Nissan's going to look completely different by 2030. Here's their gameplan to change the company. The USA is finally getting the hybrid and EV technology its lineup has deserved.
Nissan targets additional 1-million-unit sales compared to fiscal year 2023 and operating profit margin of more than 6% by end of fiscal year 2026
30 new models to be launched by fiscal year 2026, of which 16 will be electrified
60% of internal combustion engine (ICE) passenger-vehicle models to be refreshed by fiscal year 2026
EV competitiveness to be enhanced by reducing cost of next-generation EVs by 30% and achieving EV and ICE vehicle cost parity by fiscal year 2030
Significant next-generation EV cost reduction to be achieved through grouped “family” development, with vehicle production under the approach starting in fiscal year 2027
Strategic partnerships expanded into technology, product portfolio and software services
Dividends and buybacks to target total shareholder return of more than 30%
New business ventures to unlock a potential 2.5 trillion yen in additional revenues by fiscal year 2030

Their current E-Power technology saves some MPGs overall, but not that many as their competitors do. However it is still a sweet system, makes the ride quieter and offers smoother acceleration than their petrol only powertrains. I’ve driven the E-Power X-Trail (Rogue in the US) quite a few times, and it’s peppy and extremely comfortable. Better than the Rav4 for sure (Rav4 hybrid offers better MPG numbers tho).

Kirk pulled up an outdated chart of the comparison chart of EV, E-power, and Conventional hybrid. Nissan updated the chart as John Cadogan of Auto Expert pointed out. The engine generator does provide power to the wheels INDIRECTLY via the inverter when needed. The generator is now dotted lined to the inverter instead of directly to the battery and sends power to the inverter only at high speeds. Kirk needs to get the updated chart. Look for it on the Nissan Global. John Cadogan for years criticized Nissan for years on the misrepresentation of e-Power until Nissan updated the chart. It seems that the generator only charges the battery at high speeds. What happens if the battery is too low to begin with?

This year the main thing is the QX80. Maybe a refresh of the QX60 debuting at the end of the year. Q50 is being cancelled 😢. No sedan until the EV debuts.
Next year is the QX65 which is the 1 brand new model for 2025 and the car closest to the QX80 in the formation. This has the potential to takeover as their best seller. It’s a coupe version of the QX60, it’ll really be more along the lines of an RX competitor.
My guess is the formation hints at the order of the debuts for Infiniti. QX80 is on the far left (just revealed), then the QX65 (debuting next year), then the EV sedan, then the EV crossover and the one on the far right back of the formation is the furthest out and I have no idea what that is.

Way overdue Nissan. What took you so long to launch e-power in North America? Still looking forward to a the revival of Xterra. Hopefully they realized the success of the Frontier and will convert that to a Xterra and a new generation of Pathfinder.
After watching their business plan, they are pivoting way too slow. They need to get E-Power in the US models ASAP and offer it in all refresh and new models immediately.
Also, ICE and EV parity by 2030 with Hybrid only accounting for 20%? They need to increase that to 50% as that's what consumers want right now.
They also need to keep in mind people cannot afford the expensive vehicles right now. They need to find ways to cut some unwanted/not needed features to reduce the price tag on all base trim models.

North Americans generally are brand loyalists when it comes to pickups (especially in the US), it's very rare for a Ford person to switch to Toyota all of a sudden, for example. That's the major reason why Japanese trucks don't usually do well there (the Tacoma has been an exception for more than 20 years).

Nissan USA executives is tone deaf to USA market. E-power is coming FY26 which is a decade after it was introduced in late 2016 via the Note. FY26 is in the timeline for e-Power presented in the NIssan video. You missed it. Whoever is charge of Nissan USA should be fired. It is too late for Nissan to regain a hold on consumers. The only way the e-Power makes sense is if Nissan has a PHEV version for e-Power vehicles similar to Mazda MX-30 R EV.

Only achieving cost parity to ICEVs by 2026 shows how much they are behind. Toyota reached that target in 2021 and now every hybrid model they sell is cheaper to make (and thus more profitable since they command a higher price) than their equivalent-powered ICE model.
