My favorite thing about this drill is how it builds the correct sequence and connection feeling in the swing . Best drill I’ve ever done and great in between shots to keep ingraining the right feelings .

If a player is going to be conscientious of an “actionable” swing thought .. it’s the path of the handle .. if the smaller arc of the hands is working correctly, the end of the club follows.. I really enjoy your insight
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf used this drill as a practice swing today and hit it real solid. Alongside my Rotary Swing 'DEAD' drill this is a game-changer for a long-time 'flipper/early-extender'... Thank you very much, Sir!
CAnt wait to try this. I have finally kind of got myself out of casting so bad lately from, using impact drill making the club head and shaft strike something out in front of you at the same time. It kinda gives you the feeling of hanging on without actually hanging on to the angle but just focusing so hard on what impact looks and feels like, that you start get closer to it when speeding up.. takes work though.. I cant wait to focus on the handle some and see how my backwards ass golf feeling match up with it!
Hi Alex to simplify swinging the handle; consider teaching this: As you just showed in this video as the hands path goes so goes the head of your club lagging behind So ask your students to imagine their golf club is like a kid sitting on a swing. The grip end represents the kids and the head of the club represents the swing. So as they stay within their golf posture until the end of their swing, have them not even thinking about what various parts of there body are doing at all. All you want them to do is pull the kid ( grip) back with their hands for the backswing and then on their downswing push and keep pushing the kid all the way to the end of their forward swing. With the rotation move of their body as their hands are continually pushing the kid on his swing ( club head) will lag behind go down leveling to the ground and then up again to the full completion of their pushing the kid on his swing. When pushing the kid on the swing both their wrists must be unlocked and passive throughout the process. As far as the ball go it just gets in the way of pushing the kid on the swing. Hope you try this analogy on your students and let me know what you think. It’s my new analogy of the golf swing that I will keep the rest of my life. It is my personal take on Ed Merrins “ Swing thé Handle” Cheers
Hi Alex thanks for the guidance you are giving. I am getting frustrated with my golf. I am hitting the ball reasonably but it seems to be going high and just falling out the air, usually ending up plugged.
Ok, you need to start with solid contact and compression. To squeeze the ball, even in little swings will give you the feel you want to replicate.. this is old but good. th-cam.com/video/QvJ0JS3J3O8/w-d-xo.html
Hit 50 balls at the range. So effortless, lower flight and about 12 yards extra distance. Enjoying the lead hand back slap, like my school teacher used to do. 😂🏴

It sure is Glenn, love its simplicity and how this drill can be practiced anywhere and get good results. Perfect for getting rid of casting, flipping and other golf problems.
Alex, thanks for this great swing tip. I have to be the most inconsistent golfer ever. Hit 5 good shots then 5 bad ones. Have always been a hands and arms player. If my timing is good, well then it's good day, if not, then it's a struggle. With the Swing the Handle swing thought, It's like magic how easy it is to get through the ball without hitting at it and not have to think about where my elbow is, bump my hip, shaft lean, etc. This really makes it simple.
This is a great drill, one that helped me get down to 4hcp at 60yo. In your normal swing try focusing on the lead center of the shaft through impact, ie where your hands are holding it in this drill!
This is my go to on course feel now. I never truly had lag. I am getting insane distance and consistency when I focus on releasing the handle out towards the target. Unbelievable!
Hi Alex, To start the down swing do you want to fire your right side through the Ball, I think? Once your loaded in your back swing , do you start the downswing by pulling with your right arm ( side) , both arms or left arm (side) followed by your right side? I'm self taught and I used to feel as if my left side pulled the club head through the ball and I was striking the ball as good as i ever did? I lost this feeling and its almost back. I feel at the finish of my back swing pulling with my right side I can feel my left hip automatically lead the swing ? As long as i stay in my posture i can see my right shoulder replacing my left shoulder under my chin and I also see my right knee under my chin at impact? I've been experimenting pulling my left side and right side at the same time with the right side taking over at impact? I have a return net set up for winter in my Garage and can swing up to a five hybrid. I practice full swings with older clubs. Right now I'm using a 6 iron. I get consistent swing speed between 87 and 96 MPH (occasionally 84 -87 MPH)on my radar. I get to where I'm swinging 94-96 MPN consistently without trying do it by starting my down swing with my right side? it seem like my right shoulder and left shoulder and hips move at the same time? Any suggestion? Thanks!
Hi! Well that’s a lot of info and good explanations of what you feel. The thing is, feel vs real is often different. But you sound like you are on the right road. I would just be wary of thinking or feeling all these rn hinge during a swing. 1-2 at most. The most important thing is matching your specific intent for the shot. Even in a net; picture a shot and match the set up and swing to suit it. Pulling with left but toting right side does sound like it’s ok. Left arm only swings are great to ensure not too much. But also the right only swings (we published a video a couple of weeks back on it) Well done and keep at it. I wish I was able to play where you are right now Alex. We, here in central Georgia USA, are already in triple digit heat for high temperatures in frickin May! It's awful man. I love playing golf in the dead of winter. As long as the ground isn't frozen, I thoughoughly enjoy it. My body seems to produce more core heat than a lot of people or something because as soon as I start swinging and playing, I get really warm and on extremely hot dayslike right now it can just be near impossible to concentrate and simply unbearable to be out there. When it's this hot around here our golf courses become nearly deserted until like 6pm. and by that time you are really pushing it to get 18 in. Usually it ends up being 9. I guess my point is that folks are always wanting warm weather and wishing away what I consider to be some of the absolute best time to play. I always know when they do that, that they have never lived anywhere like my area for any extended period of time. This hot is highly unusual for May. Usually it's like 85-90 for highs this time of year and 100+ doesn't generally show it's ugly head for another month or so, so I truly hope the temperatures will drop some before actual summer is here because if not, we are in for a truly hellish damn summer when July and August role around and the humidity goes through the roof. Uugghh!!
