Definitely buying. It isn't just for sims 4, this is for the building and work for the future, sims 5. I am investing both in the gameplay of sims 4 and integrity of the future games. Hope they get more help.
Here's the info I've been patiently waiting for release for. Thank you for doing the research and putting this together, there aren't enough hours in the day to keep up with all of the content. I can near guarantee the version we've been seeing in Early Access is the release version. We will see updates next round and maybe then I'll add this to my game. I REALLY want to add this to my game and I'm disappointed at how buggy the actual gameplay is. No wonder many of the EACN Simmers aren't showing off tons of gameplay. James Turner pushed for a 99 apartment lot also, uploaded today, for any folks who want another look at the gameplay from that perspective.
you're welcome. It was quite an experience and I found everyone had different things they noticed, and yes! this is all early access, so there's potential for some bugs to be fixed, ideally and yep and think regardless you're going to want to stay a bit under that limit
This is why the sims 4 should bring back the fury system back from the sims 2. Anger was actually directed at specific sims through a red timer on their profile rather the sim feeling angry in general. They would come to your house, kick your bins, make you sick, steal stuff and they would keep doing it until you fixed the relationship Also with the whole secrets being random, this was my biggest reason why milestones should have been in the base game, in the sims 2 when sims were sharing secrets, it was acc based on the other sims memories, for example in my save file don lothario left casandra goth at the atler and they both got a memory for it. The other townies would share it around as their faces and the broken engament icon was shown during speech bubbles. Since milestones are locked behind GT they can't use it anywhere else.
that was a pretty good system I sometimes wonder about the coding limitations of sims 4 vs purposeful design. I suspect things I am not pleased with often are a combination of both. I also kinda liked the gossip system from sims 3, even if imperfect, it's pretty fun
@SimmerErin don't get me wrong, I love the quirkiness of these secret and the overall pack, but the previous games balanced the weird charm and the realistic drama equally. This is defo gonna be a slap to the face for the realistic players 😭
Unfortunately, I think most packs are not worth their price... there is always a "compromise" or a real neglection mainly concerning Gameplay and worlds. I think paranormal, tiny houses, parenthood, vampires and werewolves were quite decent packs for their offered prices.
Agreeable on how they price them vs how much specific things such as features are included. They'd have to at least go above and beyond their normal work to appease me, imo. Bigger packs at $40, I'm not really willing to look too far into that number for salary of the average maxis programmer right now (eating) but I will later...
I was hoping the consequences would be more immediate, both for bad renters and bad landlords. That’s my biggest gripe with the game in general - you have to try SO hard to make a negative event happen, and even then the consequences don’t follow you. Burglars should have come to base game with this pack but the “bad things don’t happen in this game” mentality is, I think, why that didn’t happen.
I agree, and that's a very deeply rooted either issue or deliberate by design- and sometimes I'm not sure which it is. both, likely. I have met a fair few simmers who like it that way, but I personally very much like to see consequences as well as interesting autonomy that happens outside of what I directly control
@@SimmerErin I feel like the opt-in should be enough - I don’t know why they seem so dead set on making sure bad things don’t happen (or, what feels worse to me, making us confirm another ten times before said bad thing happens). The meteor death is a great example. Why are we getting a pop-up warning us about it, and then we still have to wait and wait? It all plays into the micromanagement feeling I get sometimes. I love the game, but this aspect drives me crazy!
Personally im going to wait until its about GP priced. For the little bit of gameplay we get, the small world, and limited lot sizes it would be a better value for me to wait. And that also hinges on once its out to all players and people start playing it with other DLC how the engine handles it all.
I wasn't thinking of getting this pack at release anyway (I don't think it's worth full price) but I hope most people don't buy it until these glitches are fixed. It has become a little bit of a routine for them to release packs with major bugs and glitches and it needs to stop. The only way we can make them know it's not okay is with our wallets.

I agree. DLC is pushed out with a large amount of bugs and glitches. You literally wouldn't see this kind of negligence with another gaming company the size of EA. I understand that bugs and glitches happen, but with EA's The Sims 4, it happens EVERY SINGLE TIME. It's gotten too old and too repetitive - a LOOONG time ago.. I've been gaming for over 20 years and I have never played / owned another game where every time there's an update or DLC made for said game, it comes along with multiple bugs/glitches/lag/issues etc. It's.. insane! And people still eat it up like it'll never be there after release. Personally, I've decided to save $40 until they fix a lot of the bugs and such, but we know how that works - it'll be about 2-3 years before the problems with this Expansion Pack are fixed and that's if we're lucky!
@@g.e131 umm have you seen current AAA Gaming. Release now, Patch later is becoming a fairly standard system. And I am talking serious gaps in completion, not a few glitches. I am not excusing EA, but it certainly is not just EA. Just search for ‘finish the game’ on youtube and you will see tons of other video rants about this issue across the gaming industry.
@@g.e131 Even though it's hard to admit, many simmers are addicted, and played into their marketing scheme. i guess sims team also seem didn't test or play this game enough (if they did play this, surely they would've encountered all these bugs) and focus more on marketing videos or aesthetics.

I know how thorough a lot of these creators are (even the ones I don't watch, I've seen their content pop up in TH-cam recommendations), so I know this must've taken quite a lot of time to watch, take notes, and synthesize into a cohesive video. I think you did an impeccable job crediting the creators you referenced each time you did so. Some of the ones you shared I watch regularly (EnglishSimmer, IronSeagull), and others only on occasion (Plumbella, Troi, James, LilSimsie, etc.). So some of the ones you covered that I hadn't seen their coverage for did introduce some glitches I wasn't aware of just yet. I am excited to get my hands on this pack EVENTUALLY, but I definitely agree with you that I don't think I'm personally willing to pay $40 for it, especially with all the current glitches and such. I will still probably wait for a substantial sale to purchase this pack. Honestly, the thing that makes me most excited is that Horse Ranch will have better sales after this pack drops because I am just waiting for that pack to be 50% off. 😂

Yes, and one caveat I forgot to add : they ofc were playing with no other dlc, and the issue is sometimes other dlc can add more bugs. I do hope they get sorted out.

Thank you for taking the time to put this all together! One thing I wish Early Acess creators showed a little more was how communal and immersive multi-lot living is. Like will we see tenants leaving their lots to go to work/school? If you invite a tenant over will they actually come visit from their apartment or spawn at the start of the building? How lively are shared spaces especially when you put stuff down for kids? My biggest hope for this pack is that it allows my sims to have more of a community rather than being isolated on their suburban lot. I might have to wait for mods to be updated to really see that though.
True! I barely saw any of that, but I do need to see if I can find some more creators that people may not know as well- perhaps they show it off more. It's good to bring up, because that is part of the appeal of the pack, and I didn't see much of it
it is very common in the lets plays to see a sample of foot traffic. I watched James Turner’s and Deligracy and Troi’s actual game play videos and it seems you do get a decent amount of traffic in the building, at least within sims 4 limits. When James Turner built his 100 sim unit, a bunch of sims were at the roof pool and hot tub. And there were constantly sims out in the common areas in his “hotel” play through. The night market was pretty lame for everyone I watched though. And potlucks seem hit or miss. Haven’t seen anyone play the pool party event yet.
Thanks, Erin, for this review of For Rent Pack. I think it's a given that we should expect some glitches with most new packs. I also don't expect any of them to get fixed before the pack release, but some will get addressed next year as an emergency fix or an update the comes before the next pack release. Also, some sim annoyances that you pointed out are imbedded in the base game code that was TS2. If you've played that when its Season pack came out, you would've noticed that Sims always reacted in awe when rain, snow, hail would fall. I've watched a few GC channels on this pack, and I thank you for pointing out other GCs I never heard about. Iron Seagull did point out in a livestream that he suspects load screen times were faster because he doesn't have other packs, CC, and MODs installed at the time.
Lol. I didn't even realize that the doors. Ot going down with half walls were a glitch. Not playing with Apts atm, but they don't go down in my current builds. Didn't know it was a glitch. But I honestly don't mind it.
To be honest, other people breaking unit rules and the tenant having to pay the consequences is realistic. Now with that said, I don't want sims in my home when I'm not there.
yeah, it is in a way. It's one where I'm unsure how I feel about it, but I could see it being a huge problem too, depending on how often it happens. It makes me wonder how often it would occur
LilSimsie also diidnt get paid for her tennants when she was playing. So, thats a bug concern between several EA creators not getting paid. Also- several of them commented on serious build buy mode lag for painting walls or doors etc.

Thank you for putting everything in one place, there are so many videos. I enjoy watching the lets play videos but I find videos like this and the English Simmer's the most helpful. There's also lag the simmers have whenever they were placing wallpaper, I don't build but that could get annoying fast so hope that's fixed. Simsie and James Turner got payed basically after two weeks and Simsie says she wasn't sure if it's a bug or how it's supposed to work but that's strange. I'm trying to be optimistic because sometimes they do fix things for release but other times things are released as is.

I did watched James Turner and Dr Gluon. James got paid once the free time period ended for the tenent. Still the glich when you enter the household and every sims is in the entrance, that's why the baby disappeared ( lol). But it doesn't look unplayable or broken like Wedding. @SimmerErin yeah, I watched Lilsimsie, and she didn't wait for the grace period to end. She did find very few lots, I agree. Smaller than Strangerville is not good, but it did seem like an expansion pack because it changed completely the way to build 😀
That glitch where babies show up on the edge of the neighborhood with their needs tanking into the red whenever anyone travels is sort of game breaking, but I think it’s coming from the base game

@@valerielee9875 I am sorry to hear. I know that it's been really hard for console players. There only two ways to get them to change....1 - is they lose a lot of players to other simulation games and 2 Sims players stop buying games.
James Turner did a 100 unit video as well. You may want to check that out also. He did a potluck and all the neighbors dropped the food in the unit. Not at the pool or whatever. So That is another thing that is wonky. Generally those would be planned at pools or shared areas in real life. Not inside a studio apartment. The mold shower reset may not be a glitch. If you wash it all off it can't affect the sim until it gets bad again. Dr Gluon did exterminate a sim with mold. He just let them walk around and let the timer run out. I have been watching alot of early access as well and I have been thinking that the pack wasn't well thought out (again).

