Thanks for the tips!! I've been planning to buy a pair of leather boots and have been looking into the different ways of taking care of them. May I ask for your thoughts on two things?
    - Would the treatment affect the color of white color?
-What detergent do u use to wash away sa mud?

Hello hello buddy! The application of the oil I used (coconut oil) doesn't affect the colour of the black or white k-leather boots. The soap I use when hand washing is just normal powder soap without a whitener. :) thank you for your question

Is there any reason behind using coconut oil. I read some ads and been using mink oil. Wonder if there's a difference ?

Hey William, thanks for the question. Mink oil is definitely better. Coconut oil and mink oil differ significantly in composition and their effects on leather. Coconut oil, a plant-based oil, is rich in medium-chain fatty acids like lauric acid, providing light conditioning and antibacterial properties but only moderate penetration into leather. Solid at cooler temperatures and adds a "mild" water resistance, though it may darken lighter materials... In contrast, mink oil, derived from animal fat, contains palmitoleic acid, similar to the oils in animal skins, allowing it to deeply penetrate and soften leather. Mink oil provides superior conditioning and water resistance, making it ideal for heavy-duty use, though it’s typically more expensive and can go rancid if not stored properly. Hence, both are alternatives, coconut oil is more accessible, good and cheaper; if you have access to mink oil, it's the best option.

@@rodgedefender going rancid sounds appalling. no wonder my boots started giving off a weird smell.

sometimes mink oil makes your boots really damp/soggy like it's gotten weak..

I honestly never tried it, but whatever coconut oil you try, pls make sure it is just pure coconut oil and odourless.

Whenever I wash/clean the boots, about three times per month I'd say :)
