  • How to make 3 very quick and easy stone effect cake boards!
A sandstone cake board is a great base for pirate themed cakes, beach cakes, flower pots etc. Grey stone work well for animal cakes, cakes that look like old boots etc, and a polished marble cake board is perfect for minimal wedding cake designs, handbag cakes, shoebox cakes… the possibilities are endless!

Wonderful! I like the way you use inexpensive and everyday tools to create the most amazing results. Thank you for sharing.
Please I would love a tutorial on wooden effect board and carving your puppies. Benson the sleeping puppy is one of my favourites.
    Thanks again.

I really enjoy watching all your tutorials! Have you made any cakes with a shape of moon and stars? If so, do you have a picture or video of it? You're amazing!

I liked them all but my favorite is the marble effect. I will give it a try sometime.

Excellent tutorial! Please, where do you purchase cake drums? Do you let your customers keep them or do they return them?
    How long do they last?
How far ahead can I make them?
Thank you! ~Jules in Rhode Island, USA

Awesome tutorial! How long do you think the covered boards would last? Could you make a bunch up and put them away for use later? Thanks! Susan from texas

      Thank you Susan!
It shouldn't be a problem, but they could get easily damaged if they are stacked so it's best to leave them flat on a surface.
I normally cover a cake board the night before, or just before I start work on a cake to ensure the board is as clean as possible.
If the boards are continuously exposed to steam (eg, they are stored in the kitchen) they can become sticky and shiny causing them to spoil slightly. I wouldn't recommend covering a cake board more than 3 days before you need it.