I haven't seen a "cure" for the mold, and all other ailments in the game have a cure or med or whatever so I guess that might be the reason.@@SimmerErin
There's also a specific pool party event which might draw Sims to the pool. But yeah, the potluck seems to happen at your house as opposed to the 'shared' space which actually both does and doesn't make sense. It isn't specific to the apartment residence. You could in-game have a potluck for your work friends or your club members. And if you don't have large shared spaces and your sim's 'apartment' is a roomy full first floor or a whole townhouse on the lot, plenty of room for a potluck. But if your rental is barely more than a bedroom and there's a big common area in your building more suitable for a group gathering, IRL real people would congregate there. You can also do potlucks at a normal house, but by default in a normal house the whole house is your event space. So I think they just didn't take that into account and it's default programmed for 'your house' like every other event (even if that is a shoebox apartment) as opposed to 'a shared space on the lot' (which may or may not exist in every situation) and it would be nice if they at least gave a shared spaces vs in-unit option for potlucks at multi-lots because in some multi-lots (like townhouses) an apartment could handle a whole party. And honestly all events need to be updated for this. If I have a toddler playdate and there is a shared play space with a grill and picnic tables, I want to have my event there. Not in my apartment.
It's a Sims pack, bugs and glitches are a 'feature'. 😁 Even so, with a pack this complex there was always going to be notable ones. It will be interesting to see what general players find as the Game Changers are a limited group. I haven't heard of any game breaking bugs yet, so that might be a plus. It still amazes me how much they fail with matching swatches, especially as it's such an easy thing to avoid.
My experience is people will decide if they don't like something, then it's a bug. A few times when I sims refuse to obey the player, the argument is it's a bug rather than what players want. 🤷♀️
I read a comment from somebody who im guessing is south east Asian and apparently "the not matching swatches thing" is something they actually do over there but I guess for the sim4 it is annoying though
@@keojiabrown6807 Yeah, that may apply to them, other countries too but it's long been an issue with the Sims 4 since it launched, whatever the world setting is.
In his mold death video, James Turner's sim seemed to die really fast. I wonder if the difference is how big a living space you have, which would be realistic. (Less space + same mold = more contamination). Plumbella also mentioned some serious lag in placing wallpaper that had her ready to rage quit.

Even though University has dorms, it'd also be awesome to make apartments for college students on the outer areas so that we can fit more of our university-going sims. I'm not too upset about the rabbitholing, it's just disappointing. I'm just glad they gave us a feature to build rentable spaces, multiple household lots. It's just neat. I just hope that some time in the future they could rewire some of the things they implemented in the base game itself, fix up the connections within the packs, fix the bugs, and then the game would be awesome sauce once it's completely overhauled officially. There's just tiny bits and bobs that need tweaking here and there, some more big than others but still doable. I believe in them to get this done.

Yeah, this is what I was afraid of. The loading screen thing I’m irritated with in City Life, so it’s not surprising it’s carrying over and not being addressed in a different way. The aspirations have never been a big deal to me, as they’re either just a checklist/tutorial and nothing actually impactful to the sims themselves. Just another mood buff/debuff and call it a day. All the object “interactions” ever seem to be is an idle animation trigger and nothing else either. Filler material to add to the game checklist. The secrets and breaking and entering is the most frustrating things to me. Secrets should be based on something such as a sim doing something and being caught (knowingly or unknowingly), which becomes a secret. Y’know something actually impactful to them. Cheating on a spouse, stealing, getting into a fight, getting into arguments, etc. that sort of thing. The fact they’re RANDOM is not a choice that makes sense gameplay-wise. BUT, the sims are so lobotomized as-is, I’m not sure how their system to process that info. Gossip should already be a thing in the game, but it’s all emotional reactions, nothing personal that dramatically changes relationships. Like life. The positives did kinda make me hopeful, but this’ll be a purchase when it’s on sale, and the bugs have been addressed, whether by the devs or mods.
Has anyone run into the issue of being stuck on the loading screen once you click to resume your current game on the main menu? The plumbob will spin, the blurbs of info will load, the music plays, and even the music typically indicating that it's all loaded and you're about to be in game--but then nothing happens and it just continues to load. I've tried everything, I shouldn't have been so optimistic haha! Thank you for this thorough video!!
Welcome! sometimes a script mod can cause an infinite loading screen. Scarlet Realm or Sims VIP have lists of outdated mods. If it is a mod, you'll need to not only remove it but also clear your cache
The thing about The Sims 4 bugs is The Sims 3 on PC/Mac also had bugs and broken gameplay features. I think why the bugs became noticeable is because The Sims 4 has a larger install base especially with console version plus it has been out a long time. I'd imagine the shower glitch could be exploited to reset the timer defeating the purpose of a time limit. The one thing I didn't like about The Sims 4's traits is how a number of them _also_ give Sims negative moodlets if they don't do things appropriate for the train, even Get Together's Clubs will "punish" you if a long time has passed since a Gathering. Dance Machine will even give you an unblockable Bored moodlet. At least the ones that cause Tense can be blocked if you have the Carefree Trait.
sims 3 has bugs too, as does sims 2, for sure, all sims games have. I think sims 4 on console is especially notable and yeah sims 4 also has so much content at this point
One glitch/bug that I don't think you mentioned is that placiing wallpaper was very laggy in both plumbella and lilsimsie's videos! I think it was to the point where plumbella said she was near tears with the frustration? Which... is not good and a little worrying
sorry I didn't mention lag. It's interesting, because I can't understand what would cause that, aside from pushing units to max a bit worrying as they all surely have pretty strong computers
I appreciate your hard work on this video. I don't watch game changers or whatever they are called now. I like your over all review and I did purchase the pack but discounted. Hopefully they fix some of the bugs before the launch day and within the next few weeks. I really think I am looking forward more to building different apartments and seeing if I could be a landlord to them all. Here's to hoping it's not too buggy!

Will you be making more videos like this for future packs? I actually love how you did research from different videos and play throughs of our favourite content creators, pointing out the bugs and issues! It’s SO well done and very informative, definitely something I’ll watch before buying any pack.
Here’s bugs/some issues I’ve encountered while playing so far: 1. Landlord isn’t even a landlord. They were and then eventually it said they didn’t own the rental property in the menu part where you can see all the tenants and units. Events still happen and my sim is expected to take care of them but as a result they cannot see who is in the unit and where. When I attempt to “buy the unit” it says it’s already owned. Maintenance still is expected. 2. Celebrities living on rental lots, big hoard of paparazzi constantly. Forgot who Brytani Cho is and had her live on my lot. She has been a nuisance. 3. Aspiration goals not being checked off despite them being completed. 4. Switching from residential to residential rental or vise versa breaks the lot. I used the 40x30 lot to build a big rental on but got super tired and decided to download one off the gallery. The button to place the lot was greyed out and it said something along the lines of “cannot place residential rental lot on residential lot.” I tried changing them back and forth a few times and exiting out and it hasn’t worked to fix it. 5. Cannot use build features at all. Sometimes when I’m trying to build a rental it would not let me even place a wall or wallpaper even if it’s unowned and no tenants exist on the lot. It says cannot make changes to unowned area or something. 6. Extremely laggy build mode. I keep getting tremendous lag whenever I have to select a wall, paint a wall, or anything. My game even crashed when I tried to bulldoze a rental lot while I was having the issue where I can’t build walls. Even rotating around the camera lags it so bad I just give up.

Random nitpick of mine, but am I the only one who’s ever noticed how every single simmer who gets a review copy of a pack says the same like at the beginning about how “this is an early access version of the pack, this does not represent the final version”? Are they contractually bound to say that? Because it feels a little too coincidental that ALL of them say the same thing in their reviews. But my other issue with them saying that is do they actually believe it? You know how many times I’ve watched the same people you mentioned review a pack and point out the bugs and glitches in it, and say that it’s not the final version we will get…and spoiler alert it usually is? My wedding stories was a great example of that. All of the simfluencers who got early access all said it was an early access version and it didn’t represent the final product we would get, and then lo and behold, almost every bug they reported on was in the version we got because it was the SAME version. Why do they always say it’s not the final version we will get, when I feel like 75% of the time whatever bugs they bring up, we will also see in our copies? Plus they usually get the early access like a couple days before public release. Do they really believe that is enough time to get player feedback from every simfluencer who tries the pack out, test the bugs that are reported to see if they can consistently reproduce it on their end, create a fix, test that fix, and then send out the patch for certification on consoles to be approved and released, all within the span of a couple days? I mean come on now…
Given they say the same phrase- yes. I would suspect that is part of the agreement, absolutely Keep in mind, they also are not permitted to play with other dlc when they test. I can't really blame content creators for this.
Testing isn’t the purpose of giving the creator network access, it’s marketing. It would be nice if they would fix those bugs the creators find before official release, but in all likelihood they already have a schedule for that, with the majority of their time before and after the release already budgeted.
Great video as always. Bugs and empty worlds I feel are a part of Sims 4. The EA Creators have done a great job and given there honest thoughts on the pack.

