    IMPORTANT: "Save As STL" has been renamed "Save As Mesh". More info here: productdesignonline.com/tips-and-tricks/how-to-export-an-stl-file-from-fusion-360/

      Is there a way to change the "save as mesh" defaults? New drawings/bodies seem to default to 3MF and I can't seem to find anything under preferences to change it to default to STL (ASCII)

      @@heheitme Not at the moment, but that's great feedback (I'll share with the F360 team)! :)

    Hi
    When I open the thorn as STL in CURA is it opens me another window and doesn't put the second file in the same window
    2 more questions please
    1. If I create a name, it saves each letter separately
    How can I save an STL file of the entire name together?
    2. Can I add sketches of the name? For example, connect letters the way I want?
    Thank you so much for the work you do
    I'm considering working with this software because of you

      Unfortunately, the Cura opening a second window is a known issue that happens on Windows OS. I'm on a Mac, which is why I didn't know that was a thing until everyone started commenting on it. You'll have to save the additional files and import them to Cura manually.

    In Fusion 360 v.2.0.9011 I don't see that Save as STL option anywhere. Is the export only option in newest version?

    Why does the file end up being way bigger in the slicer? The dimensions are off and there's no way to measure in cura

    Would be great if I could buy you a cup of Joe but your donate system does not have Paypal. Any plans on adding it to your donate site?

      Hi, Rud Dog. Thanks for the kind thought. Unfortunately the "Buy Me a Coffee" site doesn't allow me to have PayPal as an option (not sure why). I'll have to look into other sites or options! Cheers, Kevin :)

    All of the sudden the "save as stl" is gone, the menu option has just vanished...any idea?

      They renamed it "Save as Mesh" to include the new 3MF file option - productdesignonline.com/tips-and-tricks/how-to-export-an-stl-file-from-fusion-360/

    Still learning although I export to STL almost every other day. Have noticed that the file names get a bit long when you over right a previous export?

    • @ProductDesignOnline
      @ProductDesignOnline  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, John. On my end, when I "Save as STL" from the component, it saves as the components name. When I re-save it as STL, it prompts whether I want to overwrite it or not. When I click to confirm it overwrites the file and has the same file name. What crazy file names are you seeing on your end?
      To confirm - are you right-clicking on components or top level assemblies in the Fusion 360 Browser? or are you going to File > Export? Cheers, Kevin :)

      @@ProductDesignOnline of course as soon as I raise the topic it gets fixed in the current update.
      Last month it would add the job name to the end of the file name you select to replace. But not now.

    what is the difference between binary and ascii format?

    • @ProductDesignOnline
      @ProductDesignOnline  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andrea. Binary STL files are compressed and thus are a much smaller file size, which is why that's the default. There are a few programs out there that only accept ASCII. Most will accept Binary or both.
