I can get it for $1000 less than this model. I can get aftermarket cruise for $300.

    Love the review , how does it compare to the CF Moto 800 mt about the same price but this being a v strom I would expect it to be the better bike?

      No, its not that straight forwards...the CF moto 800MT Explore has more tech and a 3 box set included....the Suzie will probably be more reliable, maybe??? thanks for watching

    TLB wow, you are a giant but look reasonably comfortable on the RE. Owning the 8S, this would be a very good travelling companion & use the 8S for domestic duties 👌
    Edit: am I the only one that uses the rear brake as a corner settling mechanism? Who uses just the rear brake to come to a complete stop when 75% of the stopping power is in the front wet or dry?🤔

    Did you like this better than the gsxs800r you recently reviewed? I noticed this vstrom 800 is a bit heavier than the 8r.

      In general I'm a massive fan of the new 800 engine. It works well in all of the variants.....At 6'5'' tall the V strom 800DE is just about my pick.

      Both very good, similar but also different...You need to test ride them to be sure!...Personally I prefer the Susie engine....thanks for watching

      With Ducati's and some BM's now touching 30k a sub 10k bike is indeed cheap!... You can have a GSX-800s, V strom 800DE and a Transalp for the price of a Ducati Pike pike....the world has gone mad......thanks for watching

      I've already reviewed the 2024 Transalp, see vid list....my personal opinion as a 6'5" 16 stone man the V Strom is much better....both great bikes...you need to test ride and compare them...I absolutely love the 800 Suzie engine......Thanks for watching watching

      The 800 engine has 2 balancer shafts and very little nasty vibes....extremely well built.....thanks for watching

      I must have tested a different bike then ,,,,I found the vibes right through the rev range...it was a very stable and good handling bike but there's no way I could live with the vibes...

    Funny how people differ as I tested the transalp and the 800de back to back and the 800de I bought now has 4,000 miles on it. The Honda was a good bike but a bit too "honda" for my taste.

      Very strange,. I was a little dissapointed in the 800DE, I had also ridden the 1050DE that day and loved it....I just thought the TA was different.......

      @@aaronng8844 Two very similar styled bikes aimed at the same market. Both built to a budget..... the TA is revier with more of a top end rush, the 800 engine has more torque...Best to try both!

    i like it, but my 02 1000 vstrom weighs less (mods) and makes more power. also runs on regular gas.

    For you lofty types, there's a flat seat available from Hessler, not cheap at €500...also,he has plenty offroad parts too...he's got the DE down to 226kg with 14kg of fuel on board (20litres). Getting this machine down to 190kg dry is achievable! Looking to replace the Tracer7 with one,i never gelled with the 900,the T7 is perfect for Scotland, just needs longer legs for touring abroad!

      I am so sorry I couldn't tell you. We only receive EU euro 5 and models in the UK. Emission rules differ In the USA.......Thanks for watching

      It looks like the RE is coming out in the USA as simply the V-Strom 800. No RE in the name. It's on the US site now (at 9899) and looks identical.