At first For rent didn't interest me at all but I saw some reviews about the Realistic Real Estate mod and it looked fun being a landlord then I watched the build/buy items reviews For rent and decided to buy it. I've watched some let's play, early reviews but when I saw all the bugs and problems that comes with it and might never be fixed, I changed my mind again. I was mostly a player because of the lack of gameplay over the years (I played Sims 1, 2, 3 and 4 all on pc), so I became more of a builder and now it seems there's lagging just for putting up wallpaper in build mode. Unbelievable!!! I must say the mold, the new functional objects, the part-time job, aspirations and new lots are tempting. I might play with the mod until glitches are resolved or wait for a sale.
and lag is tricky and maybe harder to resolve over your typical bug. sure, I expect lag when you push limits etc but what worries me is lag occurring with only the one pack installed and on likely high/ higher end computers

Playing in apartments is not fun to me because of the door bug so maybe I’ll wait until that is fixed I don’t know. And as a storyteller the huge empty worlds are a big big negative to me I’d much rather have a small world that feels alive (nevermind that we got only 9 lots to build on but still a vast space of nothing but shells lol). But as a longtime player I’m excited about the nostalgic stuff that plumbella mentioned I hope they keep that up🙏🏼
Very welcome Yeah, I think that was a huge complement coming from her- and I was happy to hear a bit of chaos and whimsy comes with this pack, at very least also, regarding bugs, some may pop up when played with other dlc, which is another consideration
One of the things that I'm unhappy about is the flat 50 simolian tax per unit. That really limits your options when trying to be a landlord for profit. I've been wondering if this (with simmers setting rent below $50) and the rent being paid weekly after bills is an explanation for the rent bug.
Is the pack worth the price… no. It’s a gamepack. Is it worth it for my rotational family gameplay where I will be a tenant most of the time, yeah. So I am sold. None of the small things bother me. James turner also built a 100 unit building and had the same experience, laggy in build mode. Not totally terrible in Live Mode. But in live mode the game is also regulating the amount of active sims visible at any point and also showing 1 unit at a time and the exterior building shell only. Also the free real estate cheat is for residential homes, isn’t it? If you buy a whole building already designated ad an apartment it’s now a bussiness purchase, like a vet clinic or something, right? And if you rent an apartment in the building you are renting, not buying?? Not 100% sure that’s a glitch so much as not applicable to the cheat.
yeah I understand your reasoning yeah, someone else said so ha I can't say I am surprised. Even the best computers I would have suspected that would happen- while performance does have many variable, the sims 4's engine itself has limits too. Not that I feel a 100 unit would be enjoyable anyway! Hmm, idk, someone said one content creator did get the cheat to work
Still listening but already thank you for this video Erin! I will say..I’m so over the sims 4 being so watered down, having no real challenge, and practically just being “rated G”. I feel like the sims 4 isn’t really apart of the sims franchise. It’s a separate game in my opinion. Also I will say, the game is built on a crappy foundation so there will always be profound limitations 😢
I do often debate myself on this, but I think it's a combination yes of both the base game foundation and deliberate design choices. I'm not sure where the balance is, but in short: I think the core coding can be limiting, but I also see certain inclinations- such as valuing control and leaning towards positive outcomes.

I’m pretty excited for the pack, because I love making apartments and they’ve never been functional until now. The only thing I’m upset about is the world, and I also would like to see how the Sims interact with the shareable areas of the apartment. Especially with laundry. I’m wondering if Sims will actually do their laundry or if Sims will actually go to the gym if you put down a gym things like that.
Thanks for putting this all together and bringing up the apartment broken walls and doors . I did watch itsmetroi and how hard it was to get below 3 stars. Yeah the dead worlds are a major problem for me.
& honestly, I feel the 'dead world' thing is purposeful in design- sadly it may be due to the core engine itself, so I don't think it's going to change much perhaps doing something a bit different, or, as Lilsimsie said, placing builds closer together. Admittedly, dead areas were a complaint in sims 3 - but that was more that sims didn't auto spawn, in conjunction with an open world. And of course, there are diff things that make a world feel dead to people- sims, interactivity etc
That's a big problem with the builds so spaced out. I think they went with these big districts to try for an open world feel. What's the point if it dead. I didn't like Sim 3 at all, being a rotation player didn't work well and the open world just didn't do it for me. They don't route the sims threw the deco worlds. I noticed first in the wedding world where the stalls are, they route then to walk right pass it. In Cottage Living they do route threw the deco buildings, but I truly believe that map was made prior from the original crew that already had them routing in the village then EA let them go a few years back one remind and he quit on his own. This game has turn into a totally different set up at this point for whatever the reason. I don't think I'll be buying anymore maybe if a new stuff pack comes out now and then, with stuff pack it adds to the game but the worlds and bugs that get added and never fix I've had enough. All good things must come to an end at some point. Let's put it this way Sims 4 had seen it's better days time to let it rest in peace.
Simsie also had MAJOR lagging in build mode, specially when it came to painting walls. I also just saw that Dr Ashley got early access, but had such a bug issue she couldn't use it and no one was able to fix it before access ended. And the secrets are random, I believe a Guru said there were 30 random secrets and "a few" others that are specific to Sims... I imagine it's some of the native sims.. I think Simsie even learned the SAME secret for 2 different sims, within her 4.5 hour play thru. :(
For the not being paid rent glitch I think some of the simmers just didn’t wait long enough to receive the rent. When i watched some lets plays it seems that the rent is received like a full day after the grace period
hmmm now that is interesting! I'll go back potentially and see if I can figure out if that could have been their problem. That would be great if it was only that- I'm honestly not sure though
yeah, I should have added caveats too - it's easy access with these bugs BUT -they were also not playing with other packs- and other packs can make additional bugs pop up
I am not buying it ( for now), but not because i don't want it. I see so many things in it that would fit my playstyle, i just can't afford it due to life and everything breaking that i touch, including my car 😢 but i am excited about this ep. ( I was not excited about horse ranch, so that will be a pack that i'll buy much later.)

Love this kinda vid! Especially since you’re not part of the creator network so you don’t feel like you have anything to lose by being critical of a pack. Sure those other creators aren’t paid to talk about the packs, but you still get the sense that they always try to soften the blow of their critiques on packs because I’m assuming they don’t want to be removed from the creator network. Still a form of bias in my book.
I'm not surprised about them having the animation for these new traits, like the snoop one being done in some weird way, I have noticed how they tend to have the animations for any of the traits or the special ones for occults and the elderly be over the top and happening way too often or just with no good reason for it happening! Which is why I actually find them all annoying, and would prefer they didn't just have them happening autonomously all the time, maybe let us choose whether to have them doing whatever the animation is or is for! I also figured that a lot of these things would be buggy, and I bet they still will when the pack is released! I always wish they would actually show game play themselves with various packs with it and even with all packs, so those of us who spent 100s of dollars on the all the packs would know what to expect! To be honest I am kind of scared to get this pack, because of what Horse Ranch has already done to my game, all the glitches just in CAS alone makes it hard to play, but there are also strange things happening in live mode too, and most of them started with Horse Ranch! I mean after getting it, I eventually had to uninstall my game and start over, and I am so afraid this one will do something to it again, and I will have to do the same thing! Oh and I am very interested in the pack, I am just afraid of whatever new glitches it might also add to my game! The gameplays I am waiting to see are from the Game Changers who are like me and have all the packs, because to me that will tell the most!
yeah ha they do overdo it a bit. I do know I see a lot of people saying we don't have enough animations- perhaps it is in part in response to that. It's tricky ofc to find a balance
This is a tough decision. I've added this video to one of my playlists (which I watch in shuffle regularly) to use for reference if I consider buying the pack in the future.
I agree that the stream wasn't enough either, and that's why I watched early access too@@SimmerErin but I will say my mind was changed from a hard no, to a yes. I think I like the business aspect of it more so. I want to put my mogul sim to task and see how she manages.

