    We must support our local farmer to grow real milk. I used to experience lactose intolerance, when I started to buy raw milk last year and I never had any lactose reaction.

    Thank you for talking about the realities of big dairy as opposed to small family operations! We milk goats and the raw milk is amazing in flavor and healthy nutrition. Nothing like it and we need to educated people to request changes to the laws for the small provider. The laws now are prohibitive. Farm stores and farmers markets should have access.

    • @jg5755
      @jg5755 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@A1Bokeh He may use older cows as nurse cows but dairy calves are born with so few fat reserves, especially Jerseys, it's actually much healthier for them to be in their own clean, dry barn than outside with the herd. If they have 24/7 access to their mother they can attempt to drink all of her milk, and seeing as dairy cows produce it in excess (2-4 times what a calf needs), this will give the calves scours which causes dehydration and death of not treated promptly. Disease can also be spread through the herd by calves feeding off multiple cows, so overall its healthier for the calves to be separated.
      Because we have such a long childhood and invest so much in our children we anthropomorphise and think it's the same for animals. It's not and even in my personal milking set-up calves are separated soon after birth and fed by us. I didn't the first time and my first milk cow's calf ripped her teats to shreds with its teeth so had to be weaned much earlier than intended. We only have a small area of land so weaning was a very noisy nightmare!

    Imagine consuming only raw milk products from healthy cows instead of pasteurised milk from less healthy cows in factories, that’s probably a lot healthier. Also their meat, but that’s another story since he doesn’t slaughter them.
    Personally I drink a lot of milk and eat a lot of yogurt and both tend to give me some stomach discomfort.

    12:18 This is totally not true !! Alcohol by products are some of the best feeds available !!! Next to grass ! This guy is painting a bleak picture of a dairy farmer. I agree with parts of it but others is totally no true ! At 9:00 is totally false ! Every farmers milk is tested for dirt. Myself.... I had a check done on my own milk from the tank. I got a small pad back from the creamery... it had a " fly " glued to it. It came from my tank yes......but only after the milk hauler opened the tank to take a sample of the milk ! No sand would ever end up in a truck load of milk.....or it would be rejected on the spot !

    Im a dairy farmer.......do people realize often a milker claw falls off.....and drops into pure manure........and it is sucked up and go directly into the milker / tank !!!!! This is reality........it happens all the time. There is no such thing as " clean "milk. But.....I still drink the milk I produce. The human body adapts to bacteria. But.....someone thats never had raw milk could end up in the hospital !

      @@mr.skeptical3071 No one will ever know ! Throw out a complete tank of milk because of a little manure ???? No chance ! Who would pay them for it ? No one ! Therefore..... yes it is about money ! This video is only a warm fuzzy video....but has very little to do with reality ! Besides... many dairy farmers dont even wash the cows teats before milking them. Why create mastitis by exposing the teats to outside bacteria ? Oh sure.....when people are watching we pretend and make things look proper. But I promise thats not the true story ! Also when a cow takes a pee or poop the manure still splashes up " into " the milker inflations. Thats the pure green stuff ! Cows dont pee and poop when in the stall / barn ? Please ! City folks have no clue !!!!! But still we dairy farmer produce some of the best milk products out there ! Pour the milk through a cloth ? To get the particles out ? At 2:32 Hmm what might those particles be ???? Besides they do make sanitary filters to strain the milk. These dish cloths are not sanitary !

    Unless you personally know someone
    with cows or own one, whole milk is really expensive. Here in Nebraska it's
    $7-$12 a gallon. No thanks. Here's an idea. For all you health/dairy advocates;
    make it affordable, and maybe everyone would get on board.

    • @TheFarmacy
      @TheFarmacy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Issac Newton you’re right that the cost of a small family farms milk is more expensive, and many families like ours make sacrifices in our budget in other areas to be able to buy raw milk and local food. Unfortunately, these small farmers don’t get government subsidies like big agriculture farmers do, so the price more accurately reflects the actual costs to farm. Until the subsidies are given to small farmers, the costs will always be higher for them.

    • @IsaacNewton1966
      @IsaacNewton1966 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheFarmacy The price is that much because people are willing to pay that much. Farmers are not throwing away milk because they can't get the $10 a gallon out of it. Health nuts have made it seem like it's the only way to go, so people think it's worth it. It cost about $1.65 a gallon to produce a gallon of raw milk. But people are willing to pay for "fresh wholesome" product, and farmers are willing to take the huge profit. Simple.

    • @FidelisLawnService
      @FidelisLawnService 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Issac Newton bro how did you come up with that number? That may be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Do you know how much a purebred A2-A2 jersey cost? Plus vet care. Infrastructure costs, hay for n the winter, milking equipment and so on. Not to mention the time it takes to properly and ethically care for the animals and the safe handling of the milk. So unless you would have farmers do it for free, your numbers are WAY off. It sounds like you may be part of the problem and not the solution.

    • @FidelisLawnService
      @FidelisLawnService 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Issac Newton are you talking about this piece?-“I learned that, on average, it costs farmers approximately $18.73 to produce 100 pounds (or about 11.5 gallons) of milk. Yet, farmers were receiving only around $15.21 when they sold this same amount of milk-a LOSS of more than three dollars.”
      There is no way those numbers are correct for every farmer. ESP if there is a mortgage or lease payment involved that may be what they are spending in extra fees or something, but absolutely no way that’s all of the farms expenses. The point of service is that service is worth what people are willing to pay. That being said, I don’t condone price gouging on any product. But if I can pay a few more bucks a gallon for healthy and nutritious raw milk as opposed to cheaper, disgusting milk from sick and oftentimes mistreated cows, I will. Here in VA, we have to get our milk through a herd share. Meaning we pay a little more because we are actually paying for a portion of the cow. If people can’t afford a 10$ gal of milk I would suggest they buy their own cow and they will quickly see it’s worth every penny.
