I save time with stuffed cabbage by freezing the cored head whole! Thaw it the day before and the leaves are supple and pliable. Saves me lots of time ☺️
Instead of boiling cabbage wrap the cabbage and put it in the freezer. When you take it out and it thows the leaves come apart nicely and it is much safer than boiling water. I've been doing it this way for years and makes....makes it much easier
Yesterday when I watched you cook your meat, I didn’t think you’d have that many meals out of it but wowzers! You did brilliant any! That was a lot of meals and they all look yummy. Combined with the chicken meals you won’t have to “cook” for a long time. Just enjoy sharing with us how you serve them. Thank you Amy for all your hard work you put into your food, family and this channel, I’m grateful for it. Bless you my dear.
Stuffed cabbage leaves with the cucumber wow Amy there was some memories there for me. My Mum used to make this as she was German we haven’t had this for years. I am definitely gonna make this again xx
Goumpki is very popular here in Chicago as there is a large Polish population here. I'm only a teeny bit Polish. So my family never made it. But I've had it many times over the years from my friends Polish moms and grandmas. Good memories!
Wow, I've never seen them done like that. My mom was Czech and we called them Holupka. I never liked them (haha)! Mom would make this huge pot full of them with chopped cabbage in the bottom, the Holupka stacked in layers (like 60 of them!) and covered in water and white vinegar (like 2 cups).
I am loving the freezer meals. So do people question your methods alot? I noticed you explain a lot why you are doing what you are doing when I think it's really smart to do what you are doing :-). I have more time on my hands lately actually and that's when I do more freezer prep.. it just helps take the daily guesswork out of it and all you have to do is pull out whatever sounds good. Just me & mom. When I cook 🍖, it's family size, and gets frozen. Freezes smaller, faster to make a meal, and more forgiving of power loss. And we ❤ leftovers. Mashed 🥔, we boil 4, and then use t hat h2o for instant potatoes 🥔, and mix a BIG bowl. Butter, cream cheese, garlic, herbs, etc. yummm.
Wow Amy. That was an amazing video of all the beef dinners. Such a variety. Ur family are so blessed to have a mum like u. Rest up n have a great anniversary weekend. Happy anniversary to both of u.
For stuffed cabbage in our family it’s ground veal pork beef rice bread crumbs egg in cabbage leaf rolled with tomato sauce and bake in oven is what we do in our Hungarian family tradition someone changed it I guess in our family lol but it’s my fav
Sometimes instead of doing it with sauerkraut I put in my stuffed cabbage rolls, rice hamburger, minced garlic, chopped onions, salt and pepper, a dash of to of soy sauce and then roll them up. Then I put stewed tomatoes
Amy, I know you love your 10 kid Taco Chili, but have you ever tried White Chili? It's a chicken based chili with white beans, canned green chilis, a jar of salsa verde (green salsa), onion, garlic, cumin, salt, pepper, and topped with sour cream and cheese. It is really good. Also, you can top it with chopped bacon for a smokey flavor which is also yummy, I bet bacon would be good on your 10 kid taco chili as well.
Amy , do you do more freezer meals in the winter then the summer ? . I picked up more freezer tins on my Thursday shopping with a friend . I can usually find them on sale around the holidays . Going to definitely start next week my freezer meals . Makes life so much easer and better for sure . Gives me time to do my chores and not have to stop to cook dinner . I just pop in my oven and ready in no time at all . Love 💕 it !!! , Ty , Sharon 👍👌😋🥰😁🙋🏻♀️
I recently learned if I put the cabbage in the freezer to freeze then thaw it out you can peel the leaves without boiling. I found it by accident my hubby put the bag of what he thought was all garage freezer items into freezer and head of cabbage was in it.
My Mama is the same way with her green thumb! While myself on the other hand can barely keep flowers alive once I plant them in a flower pot and feed them miracle grow lol. I can't even keep houseplants alive either lol! My Mama also had a cactus in our living room when I was little that she grew from a little piece she took from my Grandma's cactus from when she lived in Florida. That little piece of cactus that my Mama planted grew so big that it got to be the same size as our old big wooden floor model TV! I don't remember exactly what happened to it, I think she ended up giving it to a friend but I know for a fact we had it for several decades! I'm so bad with the houseplants though that I don't even buy the fake little plastic succulents!
I think those phrases are called idioms. I have several books on them and the kids love them! We even researched how yelling "Geronimo!" when you jump came from. Good times. Homeschooling was great. They are in public school now. Different seasoning of life require different things.
i love that you used canned sloppy joe sauce. I have tried so many recipes but my boys only like the canned. I make taco meat, sloppy joe meat, and shepherds pie each month. Love your videos!
They are called ""Idioms" - my favorites are "A Hitch In My Giddy Up" and "Sore As A Tick On A Brown Bear" (I always assumed it meant that the tick had to work hard to get to the skin).
I think making simple things like sloppy Joe's, and taco meat is a huge help !!!! I also freeze the ingredients for shephards pie..not in a dish but in bags and toss into the pan when I go to make it. Instant potatoes are also a time saver!
We have a family-wide Christmas cactus too! My sister is the cactus queen, like your mom! She is a self-taught botanist and works at our local garden center and she has shared a ton of our family Christmas cactus pieces at her work, and pots them and they just keep on going! It was my grandmother's 80 years ago and she's still going! She even bloomed a few weeks ago 😂 she's a little confused sometimes, but it'll be okay 😂
Hello Amy, love your videos! Gwumpkies is a Slavic dish in fact not German, my mother is still doing it everythime I visit her. The original name in written Polish is "gołąbki". Greetings from France for you and your family.

My Papa passed away in 2007 and I SO wish I could've had that with him about his air force career. 😭 He tried telling me stories of everything, but I didn't pay enough attention.
Hi, Amy! Question for you: At around 36:57 in the video you talk about baked spaghetti and putting a can of cream of mushroom soup in it. I've never heard of cream of mushroom soup in baked spaghetti before. Is that a family recipe? Keep all the freezer meal recipes coming!
It was one my mother in law shared with me from a magazine...put cream of mushroom in middle ..sauce noodles on top and bottom and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.bake :)

Those "gwumpkies" are actually called "Kohlrouladen" in German. Just FYI. "Kohl" means cabbage. "Rouladen" is just the fact that you "roll" the ground beef inside. Hence stuffed cabbage rolls.