Thank you for this, it's very interesting and helpful. Well, I'm not a big fan of apartment living. I played it for a while in ts2, but after a time, I just went back to single dwelling homes. I always appreciate new build mode options and items, so it's never a waste of money to add new content to my game, that was true in ts2, ts3 and now 4. I'll pick it up at some point, but maybe not right away, but that may not be true, lol. I have been playing 4 a lot lately, so I'll reserve my rights to change my mind. Thank you for covering this. All sounds confused. I am disappointed about the world size, the lots and it concerns me how buggy it seems to be. Also so many game changers were making pre builds for the new pack all the time. It has burned my interest out. Meh!. I just want my fairies game pack 😂 😊
There actually weren't any early access creators making builds for the ep this time so you prefer they don't, and EA does? No problem! Bug wise, I think the key will be if they work any of these out, if they are all truly bugs, and how this pack interacts with other dlc
Great video, Erin! I will probably buy the pack tomorrow on release day, but mostly because it creates the ability for me to make a village (on a 64/64 lot) and play rotationally around the village all while increasing neighbor to neighbor interaction and that is where the real value lies for me. Also, we can finally recreate Stardew Valley in the Sims and do the Stardew Valley challenge for real!! (Sometimes I feel like I play this game way differently than the average simmer)...
I don't know if it's an bug,but the rent value and actual rent are different and it wouldn't be an big problem if it didn't set some of my units rent to over 3 billion simolians and the name I gave the lot and its units changes back to the original lot name. Also you can only place rentals on lots that an current rental is placed and unless I'm doing something wrong or missing something This is by far th most annoying thing Ive discovered in the pack because it means I can't place rentals from the gallery unless I have an already placed rental.
No mind-changing revelations for me. But since I have a PC, I can wait for the modders to improve on it, as they usually do. Whether that is enough to make me buy it remains to be seen. I still don't have the Wedding or High School packs, for instance, even though modders have fixed most bugs. If there are mods that add gameplay, though, I may get it. To buy it without mods, based on what I've seen so far, they need to slash the price at least by half.
Yeah I like the secrets feature. But it needs an update in the future or mods. Because for their to only be 30 random secrets that have nothing too with your sims personality, that sucks. And 30 is not the many, I mean if you have 60 or More sims in the game likely a lot of them are going to have the same secrets. I think it’s a cool feature but I don’t think it was thought out or planned hardly at all. It feels Like a last minute feature they decided to add to make the expansion feel bigger.
yes, if you use it much, it'll get repetitive pretty quickly.. and it's a shame that it's just entirely random. feature like that had so much potential
@@SimmerErin recently I've been playing in w.c and newcrest comparing them to the horse and this; they have more lots but they aren't space out as much and the set dressing isn't in the main playable areas and I always see sims walking about. I have another save playing in Tartosa using the HSH stuff pack and it's the same 6 customers in rotation even though they world is filled with sims 😭
Thanks for compiling all this into one video, it definitely helps confirm that for me, this pack isn't worth it at full price considering the bugs paired with ea's track record of not fixing bugs (dine out, wedding stories) and lack of depth in both the renting and East Asian aspects.
As the others on here I am quite grateful and indebted to you for the research and the content that you provide and the idea of roping in some thoughts from the other TH-camrs what a masterful idea. At this particular moment I'm not spending any more money on this game until next year I have loads of stuff that I haven't even begun to approach in terms of custom content let alone the depths of some of the mods that I've added and as well as the fact that this pack doesn't look like it's finished yet. But at least I'm forewarned about what's upcoming and for that I am quite glad thank you. EA has brought it on themselves that I will never buy anything full price from them again. So until I can find it on sale I certainly will not be adding it to my library. I used to run to the store for a full week in anticipation of the next pack coming out back when Sims 2 was still a thing and now I'm so Jaded by this whole experience of Entertainment Arts that I really can't wait for the next great thing to come along, because they're draining my patience.
I very much appreciate the kind comment, and, always, I am glad to hear anything I do can be even somewhat helpful. I felt the stream did not do enough to provide a full picture of the pack. Honestly, knowing things (minus kits) always have a sale eventually is nice- and you get the advantage of seeing the full picture of bugs and if there are fixes for said bugs or not
I find it the first bug interesting. I haven't played with apartments but in the other building i don’t have that issue at all. The 3rd glitch (the cheat) was working for Lilsimsie. I guess in the end it will all depend of how we play our game. Just hope most of the bugs (at least the pay rent and paiting walls) desapear when release 🤞
Maybe the bugs will be fixed, but I'm leaning more towards a patch next week. Also how even if the gurus honestly said thx to the game changers, bugs have been found and they hope to delay release just by a week, the community would be just as livid as if the bugs are present and will be fixed in a week. 🤷♀️
@SimmerErin Yes, especially since they all just had base game and the new expansion, so the game wasn't heavy or anything.. maybe the computers have something to do with it. Some will run better than others. There are a lot of glitches on Twitter that people complain about when I haven't had the same issues on my game
@AutobotSimmer that I agree. People would totally understand delaying the release to fix those big bugs . Having those glitches still happening after launch, people will be furious..
I bought the pack already and everything seems so like lackluster.. like the “city” area w the markets is such a disappointment. It’s like two clickable stands and rabbit hole fish market. I already ran into multiple bugs and had to move every tenant out of a house and start over.. not being able to edit homes if occupied is very frustrating to say the least… the world is pretty but tiny.. city area is major disappointment…
Don't expansion packs usually come with a base game update/new feature? Unless I missed something? They could have even just added pool parties to the base game, that would have been nice

Maintenance events, snooping, breaking/ entering, lore in the world, marbles, hopscotch, a new career, new traits and aspirations, negotiating/ strikes, potlucks and pool parties- these would be the main gameplay additions
I don't think we got that mailbox shown in the trailer on the wall of apartment lobby. Edit: I found it, Ms. Gryphi's build buy video was very thorough.
From watching the videos, I had the feeling that the TH-camrs didn't realize that the rent is *only* paid on "Monday" no matter how long the Sim has lived in the apartment. Lilsimsie was repeatedly saying (in more than one video) that her landlord was never getting paid. But she had to go back and insert a bit explaining that the landlord did eventually get paid (and was paid a lot.) From watching, it appeared that they didn't play through a Monday, so of course they wouldn't get paid. So, it's not clear if it is truly a bug or lack of understanding on the part of the player. Aspirations are something that is *very* player-specific. For example, LilSimsie said that she thinks of aspirations as something that should take a lifetime to complete and should be more like TS3 (where you're expected to only have one in a Sim's lifetime.) I have a *completely* different take on it. I *hated* TS3 aspirations because I feel that they are not realistic at all. While I'm sure that there are some people who only have one single "aspiration" in their life, there are many people who have several aspirations all at the same time. In TS3, you lost progress on any aspiration if you switched aspirations. In TS4, you can switch around and rotate between aspirations. I much prefer doing that. And while the aspirations do have you try out many different aspects of the game (which I've seen people refer to as being "like a tutorial"), I like that. How else would they have so many aspirations? I do a *lot* of switching around. For instance, the current teens in my Legacy game had the "Goal Oriented Aspiration." But while I was waiting for them to have a "career" day, I had them working on the "Nerd Brain" aspiration. They finished that, and went on to work on the "Computer" aspiration. They got that mostly done, but can't do more until they're adult, so they worked on the "Soulmate" aspiration (to the point where they can't do more until they are adult.) Now they're working on "Collector". (I wanted to do the fishing one, but it's winter. That will have to wait until Spring when it thaws.) But all of that is like my real life. I grew up wanting to be a doctor. I certainly "worked" on that, but I also "worked" on doing art, having a soulmate, and many other things. I didn't merely work on becoming a doctor. (I did "complete" that aspiration, but now that I'm retired, I have other "aspirations". I don't like having limitations on what I can "aspire" to in real life, and I don't want to have my Sims have limitations on that either.) I didn't expect this pack to have anything I would be interested in beyond B/B. I dislike the very idea of apartments. I don't play them in City Living or Eco Lifestyle. I doubt I'd want to play as a landlord. However, I'm finding a number of things that are interesting to me. I'm hoping to win one of the giveaways because of that. (Money is tight right now. Our family income is dependent on my husband's commissions and teaching opportunities, but we've had fewer than usual of those lately.)
I'm not sure, Plumbella seems to think it is a bug too, but it's possible it's a misunderstanding Ah I love sims 3 and sims 2 aspirations, many of sims 4 to me feel not very meaningful. you are correct of course, like many things, this is subjective. Sims 4 makes design choices that appeal to many and not others, simple as that

Can you give me some examples of aspirations from TS2 and TS3 that were more meaningful? I always thought they were far too limited. @@SimmerErin Oh, my, I just watched LilSimsie's "max unit" video and it was hilarious too. It was very different and really shows how the computer makes a big difference. While James did complain about how slow it was to build, LilSimsie (who probably doesn't have as good a computer as James) had a *lot* more problems. She also had more live-mode problems. James didn't really seem to have difficulty filling his vacancies, but LilSimsie could only do 2 to 3 vacancy fillings per attempt. However, I don't believe I need to see any more "max unit" videos, as hilarious as they are. (Yesterday, I watched a Dr. Gluon "100 Baby Challenge" video. It was as chaotic and wild as his videos usually are. Hilarious in another way!)
In all the many videos I saw earning money as a land lord was unreliable. And, the tenet/land lord events seemed to be disconnected from the gameplay making them frustrating random. Unless you want this pack for the building and cloths this seems to be a hard pass.
I was going to hold off on buying this just due to the cost, but now I feel a bit better about it haha - I think I will wait for these issues to get resolved by modders before I buy.

i love the idea of this gamepack, i just feel like the animations are lacking as usual, the gameplay isn't really there, and the conseqvences (or lack there of) makes it cringey. Might buy it when it hits a sale.
I think the central idea is indeed something that can be useful- and I think there are nice details- but it also doesn't feel like it's quite coming together

Biggest issue seems to be landlords not getting paid rent, and rent getting reset to $4 billion per week if you're playing as a tenant. These potentially break the pack.
yeah, this seemed to have been an issue in early access too. for the large rent, I heard starting a new save file may prevent it- but even if true, this wouldn't be ideal

In the game i don’t like having to make the sims do something for it to happen. Like the snoopying trait, the fact we have to make our sim snoping and enter a sim house is a big nooo for me...
oooooooh i don't know if i could buy it considering the infestation feature if they had a setting to disable it then maybe the death by flies was already a little too much for me
my sims are constantly trying to swim! it’s so annoying. i had to get rid of the pool outside my house because my vampire sim kept trying to off herself. i also had a retail store with a pool and everyone including the employees did nothing but swim. same thing happened with i had a beach restaurant in sulani. all the waiters neglected tables and just wanted to swim in the ocean.
I Don't thnk I am buying this pack. A. Price is to high. B. Heard thier is some bug issues with this game.IF so I don't doubt the EA/Sims team is looking into it. But also I am haveing too many issues with my as is and I play on console as my form of Player platform. I DO think the pack looks interesting but the asking price is NOT. Maybe.Maybe when it goes down. Rite now now I am still trying to work with game as is and crashing isuues. Been playing in other saves that seem so far seem ok to play in while others are NOT so ok. Playing in the ok saves seem to so far be going ok but the base game itself still has its problems too as well as some packs. I just WISH EA/Sims team would DO something MORE to FIX the messed up issues such as crashing and other bugs. But i guess that too is just hopeful wishing. Well I've only watched Dr. Gluon so far and the free real estate cheat worked for him. I've noticed there's now a debate about bugs or is it a feature. Also how bugs don't affect everyone which is annoying. Especially if it's a mystery why is a bug is happening and the 'do they even test?' argument. The challenge with features is everyone has different opinions on how they'd want it executed and consequences. From needs to be like ts2; consequences galore so like with snooping and blackmail should mean enemies with the sim and good luck repairing it. If it's the landlord, immediately get evicted etc while others are ok with what we have. The world....i was thinking what of it's bad so they can focus on gameplay? But of course that's a debate. From yhey still haven't added enough gameplay to this theory is excusing half assing work. So it's a typical ts4 pack that divides the community. I want to buy the pack, but the concern is if I'll even play.. I just want to convert a build I have right now so yeah kinda stupid for $40.

