Tbh thats not true. Read his book, Nadal says thats not true (he's left handed on and off the court). Also even if he was right handed because he is using his left hand in tennis it's strange that he grips it as if he is right handed cause the grooves in the grip are meant to align with the angle of your hand so changing which direction the grip spirals up the handle changes which hand should be holding the racquet. I'm not a hater just an informer lol
idk if anybody realized, but he puts his grips in what people would say is the right handed players direction and nadal is lefty so I actually find that interesting that he doesn't do the wrap direction lefty.
I’m a lefty and have definitely made that observation. I grip my over grip the lefty way, because I’m very princess and the pea when it comes to feeling my stick. Previously would even flip replacement grips around so I could wrap my sticks the lefty way, too, but not so anymore! Too much effort and unnecessary! :)
The yo yo throw to unroll the grip is truly professionally done. The tip of the butt Cap wrap is doubled to produce a nobby end to hold on to while swinging and serving. When our New England Temps go from the 20s to the 80's I try the deed with no shirt. Then, my grip might work better in better weather. 😌
Oh really? Maybe I'm just picky then. I'm right-handed and I wrap in the same direction as Rafa. One of my friends is left-handed, and he wraps his grip in the opposite direction. I thought it was normal to want the grooves in the grip to be aligned with your fingers.
Do I have to take my shirt off first or is that optional. And I don't watch Nadal enough to know if he has a two handed back hand but he was concentrating really hard on the top half of that over grip.
Wow, he seem to wrap with a lot of overlap on the edges... I remember some pros saying less overlap is better for feel. But of course it's personal preference, more overlap is better for comfort i guess. ;)
Indeed, noticed it too. I've seen a video where pro's fold the end of the tape and start with that and end with the tapered end but in this case it looks like it has 2 tapered ends.
which overwrap is that? I tried to zoom in, but couldn't tell which one it is. It IS Babolat overwrap, but not sure it it's the VS Original, or if it's Pro Team Or Pro Tour. Pretty cool how he uses that grip right out of the pack like everyone else, rather than some customized overwrap. Looks like Babolat VS Original (white).
If Raf were a cyclist, there would have been a guy who would have run out and rewrapped his racket in 20 seconds and then carried him back to center court while providing a clean shirt.
....he wrapped it with his right hand....as he is right handed, but plays left handed for advantage of being a lefty on tour (there weren't many when he went pro)
Well I was watching a video from a guy that says if you are left handed wrap it the opposite way, is that correct? I mean, I have been using it as a right handed all of this time. "I'm left handed at tennis". Ps: that's the #1 left handed player in history I mean, who is right and who is wrong?, I would say Nadal is right but I would like to know what you all think, I'm trying the left wrap today I'll let you know about it, btw I'm the worst amateur from this game so idk if my experience would work.
I thought extra grip tape would be towards the end. Usual there is excess tape that you need to cut with a scissor. Maybe he unravels, then measures each tape, then cuts it, and then puts back into his bag for the future, so he doesn't have to carry around a scissor.
Why is Rafael using a right handed grip when he play with his left hand. I am also ambidextrous and can play equally well either hand in squash. So I wonder do I need to retain my right handed grip too when playing with my left hand. Maybe too tiresome to keep changing grip especially testing new racquets from sponsors. Besides he uses both hands for certain shots too.
He starts with the end part of the grip, non tapered ends. Folds over the end strip so the butt cap has a slightly thicker wrap and ends up with the tapered end at the top. This way no scissors to finish off and he probably likes the slightly thicker butt cap end for his extreme grip on his forehand
@@johncharles2357 No you're right that Nadal didn't do that. He did it the standard way starting with the tapered end that had the sticky/taped part. But there is a video on TH-cam that shows how apparently many pros apply overwrap starting with the "end" (even, not tapered) part, folding/doubling it over, wrapping twice over the butt, then continuing with the wrap open as normal, and then finishing with the tapered end and then the piece of tape.
How did he take off his shirt without his cap falling off?
Daniel Holmberg Because he is a legend!
He staples the hat to his head before-hand
Bald guys are experts at doing that.
@@raultennis5904 he is not bold dumbass
The real GOAT move
Step 1: take your shirt off
Step 2: grip
got it
I'm just wondering if someone will comment like this... lmao
You got the point , man!
Pure genius. How did I never think of this strategy before?
Step 0. Have a million dollar watch
hahahahaha… you catch the main points
Ahh, it's "take your shirt off without losing your hat." 😂
I think the most important and most overlooked part is the facial expressions. My grips never look quite right unless I do the faces.
0:57
Spider-Man would like to know your location
LoL😂
Well, that's pretty much how everyone else does it
he grips it as if he's gonna play with his right hand
+Verse well he's right handed off the courts

JCAT he is right handed for everything apart from tennis so stop bullshitting
Daniel Lee 😂😂 I'm glad SOMEONE got the point of this video
To wrap overgrip like Nadal. Step one: be shirtless
Step to put on the grip.
The guy is so precise and doesn't like to leave out any details. So 100% concentration.
idk if anybody realized, but he puts his grips in what people would say is the right handed players direction and nadal is lefty so I actually find that interesting that he doesn't do the wrap direction lefty.

