Didn't write all their own stuff in the 80s because of back and forth with the record labels. Still managed to be really good, both theirs and the other stuff, credit to them... they're sister's.
Ann and Nancy Wilson are two very talented ladies. Among the greatest and most-respected in rock music. This song has been in a ton of films. Nancy herself had a cameo in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. This band is one of the staples of the classic rock era. My favorite song of theirs is Magic Man. Another great one is All I Want to Do is Make Love to You. Not every song is my favorite, but they're bonafide legends, and absolute essential listening if you're looking for some music history.

Heart are a hard rock band, for the most part. They dabble in some bluesy stuff and pop rock and other genres. This is a big power ballad from 1987, obviously. I'd say a lot of heavy metal vocalists took notes from Ann's delivery and range, and Nancy's arpeggios. Very groundbreaking.
Fantastically beautiful. Still plants a lump in my throat. Broke up with a very special girl when this was big in out charts. From the album "bad Animals". Mostly power ballads from Heart at that time although some of their earlier stuff had a little more clout. I wont tell about the "young man fantasies" I had about that singer.....oooopss.LOL I played this album to death bad in the day. Broken hearted, so bad, I though I was dying. Even I was a kid once !!!! No exaggeration, some of the tracks on this LP were all muffled because it never cam off the turn table. I never did replace that. I'll have to one day, it's a great album. Im pleasantly surprised that you like this as much as you do. Hardly what I would have expected you to go for, as you seem to sway toward much heavier stuff. At the time this album was doing the rounds here, Cher was in direct competition with her own brand of power ballads, and melodic rock. I'm surprised some of her videos weren't banned, with the way she dressed, and moved. It was soft porn really. I didn't gripe about back then, it was that look that sold quite a few record to me. "Barracuda" is more like their normal sound and is probably one you've heard before, it's a fast tempo hard rock/metal song. I'd highly recommend checking it out -- great vocals, guitars, and drumming in that one. This singer Ann Wilson, is widely viewed as the goat of female hard rock singers, and the band Heart was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame back in 2013. According to Billboard they've had Top 10 studio albums starting with their first in 1976 spanning 40+ years to their most recent Red Velvet Car in 2010. So they've been around and been commercially relevant for almost 50 years. Hope you react to more of their stuff!

Heart were the first to popularize the song but also technically a cover as the writers had originally released it with their band but wasn't a hit.