Definitely buying. It isn't just for sims 4, this is for the building and work for the future, sims 5. I am investing both in the gameplay of sims 4 and integrity of the future games. Hope they get more help.
Here's the info I've been patiently waiting for release for. Thank you for doing the research and putting this together, there aren't enough hours in the day to keep up with all of the content. I can near guarantee the version we've been seeing in Early Access is the release version. We will see updates next round and maybe then I'll add this to my game. I REALLY want to add this to my game and I'm disappointed at how buggy the actual gameplay is. No wonder many of the EACN Simmers aren't showing off tons of gameplay. James Turner pushed for a 99 apartment lot also, uploaded today, for any folks who want another look at the gameplay from that perspective.

Anger was actually directed at specific sims through a red timer on their profile rather the sim feeling angry in general. They would come to your house, kick your bins, make you sick, steal stuff and they would keep doing it until you fixed the relationship
Also with the whole secrets being random, this was my biggest reason why milestones should have been in the base game, in the sims 2 when sims were sharing secrets, it was acc based on the other sims memories, for example in my save file don lothario left casandra goth at the atler and they both got a memory for it. The other townies would share it around as their faces and the broken engament icon was shown during speech bubbles. Since milestones are locked behind GT they can't use it anywhere else.

I sometimes wonder about the coding limitations of sims 4 vs purposeful design. I suspect things I am not pleased with often are a combination of both.
I also kinda liked the gossip system from sims 3, even if imperfect, it's pretty fun
@SimmerErin don't get me wrong, I love the quirkiness of these secret and the overall pack, but the previous games balanced the weird charm and the realistic drama equally. This is defo gonna be a slap to the face for the realistic players 😭

Unfortunately, I think most packs are not worth their price... there is always a "compromise" or a real neglection mainly concerning Gameplay and worlds.
I think paranormal, tiny houses, parenthood, vampires and werewolves were quite decent packs for their offered prices.

Agreeable on how they price them vs how much specific things such as features are included. They'd have to at least go above and beyond their normal work to appease me, imo. Bigger packs at $40, I'm not really willing to look too far into that number for salary of the average maxis programmer right now (eating) but I will later...

For Rent is too expensive for what it is. This pack should be $20.
I was hoping the consequences would be more immediate, both for bad renters and bad landlords. That’s my biggest gripe with the game in general - you have to try SO hard to make a negative event happen, and even then the consequences don’t follow you. Burglars should have come to base game with this pack but the “bad things don’t happen in this game” mentality is, I think, why that didn’t happen.
I agree, and that's a very deeply rooted either issue or deliberate by design- and sometimes I'm not sure which it is. both, likely. I have met a fair few simmers who like it that way, but I personally very much like to see consequences as well as interesting autonomy that happens outside of what I directly control
@@SimmerErin I feel like the opt-in should be enough - I don’t know why they seem so dead set on making sure bad things don’t happen (or, what feels worse to me, making us confirm another ten times before said bad thing happens). The meteor death is a great example. Why are we getting a pop-up warning us about it, and then we still have to wait and wait? It all plays into the micromanagement feeling I get sometimes. I love the game, but this aspect drives me crazy!
Personally im going to wait until its about GP priced. For the little bit of gameplay we get, the small world, and limited lot sizes it would be a better value for me to wait. And that also hinges on once its out to all players and people start playing it with other DLC how the engine handles it all.

I wasn't thinking of getting this pack at release anyway (I don't think it's worth full price) but I hope most people don't buy it until these glitches are fixed. It has become a little bit of a routine for them to release packs with major bugs and glitches and it needs to stop. The only way we can make them know it's not okay is with our wallets.

I agree. DLC is pushed out with a large amount of bugs and glitches. You literally wouldn't see this kind of negligence with another gaming company the size of EA. I understand that bugs and glitches happen, but with EA's The Sims 4, it happens EVERY SINGLE TIME. It's gotten too old and too repetitive - a LOOONG time ago.. I've been gaming for over 20 years and I have never played / owned another game where every time there's an update or DLC made for said game, it comes along with multiple bugs/glitches/lag/issues etc. It's.. insane! And people still eat it up like it'll never be there after release. Personally, I've decided to save $40 until they fix a lot of the bugs and such, but we know how that works - it'll be about 2-3 years before the problems with this Expansion Pack are fixed and that's if we're lucky!
@@g.e131 umm have you seen current AAA Gaming. Release now, Patch later is becoming a fairly standard system. And I am talking serious gaps in completion, not a few glitches. I am not excusing EA, but it certainly is not just EA. Just search for ‘finish the game’ on youtube and you will see tons of other video rants about this issue across the gaming industry.
You are not wrong. People need to stop buying every pack released. That's why they continue to release half ass packs full of glitches and bugs.
@@g.e131 Even though it's hard to admit, many simmers are addicted, and played into their marketing scheme. i guess sims team also seem didn't test or play this game enough (if they did play this, surely they would've encountered all these bugs) and focus more on marketing videos or aesthetics.

I know how thorough a lot of these creators are (even the ones I don't watch, I've seen their content pop up in TH-cam recommendations), so I know this must've taken quite a lot of time to watch, take notes, and synthesize into a cohesive video. I think you did an impeccable job crediting the creators you referenced each time you did so. Some of the ones you shared I watch regularly (EnglishSimmer, IronSeagull), and others only on occasion (Plumbella, Troi, James, LilSimsie, etc.). So some of the ones you covered that I hadn't seen their coverage for did introduce some glitches I wasn't aware of just yet. I am excited to get my hands on this pack EVENTUALLY, but I definitely agree with you that I don't think I'm personally willing to pay $40 for it, especially with all the current glitches and such. I will still probably wait for a substantial sale to purchase this pack. Honestly, the thing that makes me most excited is that Horse Ranch will have better sales after this pack drops because I am just waiting for that pack to be 50% off. 😂

Yes, and one caveat I forgot to add : they ofc were playing with no other dlc, and the issue is sometimes other dlc can add more bugs. I do hope they get sorted out.

yes, I'm sorry I didn't remember to mention that.. maybe I'm sadly used to people saying there's lag in build mode ha. But that's not a great sign, because, like I said, if she's getting it with just the pack alone, may be a big issue for most

Thank you for taking the time to put this all together! One thing I wish Early Acess creators showed a little more was how communal and immersive multi-lot living is. Like will we see tenants leaving their lots to go to work/school? If you invite a tenant over will they actually come visit from their apartment or spawn at the start of the building? How lively are shared spaces especially when you put stuff down for kids? My biggest hope for this pack is that it allows my sims to have more of a community rather than being isolated on their suburban lot. I might have to wait for mods to be updated to really see that though.
True! I barely saw any of that, but I do need to see if I can find some more creators that people may not know as well- perhaps they show it off more. It's good to bring up, because that is part of the appeal of the pack, and I didn't see much of it
it is very common in the lets plays to see a sample of foot traffic. I watched James Turner’s and Deligracy and Troi’s actual game play videos and it seems you do get a decent amount of traffic in the building, at least within sims 4 limits. When James Turner built his 100 sim unit, a bunch of sims were at the roof pool and hot tub. And there were constantly sims out in the common areas in his “hotel” play through. The night market was pretty lame for everyone I watched though. And potlucks seem hit or miss. Haven’t seen anyone play the pool party event yet.
Thanks, Erin, for this review of For Rent Pack. I think it's a given that we should expect some glitches with most new packs. I also don't expect any of them to get fixed before the pack release, but some will get addressed next year as an emergency fix or an update the comes before the next pack release. Also, some sim annoyances that you pointed out are imbedded in the base game code that was TS2. If you've played that when its Season pack came out, you would've noticed that Sims always reacted in awe when rain, snow, hail would fall. I've watched a few GC channels on this pack, and I thank you for pointing out other GCs I never heard about. Iron Seagull did point out in a livestream that he suspects load screen times were faster because he doesn't have other packs, CC, and MODs installed at the time.
oh for sure, cc and mods and other packs are going to add to load times, and they can exacerbate lag too
Lol. I didn't even realize that the doors. Ot going down with half walls were a glitch. Not playing with Apts atm, but they don't go down in my current builds. Didn't know it was a glitch. But I honestly don't mind it.

To be honest, other people breaking unit rules and the tenant having to pay the consequences is realistic. Now with that said, I don't want sims in my home when I'm not there.
yeah, it is in a way. It's one where I'm unsure how I feel about it, but I could see it being a huge problem too, depending on how often it happens. It makes me wonder how often it would occur
LilSimsie also diidnt get paid for her tennants when she was playing. So, thats a bug concern between several EA creators not getting paid. Also- several of them commented on serious build buy mode lag for painting walls or doors etc.

Thank you for putting everything in one place, there are so many videos. I enjoy watching the lets play videos but I find videos like this and the English Simmer's the most helpful. There's also lag the simmers have whenever they were placing wallpaper, I don't build but that could get annoying fast so hope that's fixed. Simsie and James Turner got payed basically after two weeks and Simsie says she wasn't sure if it's a bug or how it's supposed to work but that's strange. I'm trying to be optimistic because sometimes they do fix things for release but other times things are released as is.

I did watched James Turner and Dr Gluon. James got paid once the free time period ended for the tenent. Still the glich when you enter the household and every sims is in the entrance, that's why the baby disappeared ( lol). But it doesn't look unplayable or broken like Wedding.

That glitch where babies show up on the edge of the neighborhood with their needs tanking into the red whenever anyone travels is sort of game breaking, but I think it’s coming from the base game

@@valerielee9875 I am sorry to hear. I know that it's been really hard for console players. There only two ways to get them to change....1 - is they lose a lot of players to other simulation games and 2 Sims players stop buying games.
James Turner did a 100 unit video as well. You may want to check that out also. He did a potluck and all the neighbors dropped the food in the unit. Not at the pool or whatever. So That is another thing that is wonky. Generally those would be planned at pools or shared areas in real life. Not inside a studio apartment. The mold shower reset may not be a glitch. If you wash it all off it can't affect the sim until it gets bad again. Dr Gluon did exterminate a sim with mold. He just let them walk around and let the timer run out. I have been watching alot of early access as well and I have been thinking that the pack wasn't well thought out (again).