The Overgrip has one up and one downside. The edge is cutted so there is only one way to warp it
Rafael Nadal is lefty for tennis but righty for everything else (he signs autographes with right hand).
@@xaviersemont647 he's also using his right hand to apply the wrap in this video.
Now I see why my overgrip wraps don’t come out nice and is cause I always miss step #1 in taking my shirt off.
😂
please don't
That’s pretty cool he does that for himself still as a top five pro
The coolest skill shown is how he got a shirt off without knocking off his hat
Here is one tennis related thing that I do exactly like Nadal. It feels great !
No messing with markers and scissors for neat finish .
Wish they would taper the end of grip like at the start. Most people use the full roll anyway. Would make life simpler.
That's why I always change my overgrip at home. Shirtless as well, for max accuracy.
Superb grip replacement !!
We want more grip replacement vids!
I spend all my free time watching grip replacement videos and tutorials. Its better than porn.
Look at Nadel's face...lol, hilarious
Quanliang Xie it looks like he is gonna cry. Like he feels sorry for the racquet going thru this process XD
Rewrapping with 1 million dollars wristwatch.
He looks like Rambo sharpening his arrow or sword
I was looking at his watch tho. 🤣
Thank you so much
Why does he wrap it counter-clockwise if he holds the racket with his left hand? Wouldn't the grooves on the grip be misaligned with his fingers?
I'm left handed and I do the same direction as Rafa. The grooves dont really affect my fingers
Oh really? Maybe I'm just picky then.
I'm right-handed and I wrap in the same direction as Rafa. One of my friends is left-handed, and he wraps his grip in the opposite direction. I thought it was normal to want the grooves in the grip to be aligned with your fingers.
Thus, the finger tape due to a righty grip😬😉
Quite nice for being his first time🤙
Do I have to take my shirt off first or is that optional. And I don't watch Nadal enough to know if he has a two handed back hand but he was concentrating really hard on the top half of that over grip.
his face moves around like a pianist
Anybody noticed how he wrapped his grips for right handed play while he plays left handed?
I did... is something weird, but it works for him
He is right handed but plays with the left
Yes, this is the first thing I noticed. Underrated comment !
That's because he was born right handed.
Seriously??
Wow, he seem to wrap with a lot of overlap on the edges... I remember some pros saying less overlap is better for feel. But of course it's personal preference, more overlap is better for comfort i guess. ;)
Thanks. At last I know why I could not master a decent handle taping. I never took off my shirt🙈
what a talent
Wow dude is talented can open his own tennis shop
1:28 seems he started with the tapered end? but the finishing end did not require any cutting. wonder if his grips are tapered on both ends?
Indeed, noticed it too. I've seen a video where pro's fold the end of the tape and start with that and end with the tapered end but in this case it looks like it has 2 tapered ends.
Step one: Be built like a tank
everyone thinks the trick is to take your shirt off, but the trick is actually to be hot
I was born the same day As Rafa, and I change overgrips just like him, hahaha. Just I don´t have 14 GS. A small difference. HAHAHA.
16
i was born same day as roger :)
So you also took your shirt off?
HAHAHAHAHA
ahem 17*
Did he double folded table at the butt, even he put sticky part. After but looks too high, or probably it was done on the grip?
he really likes his overgrips tin.. even over a grip 2
I rewrap the overgrip badly because I do not take off my shirt
That Richard Mille watch could afford a penthouse in New York
Is he using a Wilson over grip?
Awesome. Love how he double wrapped the butt (comfort and reference I’m guessing)
This is a weird question, but where can you buy overgrip?
Seriously? Any of the warehouse tennis supply places or a pro shop, sports store, Walmart, Dicks, Tennis shop or tennis clubs.
Is he using a richard mille during a match
Oh wait, he was regripping his racquet 🤣
ok. shirt off and then regrip. got it
Uh huh, yeah, I'm totally looking at the racket here.
hi-def footage, nice
Step one: keep your hands wet.
Step two : be shirtless.
Final result : walla!
Is that tomic next to him?
Mikhail Youzhny
He wraps it for a right handed player.
because he's actually right handed
@@tybo6376 you wrap the grip how you ply tennis which is left handed, but he wraps it for a righty. You don’t get it

Step 1 - take off overgrip
Step 2 - take off shirt
Step 3 - put on overgrip
Step 4 - put on Shirt

He is right-handed?
Yes, he is right-handed at birth. But his uncle forced him to play left hand, main reason was to beat Roger Federer :)) lol
the first hitting moments js after wrapping an overgrip
i use scissors at the end like a noob
wrap for right-handed
Why does it look like he is about to cry
KongthePotato probably he was thinking about the 2007 Wimbledon’s final
Because of how incredibly white and pretty it looks now......knowing it will soon be dirty......I think
Ombeleibable focus, no?

Gato, acho lindo!
woah he uses 2 wristbands👍😲
Only legends know that he fold it in half at the start
that muscle though😍
Treesa Louis perv
Es curioso, ahí te das cuenta de que es diestro, menos para jugar.
Lo curioso es que lo ha colocado para diestro, que aunque Rafa es diestro sin embargo coge la raqueta con la zurda 😅
He overwraps it around the opposite way because he is left handed
no, he wrapped it just like a normal one is done...pulling right.
Although some lefties actually prefer pulling it left. Its a preference really.
He was being sarcastic
....he wrapped it with his right hand....as he is right handed, but plays left handed for advantage of being a lefty on tour (there weren't many when he went pro)
sorry, didn't see that comment as sarcastic to be honest :P
Frans van Terwisga he's left handed on and off the courts, he even said himself

that watch tho
Just like any else
Team tapered on top, flat bottom😁👍🏻
Well Nadal wore stylish outfits in 2015 that was his worst year.
but that watch though
For a guy who is so particular, I can't understand how that big watch doesn't bother him. It's not like he needs the money.
It's funny no one mentions his Richard Milles watch that's worth about $500 G's..
flippin heck, what a revelation. Like everybody else does . Duh
I will once be like him
Taking off your shirt must help I gotta try it next time.
The absolute definition of Hunk. 😀

Physically speaking, this is harder than doing 10 pull ups

The most important step is taking that shirt off without making ur hat fall off
