  • Iran's Guardian Council has approved six candidates for the upcoming presidential election, including hardline speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf. However, the council's decision to bar former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has sparked controversy, raising questions about the election's credibility. As the two-week campaign period begins, Iran faces the task of choosing a successor to former President Raisi, once seen as a potential successor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The selection of candidates reflects Iran's Shiite theocracy's attempt to streamline the election process amidst tensions over the country's nuclear program and regional conflicts.

Good luck Iran. I guess it doesn't matter who becomes president, as long as ultimately, everyone works towards a better Iran, and people, in the region and the world.

It's the responsibility of the Guardian council to scrutinize and check the background.
Why do the US and UK check the background before recruiting someone for a job?
The Guardian council ensures that no potential harm should happen for national interest.
They find Ahmedinijad's previous action was dangerous for the economy.
Many consider him as Trump of Iran.

since last term the government of Iran started "engineering" the elections as we came to call it. not that elections actually mattered before. the true power was always at the hands of the leader, khamenei. but the president may on some occasions hinder his efforts if he doesn't agree with his policies or their interests don't align. so khamenei came to the conclusion that it'd be best to disqualify any candidate that he doesn't like and can potentially win the elections, so that his preffered canditate wins. they also don't care about participation anymore. most people don't vote. about 20%, government associates and workers and religious people still vote.
ahmadinejad especially was the most anticipated canditate to be disqualified. because he opposes khamenei. not that he's a good guy necessarily. he's a populist.

He turned on Iran's leadership after his Presidency ended. He is not patriotic and has no allegiance towards Iran. He is a traitor.