There's also a specific pool party event which might draw Sims to the pool. But yeah, the potluck seems to happen at your house as opposed to the 'shared' space which actually both does and doesn't make sense. It isn't specific to the apartment residence. You could in-game have a potluck for your work friends or your club members. And if you don't have large shared spaces and your sim's 'apartment' is a roomy full first floor or a whole townhouse on the lot, plenty of room for a potluck. But if your rental is barely more than a bedroom and there's a big common area in your building more suitable for a group gathering, IRL real people would congregate there. You can also do potlucks at a normal house, but by default in a normal house the whole house is your event space. So I think they just didn't take that into account and it's default programmed for 'your house' like every other event (even if that is a shoebox apartment) as opposed to 'a shared space on the lot' (which may or may not exist in every situation) and it would be nice if they at least gave a shared spaces vs in-unit option for potlucks at multi-lots because in some multi-lots (like townhouses) an apartment could handle a whole party. And honestly all events need to be updated for this. If I have a toddler playdate and there is a shared play space with a grill and picnic tables, I want to have my event there. Not in my apartment.
It's a Sims pack, bugs and glitches are a 'feature'. 😁 Even so, with a pack this complex there was always going to be notable ones. It will be interesting to see what general players find as the Game Changers are a limited group. I haven't heard of any game breaking bugs yet, so that might be a plus.
It still amazes me how much they fail with matching swatches, especially as it's such an easy thing to avoid.

My experience is people will decide if they don't like something, then it's a bug. A few times when I sims refuse to obey the player, the argument is it's

I read a comment from somebody who im guessing is south east Asian and apparently "the not matching swatches thing" is something they actually do over there but I guess for the sim4 it is annoying though

In his mold death video, James Turner's sim seemed to die really fast. I wonder if the difference is how big a living space you have, which would be realistic. (Less space + same mold = more contamination). Plumbella also mentioned some serious lag in placing wallpaper that had her ready to rage quit.

Even though University has dorms, it'd also be awesome to make apartments for college students on the outer areas so that we can fit more of our university-going sims. I'm not too upset about the rabbitholing, it's just disappointing. I'm just glad they gave us a feature to build rentable spaces, multiple household lots. It's just neat. I just hope that some time in the future they could rewire some of the things they implemented in the base game itself, fix up the connections within the packs, fix the bugs, and then the game would be awesome sauce once it's completely overhauled officially. There's just tiny bits and bobs that need tweaking here and there, some more big than others but still doable. I believe in them to get this done.
certainly, they even said early in promoting the pack (gurus) one could use it for such a purpose. I do think it'll be fun to see how people use the system, and how creative people may get
Yeah, this is what I was afraid of. The loading screen thing I’m irritated with in City Life, so it’s not surprising it’s carrying over and not being addressed in a different way.
The aspirations have never been a big deal to me, as they’re either just a checklist/tutorial and nothing actually impactful to the sims themselves. Just another mood buff/debuff and call it a day.
All the object “interactions” ever seem to be is an idle animation trigger and nothing else either. Filler material to add to the game checklist.
The secrets and breaking and entering is the most frustrating things to me.
Secrets should be based on something such as a sim doing something and being caught (knowingly or unknowingly), which becomes a secret. Y’know something actually impactful to them. Cheating on a spouse, stealing, getting into a fight, getting into arguments, etc. that sort of thing.
The fact they’re RANDOM is not a choice that makes sense gameplay-wise. BUT, the sims are so lobotomized as-is, I’m not sure how their system to process that info. Gossip should already be a thing in the game, but it’s all emotional reactions, nothing personal that dramatically changes relationships.

The positives did kinda make me hopeful, but this’ll be a purchase when it’s on sale, and the bugs have been addressed, whether by the devs or mods.

Has anyone run into the issue of being stuck on the loading screen once you click to resume your current game on the main menu? The plumbob will spin, the blurbs of info will load, the music plays, and even the music typically indicating that it's all loaded and you're about to be in game--but then nothing happens and it just continues to load. I've tried everything, I shouldn't have been so optimistic haha! Thank you for this thorough video!!
Welcome! sometimes a script mod can cause an infinite loading screen. Scarlet Realm or Sims VIP have lists of outdated mods. If it is a mod, you'll need to not only remove it but also clear your cache
The thing about The Sims 4 bugs is The Sims 3 on PC/Mac also had bugs and broken gameplay features. I think why the bugs became noticeable is because The Sims 4 has a larger install base especially with console version plus it has been out a long time. I'd imagine the shower glitch could be exploited to reset the timer defeating the purpose of a time limit.
The one thing I didn't like about The Sims 4's traits is how a number of them _also_ give Sims negative moodlets if they don't do things appropriate for the train, even Get Together's Clubs will "punish" you if a long time has passed since a Gathering. Dance Machine will even give you an unblockable Bored moodlet. At least the ones that cause Tense can be blocked if you have the Carefree Trait.
sims 3 has bugs too, as does sims 2, for sure, all sims games have. I think sims 4 on console is especially notable and yeah sims 4 also has so much content at this point
One glitch/bug that I don't think you mentioned is that placiing wallpaper was very laggy in both plumbella and lilsimsie's videos! I think it was to the point where plumbella said she was near tears with the frustration? Which... is not good and a little worrying
sorry I didn't mention lag. It's interesting, because I can't understand what would cause that, aside from pushing units to max

I appreciate your hard work on this video. I don't watch game changers or whatever they are called now. I like your over all review and I did purchase the pack but discounted. Hopefully they fix some of the bugs before the launch day and within the next few weeks. I really think I am looking forward more to building different apartments and seeing if I could be a landlord to them all. Here's to hoping it's not too buggy!

Here’s bugs/some issues I’ve encountered while playing so far:
1. Landlord isn’t even a landlord. They were and then eventually it said they didn’t own the rental property in the menu part where you can see all the tenants and units. Events still happen and my sim is expected to take care of them but as a result they cannot see who is in the unit and where. When I attempt to “buy the unit” it says it’s already owned. Maintenance still is expected.
2. Celebrities living on rental lots, big hoard of paparazzi constantly. Forgot who Brytani Cho is and had her live on my lot. She has been a nuisance.
3. Aspiration goals not being checked off despite them being completed.
4. Switching from residential to residential rental or vise versa breaks the lot. I used the 40x30 lot to build a big rental on but got super tired and decided to download one off the gallery. The button to place the lot was greyed out and it said something along the lines of “cannot place residential rental lot on residential lot.” I tried changing them back and forth a few times and exiting out and it hasn’t worked to fix it.
5. Cannot use build features at all. Sometimes when I’m trying to build a rental it would not let me even place a wall or wallpaper even if it’s unowned and no tenants exist on the lot. It says cannot make changes to unowned area or something.
6. Extremely laggy build mode. I keep getting tremendous lag whenever I have to select a wall, paint a wall, or anything. My game even crashed when I tried to bulldoze a rental lot while I was having the issue where I can’t build walls. Even rotating around the camera lags it so bad I just give up.

Random nitpick of mine, but am I the only one who’s ever noticed how every single simmer who gets a review copy of a pack says the same like at the beginning about how “this is an early access version of the pack, this does not represent the final version”? Are they contractually bound to say that? Because it feels a little too coincidental that ALL of them say the same thing in their reviews. But my other issue with them saying that is do they actually believe it? You know how many times I’ve watched the same people you mentioned review a pack and point out the bugs and glitches in it, and say that it’s not the final version we will get…and spoiler alert it usually is? My wedding stories was a great example of that. All of the simfluencers who got early access all said it was an early access version and it didn’t represent the final product we would get, and then lo and behold, almost every bug they reported on was in the version we got because it was the SAME version. Why do they always say it’s not the final version we will get, when I feel like 75% of the time whatever bugs they bring up, we will also see in our copies? Plus they usually get the early access like a couple days before public release. Do they really believe that is enough time to get player feedback from every simfluencer who tries the pack out, test the bugs that are reported to see if they can consistently reproduce it on their end, create a fix, test that fix, and then send out the patch for certification on consoles to be approved and released, all within the span of a couple days? I mean come on now…
Given they say the same phrase- yes. I would suspect that is part of the agreement, absolutely
Keep in mind, they also are not permitted to play with other dlc when they test. I can't really blame content creators for this.
Testing isn’t the purpose of giving the creator network access, it’s marketing. It would be nice if they would fix those bugs the creators find before official release, but in all likelihood they already have a schedule for that, with the majority of their time before and after the release already budgeted.
Great video as always. Bugs and empty worlds I feel are a part of Sims 4. The EA Creators have done a great job and given there honest thoughts on the pack.

Thank you for the video! 😀This is very helpful. At first For rent didn't interest me at all but I saw some reviews about the Realistic Real Estate mod and it looked fun being a landlord then I watched the build/buy items reviews For rent and decided to buy it.
I've watched some let's play, early reviews but when I saw all the bugs and problems that comes with it and might never be fixed, I changed my mind again.
I was mostly a player because of the lack of gameplay over the years (I played Sims 1, 2, 3 and 4 all on pc), so I became more of a builder and now it seems there's lagging just for putting up wallpaper in build mode. Unbelievable!!!
I must say the mold, the new functional objects, the part-time job, aspirations and new lots are tempting.
I might play with the mod until glitches are resolved or wait for a sale.
and lag is tricky and maybe harder to resolve over your typical bug. sure, I expect lag when you push limits etc but what worries me is lag occurring with only the one pack installed and on likely high/ higher end computers
Thank you so much this was very informative. ❤While I’m excited about functional townhouses and the general expansion of building I decided to wait to purchase at least until some major bugs (to me) are fixed. Playing in apartments is not fun to me because of the door bug so maybe I’ll wait until that is fixed I don’t know. And as a storyteller the huge empty worlds are a big big negative to me I’d much rather have a small world that feels alive (nevermind that we got only 9 lots to build on but still a vast space of nothing but shells lol). But as a longtime player I’m excited about the nostalgic stuff that plumbella mentioned I hope they keep that up🙏🏼

One of the things that I'm unhappy about is the flat 50 simolian tax per unit. That really limits your options when trying to be a landlord for profit. I've been wondering if this (with simmers setting rent below $50) and the rent being paid weekly after bills is an explanation for the rent bug.
hm, honestly I am not sure. It's so hard to say why such bugs occur. I also hope that interacting with other dlc won't add too many other bugs
Isn’t the idea is for the tax to be according the quality of stuff and size you have in your houses? You can even make the tax to zero
Is the pack worth the price… no. It’s a gamepack. Is it worth it for my rotational family gameplay where I will be a tenant most of the time, yeah. So I am sold. None of the small things bother me. James turner also built a 100 unit building and had the same experience, laggy in build mode. Not totally terrible in Live Mode. But in live mode the game is also regulating the amount of active sims visible at any point and also showing 1 unit at a time and the exterior building shell only.
Also the free real estate cheat is for residential homes, isn’t it? If you buy a whole building already designated ad an apartment it’s now a bussiness purchase, like a vet clinic or something, right? And if you rent an apartment in the building you are renting, not buying?? Not 100% sure that’s a glitch so much as not applicable to the cheat.

yeah, someone else said so ha I can't say I am surprised. Even the best computers I would have suspected that would happen- while performance does have many variable, the sims 4's engine itself has limits too. Not that I feel a 100 unit would be enjoyable anyway!

I will say..I’m so over the sims 4 being so watered down, having no real challenge, and practically just being “rated G”.
I feel like the sims 4 isn’t really apart of the sims franchise. It’s a separate game in my opinion. Also I will say, the game is built on a crappy foundation so there will always be profound limitations 😢
I do often debate myself on this, but I think it's a combination yes of both the base game foundation and deliberate design choices. I'm not sure where the balance is, but in short: I think the core coding can be limiting, but I also see certain inclinations- such as valuing control and leaning towards positive outcomes.
Not a surprise the pack is a mess. But it is always sad. Hoping the issues will be fixed after the pack launches and then I can buy it on sale
I hate to say "it's not as bad as some" lol. But yeah some concerns here, and we don't yet know about dlc interactions
Not exactly related, but I realized at 2:13 that your Sims being afraid of the dark during the day is a common (and annoying) bug, apparently.

I’m pretty excited for the pack, because I love making apartments and they’ve never been functional until now. The only thing I’m upset about is the world, and I also would like to see how the Sims interact with the shareable areas of the apartment. Especially with laundry. I’m wondering if Sims will actually do their laundry or if Sims will actually go to the gym if you put down a gym things like that.
yeah, I saw barely any footage of use of shared places, and that is a selling point..
There is possibility a bug with the new basket that is supposed to hold small items. It isn't holding anything. I've seen several people mention it.

Thanks for putting this all together and bringing up the apartment broken walls and doors . I did watch itsmetroi and how hard it was to get below 3 stars. Yeah the dead worlds are a major problem for me.
& honestly, I feel the 'dead world' thing is purposeful in design- sadly it may be due to the core engine itself, so I don't think it's going to change much
perhaps doing something a bit different, or, as Lilsimsie said, placing builds closer together. Admittedly, dead areas were a complaint in sims 3 - but that was more that sims didn't auto spawn, in conjunction with an open world. And of course, there are diff things that make a world feel dead to people- sims, interactivity etc
That's a big problem with the builds so spaced out. I think they went with these big districts to try for an open world feel. What's the point if it dead. I didn't like Sim 3 at all, being a rotation player didn't work well and the open world just didn't do it for me. They don't route the sims threw the deco worlds. I noticed first in the wedding world where the stalls are, they route then to walk right pass it. In Cottage Living they do route threw the deco buildings, but I truly believe that map was made prior from the original crew that already had them routing in the village then EA let them go a few years back one remind and he quit on his own. This game has turn into a totally different set up at this point for whatever the reason. I don't think I'll be buying anymore maybe if a new stuff pack comes out now and then, with stuff pack it adds to the game but the worlds and bugs that get added and never fix I've had enough. All good things must come to an end at some point. Let's put it this way Sims 4 had seen it's better days time to let it rest in peace.
You won't catch me out here buying any packs until they're at least 50% off
Simsie also had MAJOR lagging in build mode, specially when it came to painting walls. I also just saw that Dr Ashley got early access, but had such a bug issue she couldn't use it and no one was able to fix it before access ended.
And the secrets are random, I believe a Guru said there were 30 random secrets and "a few" others that are specific to Sims... I imagine it's some of the native sims.. I think Simsie even learned the SAME secret for 2 different sims, within her 4.5 hour play thru. :(

For the not being paid rent glitch I think some of the simmers just didn’t wait long enough to receive the rent.
When i watched some lets plays it seems that the rent is received like a full day after the grace period
hmmm now that is interesting! I'll go back potentially and see if I can figure out if that could have been their problem. That would be great if it was only that- I'm honestly not sure though

- it's easy access with these bugs BUT
-they were also not playing with other packs- and other packs can make additional bugs pop up
I am not buying it ( for now), but not because i don't want it. I see so many things in it that would fit my playstyle, i just can't afford it due to life and everything breaking that i touch, including my car 😢 but i am excited about this ep. ( I was not excited about horse ranch, so that will be a pack that i'll buy much later.)
I feel that, the cost of living has gone up for a lot of us, and it's tough right now, hang in there .

Love this kinda vid! Especially since you’re not part of the creator network so you don’t feel like you have anything to lose by being critical of a pack. Sure those other creators aren’t paid to talk about the packs, but you still get the sense that they always try to soften the blow of their critiques on packs because I’m assuming they don’t want to be removed from the creator network. Still a form of bias in my book.

I'm not surprised about them having the animation for these new traits, like the snoop one being done in some weird way, I have noticed how they tend to have the animations for any of the traits or the special ones for occults and the elderly be over the top and happening way too often or just with no good reason for it happening! Which is why I actually find them all annoying, and would prefer they didn't just have them happening autonomously all the time, maybe let us choose whether to have them doing whatever the animation is or is for!
I also figured that a lot of these things would be buggy, and I bet they still will when the pack is released! I always wish they would actually show game play themselves with various packs with it and even with all packs, so those of us who spent 100s of dollars on the all the packs would know what to expect!
To be honest I am kind of scared to get this pack, because of what Horse Ranch has already done to my game, all the glitches just in CAS alone makes it hard to play, but there are also strange things happening in live mode too, and most of them started with Horse Ranch! I mean after getting it, I eventually had to uninstall my game and start over, and I am so afraid this one will do something to it again, and I will have to do the same thing!
Oh and I am very interested in the pack, I am just afraid of whatever new glitches it might also add to my game!
The gameplays I am waiting to see are from the Game Changers who are like me and have all the packs, because to me that will tell the most!
yeah ha they do overdo it a bit. I do know I see a lot of people saying we don't have enough animations- perhaps it is in part in response to that. It's tricky ofc to find a balance
This is a tough decision. I've added this video to one of my playlists (which I watch in shuffle regularly) to use for reference if I consider buying the pack in the future.

Thank you for this, it's very interesting and helpful. Well, I'm not a big fan of apartment living. I played it for a while in ts2, but after a time, I just went back to single dwelling homes. I always appreciate new build mode options and items, so it's never a waste of money to add new content to my game, that was true in ts2, ts3 and now 4. I'll pick it up at some point, but maybe not right away, but that may not be true, lol. I have been playing 4 a lot lately, so I'll reserve my rights to change my mind. Great video, Erin! I will probably buy the pack tomorrow on release day, but mostly because it creates the ability for me to make a village (on a 64/64 lot) and play rotationally around the village all while increasing neighbor to neighbor interaction and that is where the real value lies for me. Also, we can finally recreate Stardew Valley in the Sims and do the Stardew Valley challenge for real!!
(Sometimes I feel like I play this game way differently than the average simmer)...

I don't know if it's an bug,but the rent value and actual rent are different and it wouldn't be an big problem if it didn't set some of my units rent to over 3 billion simolians and the name I gave the lot and its units changes back to the original lot name. Also you can only place rentals on lots that an current rental is placed and unless I'm doing something wrong or missing something This is by far th most annoying thing Ive discovered in the pack because it means I can't place rentals from the gallery unless I have an already placed rental.

No mind-changing revelations for me. But since I have a PC, I can wait for the modders to improve on it, as they usually do. Whether that is enough to make me buy it remains to be seen. I still don't have the Wedding or High School packs, for instance, even though modders have fixed most bugs. If there are mods that add gameplay, though, I may get it. To buy it without mods, based on what I've seen so far, they need to slash the price at least by half.
Ah, honestly I really feel you aren't missing much on those two. I do enjoy aspects of HSY, but I wouldn't recommend FP for either

Yeah I like the secrets feature. But it needs an update in the future or mods. Because for their to only be 30 random secrets that have nothing too with your sims personality, that sucks. And 30 is not the many, I mean if you have 60 or

@@SimmerErin recently I've been playing in w.c and newcrest comparing them to the horse and this; they have more lots but they aren't space out as much and the set dressing isn't in the main playable areas and I always see sims walking about. I have another save playing in Tartosa using the HSH stuff pack and it's the same 6 customers in rotation even though they world is filled with sims 😭
Thanks for compiling all this into one video, it definitely helps confirm that for me, this pack isn't worth it at full price considering the bugs paired with ea's track record of not fixing bugs (dine out, wedding stories) and lack of depth in both the renting and East Asian aspects.

As the others on here I am quite grateful and indebted to you for the research and the content that you provide and the idea of roping in some thoughts from the other TH-camrs what a masterful idea. At this particular moment I'm not spending any more money on this game until next year I have loads of stuff that I haven't even begun to approach in terms of custom content let alone the depths of some of the mods that I've added and as well as the fact that this pack doesn't look like it's finished yet. But at least I'm forewarned about what's upcoming and for that I am quite glad thank you. EA has brought it on themselves that I will never buy anything full price from them again. So until I can find it on sale I certainly will not be adding it to my library. I used to run to the store for a full week in anticipation of the next pack coming out back when Sims 2 was still a thing and now I'm so Jaded by this whole experience of Entertainment Arts that I really can't wait for the next great thing to come along, because they're draining my patience.

Honestly, knowing things (minus kits) always have a sale eventually is nice- and you get the advantage of seeing the full picture of bugs and if there are fixes for said bugs or not
I find it the first bug interesting. I haven't played with apartments but in the other building i don’t have that issue at all. The 3rd glitch (the cheat) was working for Lilsimsie.
I guess in the end it will all depend of how we play our game. Just hope most of the bugs (at least the pay rent and paiting walls) desapear when release 🤞
Maybe the bugs will be fixed, but I'm leaning more towards a patch next week. Also how even if the gurus honestly said thx to the game changers, bugs have been found and they hope to delay release just by a week, the community would be just as livid as if the bugs are present and will be fixed in a week. 🤷♀️

@SimmerErin Yes, especially since they all just had base game and the new expansion, so the game wasn't heavy or anything.. maybe the computers have something to do with it. Some will run better than others. There are a lot of glitches on Twitter that people complain about when I haven't had the same issues on my game
@AutobotSimmer that I agree. People would totally understand delaying the release to fix those big bugs . Having those glitches still happening after launch, people will be furious..
I bought the pack already and everything seems so like lackluster.. like the “city” area w the markets is such a disappointment. It’s like two clickable stands and rabbit hole fish market. I already ran into multiple bugs and had to move every tenant out of a house and start over.. not being able to edit homes if occupied is very frustrating to say the least… the world is pretty but tiny.. city area is major disappointment…
yeah the worlds aren't super lively, and I do think it's something we will see going forward.

Don't expansion packs usually come with a base game update/new feature? Unless I missed something? They could have even just added pool parties to the base game, that would have been nice
we got an update today; the feature was being able to switch households quickly, but honestly, it's pretty small...

Maintenance events, snooping, breaking/ entering, lore in the world, marbles, hopscotch, a new career, new traits and aspirations, negotiating/ strikes, potlucks and pool parties- these would be the main gameplay additions
I don't think we got that mailbox shown in the trailer on the wall of apartment lobby. Edit: I found it, Ms. Gryphi's build buy video was very thorough.
yeah we have I think two sizes of mailboxes. I def just focused more on gameplay here, but I think bb seems pretty solid
From watching the videos, I had the feeling that the TH-camrs didn't realize that the rent is *only* paid on "Monday" no matter how long the Sim has lived in the apartment. Lilsimsie was repeatedly saying (in more than one video) that her landlord was never getting paid. But she had to go back and insert a bit explaining that the landlord did eventually get paid (and was paid a lot.) From watching, it appeared that they didn't play through a Monday, so of course they wouldn't get paid. So, it's not clear if it is truly a bug or lack of understanding on the part of the player.
Aspirations are something that is *very* player-specific. For example, LilSimsie said that she thinks of aspirations as something that should take a lifetime to complete and should be more like TS3 (where you're expected to only have one in a Sim's lifetime.) I have a *completely* different take on it. I *hated* TS3 aspirations because I feel that they are not realistic at all. While I'm sure that there are some people who only have one single "aspiration" in their life, there are many people who have several aspirations all at the same time. In TS3, you lost progress on any aspiration if you switched aspirations. In TS4, you can switch around and rotate between aspirations. I much prefer doing that. And while the aspirations do have you try out many different aspects of the game (which I've seen people refer to as being "like a tutorial"), I like that. How else would they have so many aspirations? I do a *lot* of switching around. For instance, the current teens in my Legacy game had the "Goal Oriented Aspiration." But while I was waiting for them to have a "career" day, I had them working on the "Nerd Brain" aspiration. They finished that, and went on to work on the "Computer" aspiration. They got that mostly done, but can't do more until they're adult, so they worked on the "Soulmate" aspiration (to the point where they can't do more until they are adult.) Now they're working on "Collector". (I wanted to do the fishing one, but it's winter. That will have to wait until Spring when it thaws.) But all of that is like my real life. I grew up wanting to be a doctor. I certainly "worked" on that, but I also "worked" on doing art, having a soulmate, and many other things. I didn't merely work on becoming a doctor. (I did "complete" that aspiration, but now that I'm retired, I have other "aspirations". I don't like having limitations on what I can "aspire" to in real life, and I don't want to have my Sims have limitations on that either.)
I didn't expect this pack to have anything I would be interested in beyond B/B. I dislike the very idea of apartments. I don't play them in City Living or Eco Lifestyle. I doubt I'd want to play as a landlord. However, I'm finding a number of things that are interesting to me. I'm hoping to win one of the giveaways because of that. (Money is tight right now. Our family income is dependent on my husband's commissions and teaching opportunities, but we've had fewer than usual of those lately.)
I'm not sure, Plumbella seems to think it is a bug too, but it's possible it's a misunderstanding
Ah I love sims 3 and sims 2 aspirations, many of sims 4 to me feel not very meaningful. you are correct of course, like many things, this is subjective. Sims 4 makes design choices that appeal to many and not others, simple as that

Can you give me some examples of aspirations from TS2 and TS3 that were more meaningful? I always thought they were far too limited. (And the lack of being able to do multiple ones at once made me dislike them.)
@@SimmerErin Oh, my, I just watched LilSimsie's "max unit" video and it was hilarious too. It was very different and really shows how the computer makes a big difference. While James did complain about how slow it was to build, LilSimsie (who probably doesn't have as good a computer as James) had a *lot* more problems. She also had more live-mode problems. James didn't really seem to have difficulty filling his vacancies, but LilSimsie could only do 2 to 3 vacancy fillings per attempt. However, I don't believe I need to see any more "max unit" videos, as hilarious as they are. (Yesterday, I watched a Dr. Gluon "100 Baby Challenge" video. It was as chaotic and wild as his videos usually are. Hilarious in another way!)
In all the many videos I saw earning money as a land lord was unreliable. And, the tenet/land lord events seemed to be disconnected from the gameplay making them frustrating random. Unless you want this pack for the building and cloths this seems to be a hard pass.
I was going to hold off on buying this just due to the cost, but now I feel a bit better about it haha - I think I will wait for these issues to get resolved by modders before I buy.
yeah, and we also will have to see what other bugs come about- bad as that sounds, new ones may pop up because this was all played without any other dlc

i love the idea of this gamepack, i just feel like the animations are lacking as usual, the gameplay isn't really there, and the conseqvences (or lack there of) makes it cringey. Might buy it when it hits a sale.
I think the central idea is indeed something that can be useful- and I think there are nice details- but it also doesn't feel like it's quite coming together

yes! what's really cool is that we have a range of styles, opinions and focuses. there are a lot of creators who do a great job with cas and bb overviews too
James Turner built a 99 apartment building and it worked fine for him.
it may vary based upon your device and other factors. I feel he did have some trouble, however. And lilsimsie certainly did.
Biggest issue seems to be landlords not getting paid rent, and rent getting reset to $4 billion per week if you're playing as a tenant. These potentially break the pack.
yeah, this seemed to have been an issue in early access too. for the large rent, I heard starting a new save file may prevent it- but even if true, this wouldn't be ideal

In the game i don’t like having to make the sims do something for it to happen. Like the snoopying trait, the fact we have to make our sim snoping and enter a sim house is a big nooo for me...
yes, I too prefer when there's more autonomy. Directing everything makes it less interesting to me

my sims are constantly trying to swim! it’s so annoying. i had to get rid of the pool outside my house because my vampire sim kept trying to off herself. i also had a retail store with a pool and everyone including the employees did nothing but swim. same thing happened with i had a beach restaurant in sulani. all the waiters neglected tables and just wanted to swim in the ocean.
I Don't thnk I am buying this pack.
A. Price is to high.
B. Heard thier is some bug issues with this game.IF so I don't doubt the EA/Sims team is looking into it. But also I am haveing too many issues with my as is and I play on console as my form of
Player platform. I DO think the pack looks interesting but the asking price is NOT. Maybe.Maybe when it goes down.
Rite now now I am still trying to work with game as is and crashing isuues.
Been playing in other saves that seem so far seem ok to play in while others are NOT so ok. Playing in the ok saves seem to so far be going ok but the base game itself still has its problems too as well as some packs. I just WISH EA/Sims team would DO something MORE to FIX the messed up issues such as crashing and other bugs. But i guess that too is just hopeful wishing. Anyways Ty for posting

Well I've only watched Dr. Gluon so far and the free real estate cheat worked for him. I've noticed there's now a debate about bugs or is it a feature. Also how bugs don't affect everyone which is annoying. Especially if it's a mystery why is a bug is happening and the 'do they even test?' argument.
The challenge with features is everyone has different opinions on how they'd want it executed and consequences. From needs to be like ts2; consequences galore so like with snooping and blackmail should mean enemies with the sim and good luck repairing it. If it's the landlord, immediately get evicted etc while others are ok with what we have.
The world....i was thinking what of it's bad so they can focus on gameplay? But of course that's a debate. From yhey still haven't added enough gameplay to this theory is excusing half assing work. So it's a typical ts4 pack that divides the community. I want to buy the pack, but the concern is if I'll even play.. I just want to convert a build I have right now so yeah kinda stupid for $40.

Yes like I said before, lots of things about gameplay are subjective. That's why it's an opinion.
I wonder if there are more secrets with more packs and also I wonder what other landlord options will be available with other packs.
definitely am curious about that too. We don't really know at all about cross pack integration aside from the radiator/ ac with seasons and the additional rule if you have cats & dogs
